The community contributor "Notser" posted a couple of videos on YT about there being more citadel hits on Battleships since 0.7.2 went live.
The first video on March 8th introduced the subject "World of Warships - Intriguing Adjustment" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97Z0ddSFTx4)
The second video on March 13th "World of Warships - Follow-up Intriguing Adjustment" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LY1UEgJyAfs) showed a statement from Sub_Octavian which had been received after the first one.
Wargaming are saying that they had not intentionally made any changes but they had noticed changes in combat statistics including the number of citadels.
Sub_Octavian's reply shown in second video:-
Notser's view seems to be that this is neither a nerf nor a buff, since for every Battleship that loses another Battleship gains by this (unintentional) change. Also he feels it rewards good players more, and punishes the bad players who just sail around broadside.
What do you think? Should Wargaming "fix" this or leave it as it is?
People are repording it on ships with distingt citadel layout.
Basically ships whose turtleback armor is not connected to citadel sides.Turtleback is part of casemate armor zone. What happened do those ships before the update, was that you could deal cit-damage, but you were not awarded cit-ribbon.Because turtleback is part of casemat armor and is only connected to the citadel armor hitbox on the roof.So in order to penetrate citadel, you had to overpenetrate casemat armor first. And ribbon was only awarded on the basis that what shell did first ( so, and overpenetration. So you got overpenetration ribbon, but caused citadel damage.
Now it is possible that with that "how shell interacts with armor" they fixed it. And now we are awarded ribbons on the basis that what shell eventully did.
Basically nothing have changed. We still do same amounts of damage, but we now are reciving correct amount of cit-ribbons.This is also the reason why many players have not seen any difference. And why WG have seen increase of citadels, but not in anything else.
Amagi and Bayern also have turtleback, but hittable part is mostly connected directly to citadel. So on those, we have always recived correct amount of cit-ribbons and people are not complaning about them either.
