So, I got used to the game crashing randomly when I click on something in port (like switching captains around, trying to buy upgrtades or whatnot), or when pressing the battle button ... or when the game loads.

Annoying, but at least not impacting my gameplay aside from maybe missing a couple seconds of the match start.

But with the last patch, the game also started completely freezing up ingame at random. I have to manually kill the process and restart the game. I don't think I'll have to explain exactly how frustrating and game impacting THAT is.

The usual disclaimers:

My PC is plenty powerful enough to run the game, don't even ask.

My PC is NOT full of bloatware or other programs running in the background, it's just the game, TeamSpeak and my antivirus running at the same time at any given moment.

Yes, the game and TeamSpeak have the proper clearances/exceptions so the antivirus doesn't interfere.

Yes, the game also has the proper firewall exceptions.

No, I don't have any mods installed.

Yes, the game has had a fresh install just prior to the last patch and the client's integrity check came out all clear.

No, support can go twirl their fingers about some other problem, because I have ZERO confidence in them being able to solve "random gamefreezes without error code" anytime soon ... that is if the first instance of support even knows anything aside from touching the power button.

So, barring some fringe esoteric, untraceable incompatitiblity I'm reasonably certain that the problem causing those issues is NOT of my making (or otherwise within my power to eliminate) and I'd very much like it if WG could UN*Edited their game into something that is a bit more stable than a Jenga game stack during an Richter scale 10 earthquake.

Kthxfixit

I have tried everything suggested except the drop test.  I still get freezes in the beginning of battle that sometimes require using the Task Manager to end task.  When I finally get in I am either dead or damaged because my ship is a sitting duck.  I don't have any problems in port it's always going from the Order of Battle into the Battle Screen.  It happens in NA and PT as well.  I complained in the bug reports for PT and so did others but since enough people can play they don't consider it a significant problem!  6.14 is worse than any other version.  Today it froze on the first game I have had 2 uneventful games so far.  It doesn't seem to like it if you alt-Tab so some reason.  Other programs run just fine but WOW is persnickety.  I hate losing Camo and Signals as well as the 0 0 0  result really drags down stats.

Run a RAM check, also advise inspecting dust levels inside the PC case (and maybe seeing if the thermal paste needs to be refreshed on the CPU). Do you have your new video card already? Have you checked the drivers, and their cross-compatibility? Have you by any chance switched from an AMD to an nvidia or vice-versa? What is your OS?

I understand your frustration my friend, I used to have glitches like that too :|

Drivers are up to date (and compatible) and I had just gotten new RAM three weeks ago and the initial RAM test I did upon installing those came out without any errors).

Dust is no issue, I just cleaned the entire case when I replaced my RAM.

Like, I'm 99% certain that it's the game that's simply being unstable as hell for some reason (possibly because of my specific hardware combination, who knows, but considering my PC meets and exceeds the requirements there shouldn't be such erratic behaviour).

i remember when using my old R9 270X i had random crashes with some updates. the only conclusion i could come to was that the GPU and the game engine sometimes do not want to work together

Have you tried reinstalling the game since you changed the hardware?

Or have you tried the "Two inch technical drop" which is basically dropping any electronic equipment from two inches. Surprisingly it seems to work on a lot of electronics

I'm seeing the same thing. Since recent update I get 'mini freezes' in game ~1-2 seconds and then back to normal.

Are you running any OC? Even if you don't it doesn't hurt to stresstest and see if any errors come up. Do prime / linpack first for CPU and mem but also get some GPU testing software in the mix like Furmark. I've been out of the loop for a few years now so testing software might have changed / evolved into something better now.

Apparently you can also edit config files for micro stutter issues

The only thing i have is that the game randomly minimizes and i have to wait a few seconds till its up again after clicking the icon in the taskbar.

Annoying when it happens in-game, less so when in port.

Could it be the PSU? If that thing is dying of old age, it can crash the game.

Since last patch particularly, I've had more glitches than usual, port UI freezes etc, but also had alot of lag in game at times after installing the official modpak and smart panels didn't work. I ended up running the integrity check, which to put it mildly failed after it disappeared up its own butt hole and took the client with it. I ended up doing a full re install and switching to Aslains modpak. Everything seems ok now.

Seems I'm not the only one in my clan to have issues, lots of us have had lots of glitches and issues since 6.12 has been released.

How long and what OS have you been using? I had to reinstall my OS once when it started going erratic from all the crap I installed on it (not viruses, mind, just loads and loads of apps that were never properly cleaned off).

I only have problems with freeze/stutter and the occasional crash when I alt-tab to windows, especially during loading times. But recently if I alt-tab when in port for a couple of minutes and then come back, the framerate in port drops to like 0,5fps and it may take up to several minutes until the FPS return to normal.

To eliminate CPU overheating as the cause you can try to limit max CPU "percentage" in "Power Settings" to, say, 70% and see whether it starts to behave better.

It helped me in tracking random hangs in WoWS. The box I use is quite hot (small standard mini-tower case and GTX 580 alone = 244W...) and it revealed that the CPU heatsink definitely needed repasting and cleaning.

Other "hardware" sources of random hangs (apart from overheating various elements) may be memory errors or disk problems (which in turn can be induced by overheating), or the power supply struggling or failing.

Generally, when the problems are not common (with fat threads even here on the forum), most probable cause is your machine and/or your software.

Holy crap, I'm not the only one who gets his game randomly minimizing? I legit thought it has to be my pc / keyboard as I never heard anybody else had that

Three disconnects in the middle of the battle. I had a lot of d/c issues lately. It starts after 0.6.14 patch.
