Three little wishes

If the wish fairy would grant you 3 little wishes for quality of life improvements to be implemented this year what would they be. I'll start with my 3, and remember just the little things, fixing the MM is beyond the abilities of WG and any number of magical beings.

1. Check box filters on your profile summary. You can sort your ships by type, nationality etc. but it still shows every ship you ever played a game in, including ones no longer in the game. This can make finding the stats for a specific ship annoying, and it's only gonna get worse as more ships are added to the game. So I'd like a check box to filter only the ships in your port for display, and another one to display just your current favourites.

2. The ability to customise your commanders, and not just for doubloons only. Reviewing my commanders always presents me with a load of rejects from a star wars movie. Every time they give me a new commander his portrait is nearly always the same. Which is a shame given that they have different portraits I could be using for them. And make it so you can spend credits to do it, give me something to spend my millions on.

3. A Mediterranean port. How about the grand harbour at Malta for my British and Italian ships?

Well that's my 3, what are yours?

1 - that WG would fix the carrier bugs which are happening since five versions ago or so (which I reported but nobody does a jack shi..l)

2 - A new PVE scenario per month

3 - A mode which would be something like "Carrier wars" in which there are up to 5 carriers per side.

1. The option to remove the "Commander Unavailable"-message and darkening of ships in the carousel when you don't have a commander on the ship.

2. In the same vein, automatically link captains trained for a ship to that ship for easy one-button assigning (if more than one captain is trained to a single ship the button opens a drop down for selection). For premiums you would get the ability to manually link one captain per ship for the same purpose, allowing a single captain to be linked to multiple ships.

3. Permanent battle history not limited to a login session. Bonus points if it's also linked to an official replay system.

1. The ability to chat with your contact while in a game and not only when in port/in queue.

2. The removal of epicenter gamemode.

3. The almighty power to ban all the bots (and below-500PR players or is that the same thing? xD) from the game

3. A free XP ship that isn't a BB *cough* USS Alaska *cough*

  • customisable "presets" for flags & camo's that you can bundle yourself. So if you want to use "Powergrind", you just have to tick one box, and all the appropriate flags & camo's are mounted on the ship at once
  • better tutorials (not needed for me, but the game has a bit of a (too) steep curve in the learning process)
  • pencil crayons... Because I'm a 3 yo in the body of someone who is 30: make camo's adjustable in colour, so you can tweak the most hideous orange/red/yellow/purple/pink ones to more sombre colours.

1. Silver Ghetto premiums - Able to transfer a Captain that has previously commanded that ship back in without retraining and without losing current specialisation, applicable on ships that are fully researched of course so have the "Elite" status.

2. Battle of Midway mode for CV's - Each CV has control of a small fleet of bot AA picket ships a little like a Red Alert style. That way CV's could have proper striking power and not break the surface fleet game and just need balancing against each other. I'd play CV games then!

3. Hard cap of 3 (or max 4 reluctantly) BB per side per game - Dynamic cruiser and DD play is possible as we saw in Clan Wars, but only viable with less BB's forcing camping behaviour.

1. change dispersion mechanic so that dispersion is not a linear progression from min to max range, but exponential. Dispersion should be much much worse at maximum and long range to promote and reward players who don't camp or snipe from the back.

2. Give us an option to make the mini map an undockable window so that on my two monitor system I can have the game running as normal on one monitor and a full screen mini map  of my current battle on the other. The mini map is by far the single best tool I have in game, to assess what the enemy is actually doing.

3. Increase the clan size limit to 75, or give large clans made up of multiple tags the ability to share oil resources and do CW together.

1. Remove detonations.

2. Make cruisers great again.

3. Fix the way damage is dealt and all those weird massive overpens, pens or even citadels that deal more damage than they should (I know they're already on it but I wish to see that day anyways).

I would add a 4. to that. Give us options to switch out idiot players with bots.

1. More free-xp ships. I personally would like to see CVs and DDs.

2. BB AP on DDs should do far less damage. I hope they fix it soon.

3. The game gets more popular, hopefully.

1: Overpens/bounces on broadside targets. Even counting CAs here and not only BBs.

2: Limit both BBs and DDs. 5 BBs and 5 DDs are fun to play....yeah.

