Played some ranked last night, and more tonight. Tonight I had a 6 wins vs 1 loss (star save) record in HSF Harekaze. I did play OK, I think (including two dev strikes). In two games I liked the result on the score sheet (at least for my team). One with 5 players within 52 Base XP, one - my ranking out button - with the whole team above 1000 Base XP. Goals were to get the Strasbourg Campaign finished (and with the doubloon compensation get myself Massachussetts), get stage 4 of the Dockyard finished, and - as when I looked at it, I was so close, get the Science of Victory Campaign finished, for which I needed a game earning 750 Free XP, and as final mission play a single game in Co-op or Randoms. For the 750 Free XP mission I went with Königsberg, fully decked out in flags and camo, in Randoms. The game was made eventful by our two DD's guarding the middle channel on Two Brothers, and then deciding to suicide in the middle of it - despite the team begging them not to, and to be of more use by spotting on either flank., We benefitted from at least part of the enemy team trying to win harder, while our right flank decided to come help the left when they had won theirs. I really thought it was a CoOp battle... So next I took out my Krispy Kreme, to calm down a bit... ended in a T7 battle (as so often...) and as so often those nasty T7 ships just kept ignoring me... The game ended with me sailing straight ahead a a Kongo (yeah, not 7 but still a mean mudda) while widdling it down with HE shells and bouncing (most) AP shells sent at me... Shortly before I got in torp range the Kongo exploded and the game ended with a win, 78k damage, 3 sinkers and 5k (WoWs S&N) PR... and the #1 slot of the Exp result team list... And for lulz (and missions..) I gave the Kamikaze a ride. A nasty ride in a T5 battle... The obvious sealclubber on the enemy team was a player in a Gremlin... So... No CVs around... time to do some spotting and harassing... and spotting and harassing I did... so much, that our flank was devoid of enemy ships (with me taking three of them down) while we still mustered five... The only enemy ship left was - wait for it... - the Gremlin.. last spotted above the enemy cap (standard battle...) So, while the three surviving and the surviving rushed the enemy cap, I set course to our cap... and, as if by magic, there it was, that little Gremlin, coming around an island.... Took a hard port side turn, released all krakens torpedoes and pushed the smoke button, but still the Gremlin managed to take me out (alas, I had been down to 40% HP, while the Gremlin was still nearly full HP)... Too bad for him, that with one of my few shots I damaged his rudder... which kinda f*cked up his attempt to dodge my torps... so... Boom... One sinker from the grave, again.. and a win. So... total of four sinkers, 108k damage, 5.4k PR and a dead Gremlin... which ended on the same spot of his team in the result as I of in my team - ZZ Top... Okay... enough bragging... At one point I thought we were going to lose. Good players on both sides. A bit frustrating to play with this dispersion, and can't really take much heat either. But I try to keep mid range, 12-15 km, and my play in her starts to get better. This battle was quite one sided, my team did not know what to do and just died one after another. Missouri was holding one flank and I another, but with no support it was an impossible game to win. Even when I brought Martel to 360 HP no one finished him off despite being closer than me. I had no chance with slow reload.
