Captains,

we are very happy to announce our brand-new Quality Poster initiative!

This is aimed at acknowledging, highlighting and harnessing the huge amount of helpful people that dedicate time to this forum and our community! :Smile_medal:

To this end we have created a new Quality Poster forum role that you will be seeing around very soon.

Quality Posters get a few perks that we hope will have a positive impact on the community.

  • They can recommend posts in the Gameplay, Newcomer & Game Guide sections.
  • They can select "Best Answers" in the Q&A Section.
  • They have access to their own sub-forum.
  • "Internet points"

Recommending a post will automatically pin it to the top of the page.

What makes a Quality Poster?

  • No warnings or rule violations in the past year.
  • Overall exemplary forum conduct.
  • Proven history of accurate and helpful posts.
  • A minimum of 100 posts and 6 months of forum activity (offtopic not counted).

How do I become a Quality Poster?

  • You can nominate a player to become a Quality Poster here.
  • All decisions regarding nominations are made by WG Staff and are not subject to discussion.
  • If a nomination is not accepted, we will not be able to tell you why.
  • You cannot nominate yourself or a clan member.
    • Please do not ask for someone to nominate you, let your posts speak for themselves.
  • You can only nominate 1 player per month, only the first nomination will be considered.
  • Please make sure to read the rules carefully as you will not be able to edit nominations.

I am a German/French/Polish... etc, user, can I be a Quality Poster?

  • We are now testing this initiative, if successful there is a good chance we will extend it to selected other languages.
  • If you have a great posting record in the English section you can still be nominated.
  • Currently the special powers of Quality Poster only work in the English section.

x

Certainly a great idea, this, but as with all things the proof is in the pudding.

Ie how well it goes in execution.

Well, that depends by and large on the suggestions - I hope we'll get a lot of Quality Posters here :)

Same. It is one of the best ideas I have heard of (whether here or elsewhere) in a long time :D

Oh, I see you went ahead and started the initative yourself.

*phew*

Now I don't need to do it. :fish_haloween:

Great idea. Let us hope it will create lots of quality posts and nominees.

Nice idea, I hope it works as well as intended.

But it will never bring back the vibe of the Alpha times...  ;-P

Honestly this doesn't seem all that interesting to me besides having the ability to select a recommended post that i can see as something very beneficial.

I would much rather see a recruitment of in-game moderators to squash the increasing toxicity of the playerbase which is something i am increasingly concerned about.

So if a poster is highly critical to the high suvivability of BBs (and power level in general), the numerous pay2win premiums and the uselessness of IJN DDs in the current meta, does that bar them from becoming a quality poster?

It would seem that helpful and accurate is in the eye of the beholder. And criticism isn't exactly exemplary forum conduct :cap_popcorn:

Edit: forgot to say that I like the idea, but have some worries on the above-mentioned points.

I wonder if successfully appealed and thus lifted warnings / bans, as well as 0 WG Point giving "friendly reminders" count towards it?

Being critical is not a bad thing, especially if it is done in a constructive manner.

I will not exclude someone just because they have a differing opinion.

Vibe or no vibe, now we don't have to wait 20 minutes to fight a one vs one battle :)

---

Quality posts are a good idea. They could even represent opposing points of view, it will only add to the quality of discussion if the respective arguments and counters are civilised and well argumented. Hope the initiative finds the success it deserves.

Follow up question, are spicy meme posts helpful or not?

You can certainly try ;)

While they are not helpful, whether or not they will help any nomination depends heavily on the level of spicyness.

An interessting idea but tbh:

I would have rather seen the Modder Forum Group done first before starting a new thing. But that might be just me afterall ;)
