Why doesnt WG like new, casual players?

Hi

Bare with me.

Since October WG has done everything to spam this game with DDs.

I dont hate playing DD but I like Cruisers the most.

This campaign-stage 5 is unbearable, nothing but torps, smoke and

avoiding being spotted. It has become a weird tennis game, players

sailing in and out trying to spam shells and torps from far away.

What if you want to enjoy this game as a chillout? Not this hectic,

competitive, salty race.

They are also removing every ship that is actually good, Kutuzov, Belfast, Nikolai,

Missouri and so forth. That means new players wont have a chance getting

any of the best ships.

Its like "sorry guys but you are not worth any good stuff"

Look at Dunqeurqe and Duke, they are awful.

I guess we are just cannon food for the awesome Alpha players that has

a Twitch channel and lotsa time and money to spend.

But they do...

  • Invite a friend promotion for new players + invite codes
  • Co-Op, Operations and low Tier for casual players

And since when is the Dunk awful?

What has this to do with new and casual players?

A Texas for free, easy mode or 10 point captains are not good stuff?

Why are premiums which are still to come already labeled as bad? The 4 ships u mentioned are pretty much broken/OP.

Nikolai is imo a bit of an exception now, because Orion has powercreeped it and is now the T4 king (kinda, the PA-DD on T4 is pretty broken/OP aswell, and probably the best counter to Orion)

Belfast: Just plain OP with the Radar

Kutuzov: still pretty strong despite the smoke nerf.

Missouri: Radar... just wrong

U get it when u get invited by a friend.

On the first part: I have to agree. 5th stage mission has created an absolute shitfest of gameplay... Noone cares about playing the game, everyone is doing his own mission stuff, despite it being totaly moronic.

I missed the summer sales and Dunkirk missions as we were abroad.

It should only be fair to repeat them from time to time (like Bismarck).

Why cant we new or "normal" players have Steaven Segal and/or Dunkirk captain?

Wrong, OP, call it what you want but they are in the game and  in the hands

of allready good players.

Its like telling somebody you have to compete against Alonso, by the way

he gets the Ferrari and you the Opel.

As a fellow newbie (although veteran of WOT, so I'm used to WG's...erm...foibles), I think the main difficulty with being a new player is the very steep learning curve, and the fact you meet very good players quite early in your career. Combine this with the lack of good in-game tuition, and it can be a bit of a trial by fire.

I don't feel too aggrieved about not being able to get hold of premiums from the past, although that may be partly to do with my winning a couple of them in gift boxes over Christmas; there's the same thing going on in WOT. As far as I can tell, WOWS doesn't have too many things that one is seriously disadvantaged for not having?

I would never object to the opportunity to get some of the nice 'prizes' from the past (captains, pretty coloured ships etc), but not having them doesn't really detract from my enjoyment of the game...

BTW I quite like Dunk so far: being able to point your bow at the foe, and still fire all your main guns, is rather newbie-friendly...?

Doesnt that apply to all ships? The ship looks awesome but is very mapdepending.

Very fragile and really bad dispersion.

I meant that front forward approach, most have 6 forward guns.

If we would compete with Alonso in Ferrari vs Ferrari he would still wipe the floor with us... See the point? If a better player has the same ship as u, he MOST LIKELY will win the fight.

Inferior ships doesnt mean its an autoloss. Ive gone 1v1 with Marblehead vs Belfast and won. So what? He was just a bad player.

Missouri is strong at radaring DDs, in a BB vs BB engagement its not better than an Iowa (i believe they are similiar otherwise (or atleast almost)).

Nikolai ive encountered probably less than 10 times... And as i said, Orion is just plain stronger than Nikolai, so u can have a silver ship which is better. Where is the problem?

Belfast: Ofc i agree, but there are other "good" ships. Belfast is OP.  Fiji is very similiar and can yield u good results.

Kutuzov: Ye strong, but as above, other good ships do exist. The strong point of the Kutuzov is, that it can handle being uptiered better than other T8 Cruisers. Because Smoke + HE. Edinburgh has smoke but not HE, so he must operate much closer to the enemy lines to deal damage.

And who says that a Premium ship in the future wont be good for u? So u can have one then. Currently u have Giulio Cesare, which i consider as OP (atleast its very strong). Kidd, also a very strong DD imo.

If you as a new player need extra xp, don't forget to also want a Alpha tester flag. Just because new players need everything old players have right away from start. Also, new players should start from tier X because old players have unfair advantage other way.

One more thing before I go to sleep.

That is also stupid to reward people who hasnt played

in a few months.

They collect the goodies and disappear  after a few games.

They should reward players who "hangs in there" as cannon food.

Not really - most ships seem to have a variation on A-B X-Y (sort of), so you generally need to expose at least some broadside to get all your guns on the target; with Dunk, you can go bow in, making it a bit harder for the foe to zap you...

I should note that I've only recently begun using Dunk in randoms though, so I could easily be being over-generous to her!

You were talking about new player...

And no, the 10 point captains are from operations and easy mode for casual players is called CoOp.

Well no need to debate this any further. You are right, Alonso would beat me in an Opel.

Maybe its more on a psychological level... envy? Im supergood in Emile Bertin, but thats about it :).

Yes, heard Cesare is OP. Well lets hope the future has some good stuff for us,

But as WG said, we(hangers) get all the fun missions with 600 BB/CA/DD in queue that give us cool rewards.

Not an expert in Dunkerque, but shouldnt u avoid bowtanking with it? Thought his bowarmor is weak and can be overmatched atleast by certain BBs?

Yep just checked: 380mm guns will overmatch her, so thats basicly Warspite/QE + all higher tier BBs as far as i see. (oh and except KGV)

The best thing is to angle not completely bow on, but to show them some broadside. Then they might hit your nose, but most likely will overpen it (so no penetration and no citadel) which will result in minimal damage. And if they shoot your angled broadside, they will bounce off.

Why doesn't WG like experienced, skilled players?
As the game progress they are trying to remove all the skill based things from this game so new and casual players stand a chance fighting someone who took a time to learn the game.

(PS. I do agree with you to some point, and thats why I don't like "Event based" rewards, since player that didn't play at specific time can't put their hands on given things)
