The seventh ship of this name in the US Navy, the "Big Mamie" saw a lot of action - starting with the gun duel against the unfinished French battleship Jean Bart in the Battle of Casablanca in 1942 (in support of Operation Torch USS Massachusetts fired 98% of her main gun ammunition). The main part of her career was however spent providing heavy AA support to US carriers in the Pacific, working her way closer and closer to Japan - until, on August 9, she fired probably the last battleship main gun salvos of World War II during the bombardment of the Kamaishi steelworks. Along with her sister, USS Alabama, she was preserved as a museum ship.   Note that we will try to make her different from her sister - but everything depends on the testing!
