Firstly

WG are finally killing off the USN CV decks. After years of data gathering.

But will you miss them? I must admit I used to play them as they were an easy albeit ineffective path into CVs. Despite what folk say, I found the Ranger AS deck effective as the double DB could stack a bit of damage.

I'll be happy to see the back of them now as Lex will be fairly balanced and playable now vs anyone who isn't a complete CV potato.

Did you enjoy AS Decks?

Did your heart sink when you saw the enemy USN CV had two fighters?

Did you rage when you saw your friendly CV was an AS deck?

Ofc I am sad! No longer will I have an easy time crushing people who think AS is a viable option. Where am I going to get all my Clear Skies from now? WG has ruined my enjoyment of CV play with this! T_T

On a more serious note:

AS is worthless in all situations. Glad to see it go for the sake of the game.

Very happy to see them go. Most player that had absolutely no clue about proper CV gameplay just went the easy way into the AS deck and ended up being a burden to their team.

I would have been more happy to see them tweaked a bit  .

Like these wild ideas :Smile_hiding:

Ranger , 1-1-1 stock , 1-1-2 strike , 2-1-1  AS cancer .

Lexi , the same as Ranger . No silly AP bombs

Essex (current one is a nerf) , 2-1-1 stock , 1-1-3 strike , 3-1-1 AS Edited  , and no stupid tr 8 planes nor AP bombs  .

Midway , 2-1-2 stock , 1-2-2 strike , 3-1-1 AS Edited, same no tr 8 BS , nor AP bombs , also wtf is 2-2-2 , why not go back to 1-2-2 .... .

And most important  ADJUSTED loading times 15-25% less than it is now .

Ohh another wild idea why not make Torpedo Armament Expertise work for DB , obv it's in the name but that can be changed .

Well that was my rant , now i'm gonna [edited]off since forums are a scary place :Smile_child: .

I'm neutral, as I never really got into CVs (have the Bogue and Zuiho). To be perfectly honest USN CVs were a joke compared to IJN CVs, oftentimes I would see a USN CV against an IJN CV and know how it would end.

But right now, I'm not certain that the loadouts we will get will improve the situation. As a non-cv player I see the flexibility of the IJN CVs as a major advantage.

Damnit, they are literally opposite questions! Sad? No. Oh wait, the question is turned around so the answer should have been yes :cap_tea:

Also where's the "hell yeah" option? :cap_haloween:

Accidentally voted no. Title of top is "are you sad to see them go", poll question is "happy to see them go?".

I enjoyed the balanced decks during the beta, I think they made for much more fun games with decent counter play between the rival carriers and the ability to act to both defend your team and strike out at the enemies. Making US carriers one trick ponies as their gimmick turned me off the line and carrier play in general. AS decks are useless for carrying games and also negative play experience since their sole purpose is to shut down one play on the enemy team. Good riddance I say.

I'm actually looking forward to trying the US CVs out again once the patch hits and maybe getting into carrier play again.

I tried to vary it as in previous poll topics I find I end up typing the same question out in both topic and question, whoops...

I would have played an AS game to honour the Decks going silent in a few hours time but I realised I didn't have any AS USN CVs other than Saipan :Smile_child:

The only AS I used to take out for a spin was Bogue, but then again without strafes it's much less fun anyway :cap_rambo:

My record plane kills was 77 in an AS Ranger, pretty disgusting...

Bogue was awful but I played her as AS only, if the DB derped then that was 0 damage for you. If it derped more than about twice then that's pretty much 0 for the entire game lol...

I played her both - AS and strike - depending on situation. My proudest moment is probably almost getting clear sky in strike Bogue vs an AS one :cap_haloween: kite him with my bombers over my ships AA, got something like 27-ish plane kills :cap_rambo::fish_palm:

 lol wut?!

Yeah there's always those weird games where someone is determined to sink you no matter what... I came close to a Clear Sky in a Tirp once as someone just seemed to hate German BBs.

You'd think people would give up if they've just seen their squadrons get wiped, definition of insanity and all that...

Then again, getting clear sky above tier 5 seems a bit hard, my current plane kill record is 66 on Hiryu vs Ranger -> Ranger has like what - 73? Still not good enough :cap_tea:

The first week that I got my Enterprise I was literally getting a few CS a day vs bad GZ players. Quite often the only thing stopping me was the GZ losing too many planes to allied AA. It's possible if you air control early on and simply box in the enemy CV as if he gets his squadrons out he'll yolo them on friendlies which denies you the kills lol

Yes, I'm not sad AS are a thing of the past, what does saddens me is that they took away the choices in different setups. Less choice = bad imo

Much happier to see strike load outs gone to be honest. Never really had a problem with a friendly CV taking AS, but to see a friendly CV who didn't bother to take any fighters with which to cover the team in an attempt to maximize their own damage output was always a bit of a slap in the face. Both being axed in favour of a more balanced load out is long overdue though.

Facing an enemy AS essex is just depressing in a strike tahio. Even noobs can get so many plane kills with just brute force of the planes. So yes glad to see the AS loadouts go so it will take slightly more skill to play US cvs.

I am sad.

Why?

First: I like to have choices!

Now, I am left with one instead of 2 (well, maybe 3, but stock was never good, 1 squadron less hurts alot) But not only for me, but now also for my enemy. If you see an US carrier you now ALWAYS know what a setup he uses, same is true for you, he will always know which sort of planes you have if playing US.

Second: It wasnt that bad

At least you could defend yourself, spot, clear the sky and burn some ships.

Third: I hate strike loadouts with passion

No spotting, no protection and most just yolo into next best AA-ship-bubbel in the whole match. I find it much harder to outplay your opponent with strike loadouts. For, everytime I saw one used I thought: free bombing for me + alot of easy plane kills.

Problem most of the time is not the setup or a ship but the player.

I have mixed feelings.

Just complete potatoes with no clue of CV gameplay have choosen the fighter loadout, so it helps the helpless to have it completely removed to push them in the right direction to learn CV gameplay.

But on the other hand it was nice to know playing against a potato within the first 2 minutes of the battle when his fighters pop up...now you need a little bit longer until you find out for sure.

IE: park one fighter squadron for each half/third of your allies's frontline, and turn the minigame with the other CV into a game of chicken.
"Who moves first loses all his planes"

Because let' face it, that's how AS was played, with very timid scouting 4-5km in front of your allies.
So if you didn't have enough fighter power to at least keep the enemy AS CV distracted (read: an USN CV below T9 without AS), you would do literally nothing all match, and he wouldn't either.

Fascinating.
Now you can say "L2P", and I agree, and I'm the wisest or most experience CV player, but I have above average results with USN CVs, so that at least qualifies me to see things from a decent CV player's perspective.

AS was trollish garbage.
It was good to have when there were 2 CVS per match, no matter the tier.
But it hasn't been anything but griefing for your team and the other for the last 2 years.
