It really depends on what ships you play and what builds you like to play. I wouldn't sell them if you don't need the credits. You can always play for credits if you need them, but there is no easy way to get these special upgrades. And we don't know how the game will change in the next months, maybe these spotter upgrades will be better than speed boost modules one day? (I don't think so tbh.) Any additional info about the whereabouts of the enemy is a bonus IMO and you also get points for damage upon enemy targets you have spotted, so what's not to like?
