CV, hard to be good but yet, hard to be reward.

straight to the point. 

 

I'm not the best CV player and most of my experience is on IJN CV, but that's not the point.

CV players are not rewarding enough, for the effort that put into gameplay to reach team expectation is insane. 

you have to actively provide spotting information, defending, and try to strike at the same time and yet the reward is poor. 

 

just look at this: 

I'm in Yamato sit at 15km away, deal 100k and yet I manage to beat CV who active defending everyone (yes he/she did in this game) get Kraken and actively spotting.  

 

i'm played like a brain-dead in that game and yet i manage to be in top 1. 

 

also another game were i was played at Shokaku and get 200k damage with 4 kills but only came in the top 3. 

 

and i didn't shoot at DD at all, not a single shell direct to DD.

CVs get blamed for not providing AA cover too when people go solo and they can see you're 2/2/2 so you will never be able to cover more than 2 areas with fighters at any one time :Smile_sceptic:

how well you do is base on your team and enemy CV I guess... 

but all that hard work rarely get reward

Yeah totally... 

 

Sometimes you can do a huge amount of work just to stop the enemy CV and spot for your team but because you get almost no damage your XP gains will utterly suck.

 

Often I feel I've had a better game when I've done the above instead of a 100k+ beating where the enemy CV caves in but the game itself doesn't reward that no.

 

I don't use XP flags/camo for CVs because the gains for the work put in can be frankly pathetic.

CV barely shot down any planes so he lost a lot of xp there. kills are irrelevant and dont mean much. CVs usually dont cap so they miss a ton of xp.
i often get top xp with CVs IF i shoot down a LOT of planes AND do a lot of dmg. if u fail to do both of those things, its not easy to be top xp.

Things are only going to get harder for CV's, not just the economy is broken. I went from tier ten back to tier 9 for that but there has always been an imbalance between usa and Japanese carriers. In the latest update they are going to bull anti aircraft consumable by 4 times rather then 3....there isn't any point anymore, wargaming does NOT care about its carrier players, they are always going to be broken and wargaming won't fix them it won't even try.

True but its another buff against carriers that we didn't need. A Destroyer with AA can already cause you a major headache without making it worse. The enjoyment of playing carriers for a lot of people in high tier matches is already being drained, just speaking to others and seeing the numbers of players. AA is too powerful, they should be Buffing carriers not further nerfing them into the ground _-_ may not seem like much but it will mean the difference between killing destroyers on their own or not, and if they run escort near a BB at the end of a match its going to be even more frustrating.

Cool. Then as a CV I can hunt DDs, well I can't even spot cuz my planes will get taken down in a second. I can't attack cruisers (that's ok, it always was like that), and with strong aa for BBs all I can do is search for stupid german or IJN BB player that went solo on other side of map. If enemy team stick together, then I can just sit with my strike planes at back waiting for like 10 min, before I make my first strike. And even if I menage to deal like 100 k dmg, and destroy some ships, I still will be under the line with credits...

Kill a lot of planes, delete a DD or 2, maybe go crazy and tank some damage (from an errant DD) or avoid some torps and it is easier.

 

That kraken could have been 5 kill secures, who knows. Dont forget you get XP based on the % of damage to a ship. 12k to delete a DD is worth so much more than securing the last 12k on a BB.

 

It is also likely you tanked some damage in the Yamato, even at range people will still focus you. That soon adds up the XP.

Its a Fact CVs are poorly rewarded.

Also the issue of incraeasingly Insane AA on almost every ships now, which makes it pointless for CV to even try. People are saying drop on DDs, yeah a skilled CV player can do that , but if you notice even DDs have got so strong AA these days CVs dont get a chance to drop.

KIDD, GROZOVOI, US defensive AA and by any chance if thats not the case, then a friendly Cruiser near by pops up AA or enemy cv planes pop up and again CV is unable to do much damage.... so taking that into consideration, i think this is a very well pointed problem.

Good CV players are hard to find and with new the recent new changes to AA on DDs isnt very encouraging to CV players.

Yes, the Def AA (in addition to smoke etc.) is a terror to any cv captain. Lets hope WG will do something to compensate them. (e.g. more Squadrons at a time in the air. More (or better, unlimited) Reserve. No deep water torps. higher torp range. faster torps. and the like)
