I agree that 99.99% of the time whining about kill-stealing is immature and that enemy ships should be sunken no matter who dealt the most damage. But there are situations when trying to get the kill endangers the battle. For example, a ship using damage control, getting flooded soon after, and having less than 10k HP is guaranteed to sink. If that ship is far away, fleeing, most of the guns pointing the wrong direction, and other enemies are much closer, it is utter stupidity to try sinking her. I've seen a mission lost by two cruisers firing at such a ship (despite me warning them that she will sink on her own), while showing full broadside to an enemy heavy cruiser 5-6 km from them, which proceeded to delete both of them in two salvos. While they were happily sniping at the doomed enemy BB at 16km+. Another annoying case was when my team played exceptionally poorly and I was lucky enough to save the almost lost battle, by sinking 4 enemies, dealing enough damage to the rest to get both high caliber and confederate, until only a completely deplaned enemy carrier was left (and me and 2 of my teammates). At the end I had more than double base xp then the second place, several dead teammates congratulated me in chat for saving the battle. I wrote in chat that I hope for the kraken. I set the enemy carrier on fire, and after DC was used, I torped her. 3k HP, sinking. "Let me have kraken pls" in chat. Then, one of my teammates, who spent almost the entire battle behind an island, contributing next to nothing, comes out and kills the carrier. That same guy was playing CV later, and while I was burning down a battleship (dmg ctrl on cooldown, no way he would survive that) this guy decided to torp him, while fully aware that guy was dead anyway because voice chat. Considering how CVs will be played after the rework - and the new peopletatoes that will play them - there will be lots of this in the future... And to write something fitting for the thread's theme: Had a good day considering the win/loss rate today with 62.5% wins, but my stats... my oh my... The game to save the day came - once more - in the Krispy Kreme. After calling out a Kamikaze in the enemy team for "intending to club poor helpless (T5) BaBByeals" I then set course from the middle of the southern side of the Solomon (Domination) map to the C cap, starting to molest poor little BaBBseals as soon as the mountains were low enough to shoot over them, not stopping with it 'til the game ended... Disgusting ship, the AP on it is brutal, thank Bob, as the HE is so weak I don't use it. Had a Purrfurst game after those, but it was just a standard 116k damage battle. I felt exactly the same when this happened to me... 262 battles in the Krispy Kreme later - still only a meager 51.91% winrate - I really LOVE this little trollship. It even carried me to Rank 1 in the first sprint ranked - played her exclusively! And today, I had another trollish battle in it: T6 battle - only a couple T6 BBs/Cruisers/DDs, but two T5 CVs per team - Domination on New Dawn, starting South - and I immediately set course to the C cap, after some friendly banter with an enemy Kamikaze commander (-> "Damn sealclubbing Kamikazes.. always out to club poor, helpless little T6 BaBByseals" which he agreed to). A Spee was the first enemy coming into my range and the rainbow of hot HE love started... the poor sod tried to defend himself, shooting HE at me, but didn't do much damage. I didn't do that much damage either with each hit, but the constant dakka-dakka-fire-dakka-fire-dakka-dakka took it's toll. And with a bit allied help he soon went down and I was able to go after other targets... A while later I managed to club the sealclubber, but only after he had taken his toll by sinking three of my teammates. After that I managed to annoy two more enemy ships, which were sunk by our CVs though, and capped B. Next I went after the last surviving enemy ships - their CVs... The Zuiho send a full load at me, lost some planes, but didn't do too much damage to me. Two CVs sank each other, so it was one enemy CV vs. one CV, an afk DD and me... I managed to spot that Zuiho and got it to burn, but his second plane strike was done a lot better than the first, so my Krispy Kreme went down... As we were ahead by 300+ points and the counter already was at ~900 this wasn't even relevant... and shortly later the battle was won. So.. two sinkers, only 39k damage and 9 planes shot down... not too bad. Believe me, You can learn to love this little trollship... The rainbows of fiery HE love make it utterly lovable!
