In the wakefull I'm not good enough to carry although i ended up in the top 6 of all my battles with this vessel. I barely managed a 50% winrate today, and only because I did the nasty stuff, like taking my Smith for a ride... Smith - 32k damage done, 3 sinkers and a win... or my utterly nasty Vampire in a T4 2 CV battle... Vampire - 93k damage, 2 sinkers and nearly got one of the enemy CVs in the end if not the counter had reached 1000 for our win right then... But really nasty it got when I took my Minekaze for a ride... y'know, the Kamikaze with the nerfed torpedoes... with a 10pt captain... Somehow I managed to hold a full flank nearly alone, gathering 88k damage, 3 sinkers and a 5574 WoWs S&N rating in our win... I also had a nice battle in my Fiji with 92k damage - only 1 sinker - and 33 planes (from a ranger I think) shot down in a win... people just actively managed to ignore me and if they didn't I was able to smoke up and go on shelling everything in range... The utterly most grand battle of my day came in my - wait for it... - Dunkerque in a T8 battle (which had only T6 CVs *phew*) Again I found myself in the need to hold a whole flank almost alone, while seeing the other flank crumbling... we had one cap against two the enemies held. At least one of our DDs had managed to break through and sank the enemy CV and then kept spotting the enemy ships from behind... I already had gathered a couple kills and some damage, when my "big moment" came - the enemy Massachusetts decided to show me broadside... probably thinking "I'm a big nasty T8 and that's only a lousy french T6 who probably shoots HE like all those french BBs I meet..." until there were some hard AP impacts, citadels and whatnots... although it took a second salvo to sink it.. Shortly after, with no repairs left and the need to further push along, I met my fate though - torps.. them nasty torps - but now we were ahead 2 to 1 caps and also had the numbers advantage on surviving ships... so the battle was won. I got a Kraken and a couple other Awards - fireproof and stuff - and managed 104k damage, which for me isn't bad... I'd rather not talk about some of the other matches I had today... I prefer not to remember them to closely... oh, the pain of seeing a CV unable to stop a cap counter because instead of going for the big phat capping BB he decided to go after some cruisers... *sigh* No.. Tier X match incl an enemy Hakuru and Talinin: top 1 loser by a mile The most fun part was dodging 4 torpedo strikes from 1 attack wave and the carrier losing a whole 1 plane. One. Uno. Good thing he didn't hit me, but his teammates sure did. GG WG carriers are fun! All seemed lost when my last 2 allies exploded, the enemy CV was obviously skilled. At that time they held 2 caps.....team was ranting already, prepared for a -1 rank. Capped to slow the counter down. No secondaries on this tub, close quarters combat is a no go. Enemy was closing in to force close quarters combat as he does have secondaries. Almost deplaned as well, which is easy on a Saipan. Team rants why i don't start my aircraft.....Things look bleak indeed. Long story short.....at ~10 seconds before the enemy won that CV exploded. I guess no one expected that myself included. A Massa that was dead for at least 5 minuts still royally beat me in score. In my country there is a ( cynical ) saying "when you win you have friends" Not that +2 karma will keep me from 0 karma very long..... 3 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Also while at it, one last battle with Shimakaze for getting the second endowed Nelson: The last battle also got me 2 of the missions for the German CVs: the 200k damage one and the 14 torp hits one. I decided to take out Friesland in Co-op, and that was NOT a wrong decision. In this game the bots did cooperate spectacularly well. [OGHF] Cyclops_ Players 2,108 posts 36,211 battles Report post #14548 Posted July 28, 2020 I don't know about anyone else, but this is definitely a Record for me, this CV targeted me in a Random Standard battle for the WHOLE of the battle only stopping when I eventually caught up with him and sank him to win the battle. I shot down 50 of his aircraft, pretty good for a Leander I think, although we had 2 CV per side, NOT once did I ever get any support in the way of air cover from either of our CV's, sad really. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
