What is this all about?

I've been waiting for a German premium DD for a long time, and it looks like we're finally getting one. Usually we get treated with a shiny preview picture of the upcoming ship along with some indicative stats - I couldn't find anything of the kind for this ship.

Is it this?

We need answers!

WG appear to have lost any ability to release any vaguely balanced ships other than BBs recently :Smile_coin:

Don't forget GZ is floating around in there too with the private test thing that's taking practically as long as a woman takes to grow a baby. In fact it's been about 10 months since GamesCom no? :Smile_child:

The T-61 is "on stand-by", as a ready-to-release item, that can be used when another planned item/event/... has to be delayed short-termed, for example due to some re-balancing...

?? GZ is not in test anymore, but it is in the announced "exclusive phase"...

And it’s done now. There were some bigger gaps between testing cycles and I think they are just waiting for the 3 month to be over to put it up for sale again.

but with 0.7.3. testing is over. And now it is exclusive for some time (3 months I think) for the initial buyers...

edit: too late

Wasn't the T-61 a prize in Kings of the Seas (or other tournament don't remember)?

Did those people get it?

If they simply put T-61 to Tier VIII no rebalancing would be needed.

Don't be daft, with that HP, torps range and general stats it would be useless fishfood in a T10 game and T8's face T10's all the time.

So it is okay to put a 1940 design together with early 1930s designs...?

We all know how that worked with Cleveland... :cap_fainting:

But this time it is different, because you have to pay to win, right?

You mean of course, to be historically correct, a 1940 German design adaptation of the Gerard Callenburgh-class which was designed in the mid 30s at the same time as the Gaede/Maass. And seeing that the Kriegsmarine just put their own equipment on an existing Hull, we might as well take a look what was added.

Same 128mm guns as the Gaede/Maass, 2x4 533mm Torpedoes just like the Gaede/Maass, very similar AA. Hmm looks to me like the Kriegsmarine used what they were already using for the 1934 type destroyer, in a similar configuration.

But why not put it at T7? Because the Gerard Callenburgh-class was smaller in dimensions than the Type 1934 DDs and had a much smaller displacement. So just dropping it at T7 would require massive gimmicks and of course a concealment that would shame the Shiratsuyu, since the GC-Clas was shorter by about 0,5m than the IJN smol bote. That's why putting it together with the Type 1934 design concept makes sense, both ships are very similar.

BTW the Cleveland-class is nothing like the Flottentorpedoboot 1940. It wasn't a rush job that used existing facilities to provide a quick solution to a pressing need of a nation at war. That class was purpose built, based on a refined design already in use, by a nation that wasn't reacting to a war, but preparing in peace for one. But keep saying that a ship equipped with 30s weapons on a 30s hull, should be placed at a tier with ships that vastly outclass it.

T-61 has a different hull design, it's much bigger and more modern. The designers just used the engines (Don't forget Gerard Callenburgh will be tier 7 like Maass and Isaac Sweers tier 8 like Harekaze)

A destroyer that's smaller and more manoeuvrable with the same weapon load out is a significant improvement in this game... Anyway T-61 already has the tier 7 gun reload, 'tier 11' torpedo reload and a 6km surface detection.

It's literally a tier 7 ship that's much better than Shira when you add hydro and the broken torpedo reload.

This might be the short version of why the arrival of the  T-61 has been delayed indefinitely. Wargaming is most likely busy trying to balance the ship, without just making it a premium carbon copy of the Ernst Gaede. At least, that is what I am hoping for, and I should stress that it is much better to take the required time than to release an unbalanced ship. Any information from the developers would be most welcome, though.

Stick T22's upgraded or even stock torpedoes on it and I think it'd be fine, different but not OP; it's the combination of EG's top torpedoes plus T22's reload and all of the other advantages that's broken.
