Katori ?

Hello,

With the Update 0.6.10. the Katori, was to become availible to buy. But it´s only so on the NA server and not on the EU server! Why is it so?

EU and NA have different availability on premium ships. Don't ask why. So, you want to check changelog from EU website, which in case of 0.6.10 says following:

On NA they did indeed add Katori.

 

 

Also WoWS Wiki is mainly written by NA (iirc), so regarding premium ship avaibility via client you want to check the changelog from region specific website instead of from Wiki to get accurate information.

For EU we had the chance to get the Katori back during the Great Naval Battles event for free.

NA previously could only get it by purchasing the crazy "every premium ship in the game"-pack which they sold in the NA store a while back.

 

I'm guessing WG-EU wants to keep Katori more as a trophy of the GNB event for now, as it was the most expensive ship you could get in that event.

But I'm also fairly certain that we'll see it again on the EU server at some point since they never promised that it would be limited to the GNB.

Ye, at some point they'll definitely put a price tag on her also on EU, to cash the collectors.  Katori should stay as a collectors item. Overall I'd like to see more "collector" ships, but how those would be distributed is a question.

 

Well, at least Iwaki and Arkansas will stay unique(rare) for ever. Hopefully

I would probably sacrifice the exclusivity of the Arkansas if it meant I could get the Iwaki as well.

It's fun to look at and the real thing had the misfortune of being obliterated by the Iowa.

This is preposterous, testers' vehicles/vessels have never been released as pay-to-get premiums. It's not going to change, it hasn't since WoT's release.

My Katori Experience today:

 

Played my Katori once. Met tons of nice suicidal babyseals. Clubbed happily along. Game was won. Got a Kraken. Did 110k damage. And I even assisted in a cap.

 

Played Orion later. Had two Katori on enemy team - at least one freshly bought one - and ended up sinking one of them. It nearly broke my heart, when the mass of high caliber HE penetrated that little fellow..

Well Kotori outranged most BBs but when they uped BB range she was hit a bit. Still not as hard as Yubari wich get ourranged by 99% of the ships its meets.

Yep played around with Katori with a divmate today. we came to the conclusion that we'd take Katori to a tier 4 match rather than Yubari any day... the lack of range, aircraft and that huge citadel really makes Yubari no fun to play...

 

Katori on the other hand is actually reasonably fun.. Dont let the slow max speed fool ya, the guns shoot exactly where you aim, the torps have good range and firing angles, the catapult fighter provide a lot of free info and the low citadel will save you from any sort of one shotting. Actually one of my fav ships in a while.

Well, Katori is the fat little sister of the slim beautiful Yubari... Katori just hobbles along and Yubari has to dance and wiggle her slim behind a bit to not suffer unwanted penetrations.

 

I noticed, that when sailing around in the Katori you often get ignored as a target... seems some people don't see her as a threat until it is too late. I even managed torpedo "runs" - well, rather "torpedo slow walks..." - twice during the last two days, sinking two BBs which had me in plain sight, but rather shot at other targets (in one case even a DD that was several km further away from the BB than my Katori was).

Result was a 74k damage done battle today.

 

Might be that the amount of babyseals has grown...

Bought it as soon as I saw it on the store page. It may be slow and ponderous, but it's a surprisingly good little ship nevertheless. Definitely a must have collector's piece!

I often find myself comparing my Katori's torpedo "runs" to a child bowling.

Until the very last, excruciating moment of the endless run down the lane, you have no idea if it's going to be a strike or a gutterball

so now the last of the "reward" ships from the whole ruby event is just another premium.........so glad i put so much time and effort in getting the smith and katori back then, just to see them being giving out to all.

You can get Nikolai in a supercontainer.

And in last years Santas Presents both the Grem and Nikolai were included. I bought lots of them and got the Nikolai (and 3 other premiums Tirpitz, LoYang, Anshan) it is RNG but then it was a good chance to get Nikolai if you already had premiums as the system seemed to know which you had (you could if you bought 5 gifts at the same time get duplicates) but not otherwise so the Nikolai turned up. But I have the majority of premiums and the ship chances in the gifts at least the expensive 5 EUR were decently high, otherwise you got 40 if I remember Prem camos or so for 5 EUR. So check if they do a similar event, they were fairly descriptive what you could get and there were lots of forum threads, I bought when I saw the Nikolai turn up for several different members.

They're not being given out, you have to buy them. Why should you be the only one with nice things? Stop being selfish, it's a bad trait.

on some game i noticed the opposite .... i got a hail of fire from all sides 

 

tho i positively love my Katori .... fun to play albeit slow and yep torpedo run (nordic walking, rather?) can be hilarious (i.e.: launching two random torps on the edge of an island while going around the other way and one shooting a DD that was trying to get your [edited], is rewarding ...)
