Imaginations of an overeager engineer drawled on a blueprint. The H-44 was about as likely to ever be built as the P. 1000.

Its a phantasy from the last days of the III.Reich. H44 --> made in 1944. Already by 1943 the III.Reich abandoned the idea of (huge-)surface-warships.

Quote

It was never intended to build a ship like the H44, it was a design study to see how a battleship had to be designed to be protected against all known threats.

WG didn't make a Hxx for T10 which I think is a missed opportunity.

Instead they made some random fantasy ship...

The H44 topic is almost as old as this game. I always wonder, what people are thinking when coming up with this study. Seriously, a H44 would be one huge floating island, a torpedo magnet second to none, impossible to be missed by any airstrike, sluggish like hell, and with 8 ultra huge guns which, considering overall BB rng, and especially german BB rng, wouldn´t hit a barn from the inside, and most likely even overpenetrate cruiser citadells.

The only purpose i could ever imagine for such a behemoth, is being a special event endboss like encounter, maybe something for a tier 8-10 szenario/mission.

Yes

Think of the dock that should be used for her maintenance.

Some of H-ships were totally devoid of reality, like f.e. the draught that was too deep for the German waters.

IIRC, it was going to be H41, but H41 proved to be very, very similar to H39, so they just gave H39 (Now Friedrich de Grosse) the option for H41s guns, and made up a ship around a 'triple turret design exported to Russia'.

H42 was considered if H41 wouldn't cut it, but I guess what was quoted as the one exception to the rule of Yamato having the largest guns in the game was unappetising. I am fine with that to be solution for the German BBs, if that turret design exists (see Roon & Hindenberg, where it does). Which is a big if.

I'd have loved to see a big H and I was expecting it too.

Even if WG said "no Yam will have biggest guns EVAR!!" it would have been interesting to see a German 2x4 BB with huge guns, maybe make them a bit derpy to balance out their power and also give them poor angles so you need broadside to fire all 8?

I smell some Pzkpfw P1000 Ratte syndrome from WoT here.

As we do not have enough BBs here.

We definitely do not need more fantasy BBs!

"Having a 1944 ship with diesel powered cylinder engines, a 51m beam and a 12.7m draft going 30 knots is a completely realistic goal!" -A nine year old German schoolboy in 1944 having doodled on a napkin.

"It should totally have super big guns and tons of other guns everywhere!" -His buddy sitting next to him

I don't see why they couldn't add some H44 and Habakkuk and make them AI-exclusive tier 12. And A-150 as tier 11.

They could work very well as some type of boss enemies.

Really the Montana should also be tier 11, because in reality the Iowa was about as good as the Yamato.
