Best destroyer at Tier 7?

I've messed around with GM quite a bit and you can certainly yolo large groups just to kill off one DD and survive, this includes most tier 8 DDs. (assuming a stealth radar CL like Belfast doesn't show up)

A 'bow on' GM spamming 6 guns is very hard to hit. Esp when they mess around speed, rock forwards/backwards, reverse wiggle etc.

 

The only problem comes from feeling unbeatable and you stick around to take on 5+ ships on your own when you should really just run. 

 

GM is way more powerful than OG Kiev imo. 

Well I have the Anshan too, and both are great boats much superior to the Gnevny they are based on due to torp range. A case of reverse russian bias 

 

Also I dont doubt GM can chase down dds, as I've done it a few times myself. The problem is rather, how do you get out afterward?

Maybe it was the DW torps that made me uncomfortable, but I played the GM very conservatively.

You may get the dd, but if it costs most of your hp, is that worthwhile? 

 

GM never gave me that feeling of being unbeatable, maybe because of the constant awareness that I can get smoke rushed any time and torped to oblivion.

Khabarovsk on the other hand, when you have BBs and shimas spamming torps at you (since they cant reach anything else), that is an unbeatable ship.

I once calculated from rate of fire etc and IIRC Gadjah is basically 2/3rds as good flame thrower as Atlanta... With perma-smoke.

And extreme stealth for T7 gunboat while neither being the slowest.

Well I have to say I've taken a shine to the Z-39. With one of the new commanders in it, it is a fun ship to play.

They really need to nerf it or switch it with the hsienyang.

This is the biggest flaw with the German DDs. They don't have any proper names, just an alphanumerical designation. It's so easy to forget which letter and which number goes with which DD. It'd be like naming the Russian DDs after their project numbers.