3: Did I mention overpens and bounces?

Atm I feel that the amount of damage u do with a shot is so RNg based it`s retarded.

Take my Dunk. I overpen a tier 7 when it`s bow in.....yet I bounce its broadside hull.

1. Detonation & permanent module damage gone.

2. Fix BB AP on DDs.

3. Option to exclude certain game modes and/or maps.

Bonus round: people above T4 who still torp their own team have a real torpedo shoven up their hole.

1 More PvE please.

I stopped playing random/ranked a while ago because RNG god hate my guts and most of the time place me in a team full of potatoes. For the Advent thingie I had to play PvP again and boy, that sucked. I lost count how many times I lost due to crappy team. Today it was such a day again, had 3 battles with my beloved Phoenix, 2 of them great (65k+ dps, many kills) and still I lost all of them. Man, in one battle I had more XP than the number 1 on the winning team. That did it, I will now only do Coop or Operations, so I hope they will  add some new PvE content.

All 3 of my suggestions are aimed at enticing more people to come and stay. The suggestions are deeper than their literal meanings.

1. Better mod support, but more creativity in general. Integrate some Quality-of-life mods into the game so people don't have to worry about getting banned for using "last-known-position-on-map" mods, or hell, even "performance optimization mods" because not everyone has GTX1k. Encourage more modders to produce quality content which adds to the game. Design game mechanics compatible, enhanceable and fitting to be modded. Creativity stretching beyond the game ... remember the one time we almost had a model contest? Almost had community maps? When community members still bothered to provide informational and interesting posts? When we still had history professors interested in the game?

2. More features. Especially easilly accessible ones. Newcomers are bored before they even get far in the game. No, simply more advertising such as on Steam won't help. Maybe a few "free starter ships" not limited to tier 1, and stretching up to Tiers 5-7 would help, yet would not be met with toxicity and hostility when they are played by new people. May require game-structure level revision to normalize gameplay for coherence and opacity so it does not alienate newcomers. No, "structural controls" such as "newbie protection MM" is not the way to go. Fix the source. Add a campaign, with a hell of a story, which also functions as a tutorial. Devise more game modes. Add more seasonal events and scenarios.

3. Win back the loyalty of all those who have left. If they all came back WoWs could stop advertising for a very long time. Introduce player-time based loyalty rewards. Add more time-based unique emblems, flags, seasonal rewards, free ships, etc. Be more customer friendly. Prepare a better game to treat the guests when they come back. Give a non-trivial amount of free premium-time and gold every season or year. Make up excuses to do it. Design away toxicity, cheating, and 3rd-party farming. Continue the collaborations with museums and such. Revise the way you do dev blogs and seasonal updates so they are not cold unnoticed youtube vids. Every patch and expansion, I want to see a literal in-game greeting screen and moving signs, highlights, mechanics displays like some mini-tutorial, prepared by the devs leading players through what changed, what is new, and how they may enjoy it, plus always, thanks for support and continued patronage of the game. Animated seasonal update screens from the devs. These "personal" things are indispensable and non-negotiable, especially by very large companies who deal in the "service" sector. Yes, I see entertainment as the service sector. You'll be surprised how important these gestures are to players, many players do or don't come back just hoping to see the game "greet" them. See human beings not as tools to be mechanically processed, not as dogs to be trained, not as dummies to be exploited. But as guests. Warranting hospitality, passion, and joy. Beyond happiness. Hospitality takes skill, too. It will always be difficult, and the bad will always remain, but it is never an excuse to turn away from the customers, so that everyone loses moral. Even toxicity is addressable, by good design, and the methods become clearer every day. There are many others to learn from. Things can and do come together, believe in that.

These are related to the versatility of ships:

1. Multiple skill setups for commanders which you can freely change. This means 2-5 skill tree slots where you can allocate points separately and swap between them for free.

2. Ability to slot multiple modules of the same type on same slot that you could freely swap without need to sell or demount the previous one. This would add some flexible versatility to ships.

3. Competitive captain setup that gives your competive captain max allocated points determined by tournament rules (captain xp earned during tournament would go to elite cpt xp). This would be a good step to take if WG is serious about making WoWS an E-Sport.
