T8 Massachusetts and T10 Salem as end-of-year present ?

Last year on WoT Blitz, WG offered their best customers a T10 M60 American medium tank for free. It was unexpected.

 

Right now at the end of the year we have T8 Massachusetts and T10 Salem, both American, wandering in the nature. I bet one of them (or both) will be given as present to a selection of customers.

 

Massachusetts doesn't make sense to be sold as it is Alabama clone. But can be given for free.

 

Salem is the first T10 premium ship thus we already know it will have a special distribution. We know that Clan Battles will have another reward ship - Stalingrad.

 

What do you think ? End of year WG suprise or not ?

it's all on the meaning of "best customers"

 

I'm not contrary at all to something that can be reached on playing this game a lot, or playing a lot and very good (Flint, Black, stalingrad, Kamikaze in clash of elements).

 

But i'm not keen to reward something to players who spend more or something like that.

Can't see either being given out for free even with a lengthy grind...

 

Massachusetts is a £40+ Prem and Salem shouldn't be for all, would be amusing to see all the potatoes in a T10 Cruiser with no idea how to use it however.

Sure, still on another WG title with same grind and prices they gave a T10 as end of year present to their best customers.

Why not ? It's basic economics.

if i remember correctly, WG said that for them, a guy who play steadily and spend sometimes (let's say 30-50€ per year)  is more valuable than a guy who spend 200 € in 6 months and then leave.

I'll believe it here when I see it, the most I can see WG giving away is a DoY.

 

Although they did give away the Takao or whatever it's called which is a clone Atago...

We pretty much know what we are getting a Mission Marathon for the Duke of York.

Personally, giving away a T10 in any of their games should be a big 'no' as there are enough complaints over player abilities at t7+ already.

 

Reasonable missions to achieve a ship are fine, but T10 should only be available to those who have ground their way to them.

MEh, giving away a T10 won't change a thing...it's not like 98% of the current T10 player base has a clue on what they are doing anyway so...

Minimal impact at best, if I was WG I would actually sell it

I suppose you are not a businessman because here we are talking about rewarding your most important customers. You know, it happens everywhere in any domain. Big customers get appreciated with big gifts.

Then I would expect that if they went down that route as I probably rate as one of their better paying customers, but I still think it is a bad idea, however nice it would be to receive the ship as a gift.

 

To the below (forum formatting... grr), I:m the CFO for a pharmaceutical group, so yes, I do understand marketing incentives and rewards :)

I was playing WoT Blitz last year and I cannot describe the epic storm that followed the M60 rewarding, as the non rewarded majority angered about the discrimination ^^

and i had the thought myself  when going through possibilities for the salem.

 

but tbh the salem is probably not finished in time and the 7x R1 way more likely

 

the mas however could be but i dont think so it just seems to not be the way they do it in wows also with the cristmas campaingn and duke incoming that would be pretty huge pile of presents

MMMM That opens a BIG can of Worms.. what counts as best customers? Games played Money Spent?... Both theses would be unfaire.. would also piss players of that just missed out.

 

Only thing i think they could do that would be fair is to Give some flags/Camos Staggered by the amount of games played like they did on there birthday.

 

I am saying this as someone with 10K games over 40 Prem ships in port and have been a Prem player almost constantly since Beta.. So someone that almost defiantly fits any Criteria for BEST CUSTOMERS

Massachussets would be a nice reward for free like OP says for people that has been playing for quite some time now and maybe has purchased a decent amount of things for WG. I mean, I understand how something like that would encourage said people and it's a nice reward.

 

However, that Salem is one of those ships, I doubt it very much. I even hope it isn't. T10s for free without a grind that makes you play at that tier yourself (not counting the free T10 ships for clan wars either) is a really bad idea.

Massachusetts is unlikely to be free as it will sell well to the US playerbase that want the Alabama but are from the Northern states, plus collectors.

 

Salem looks more like a reward ship, possibly ranked like Black and Flint, but we shall have to see.

I doubt either will be free like the OP suggests plus a "best customer" one off that's done publicly will cause a lot of shouting.

They could distribute it to players already having a T10. Big customers can and do freepex to T10 anyway. And it wouldn't be an improving skill whatsoever goal but a commercial decision.

I guess it's a form of network marketing, the players that stick around probably bring 3 or 4 of their friends with them, who then bring another 3 or 4 each and so on, so it's not 1 v 1 but 1 v 20.
