ajb13 Beta Tester 663 posts 12,465 battles Report post #1 Posted September 13, 2017 So the Tier 5 ship that has ROLF stomped every thing it could possibly meet is finally getting a nerf - I'm talking about H.M.S. Emerald of course! For too long most players response to seeing this ship on the opposing side has been to hit the esc key. With it's 7 152mm guns firing AP shells and it's wall of death 6 torpedo tubes per side, this ship could obliterate anything it encountered all from the safety of it's smoke cloud. But the proposed smoke changes will put an end to all that. It'll now be spotted at 5.4km if it fires it's guns, only a little under it's 6km torp range. At long last my Gneisenau may be able to take it on with a reasonable chance of success. If I can sneak up on him while he's firing at something else without the rest of his team spotting me I'll have a chance to shoot him before he can get me! Before I'd have to get into range of his hydro before I'd spot him and then I'd have 6 of his torpedoes coming straight down my throat because of course he also has the ability to do single torpedo launch instead of the usual spread! How on earth they expect you to micro manage and press the WASD keys when you're already fully occupied watching you main guns reload counter count down so that you'll be ready to fire the next salvo as soon as possible (27,26,25,24,23.....) is beyond me! And while we're at it what about that citadel? Surely they can raise it a little higher? On more than one occasion I've fired all 6 shells at it and not got a single citadel! How can I be expected to always destroy it with one salvo if I'm not guaranteed at least the 2 citadels needed to do that? And before the naysayers and cruiser apologists say I'm over reacting, the Emerald was never that OP, perhaps you should consider this. If it wasn't so OP then why are WG proposing to nerf it harder than Belfast, Perth and Leander, nerfing it just as hard as Minotaur and Fiji, and nearly as hard as Edinburgh. No one is arguing whether Emerald is a crap ship or not. What I was referring to was putting into question whether OP was sarcastic or not, it was obvious sarcasm. Now you might have intended your comment as a further joke building on his joke but to be frank I can't see it so I took it at face value. *Anyway, it was meant more as a jab than an insult but it's clearly too early in the morning for me to discern the difference. To be fair, Emerald was never a strong ship to begin with. I've never heard of anyone liking her, the best I've heard is "she's not TOO bad". Making a bad, smoke-dependant ship even worse (and being hit harder than strong ships like Belfast) is just another way to poke fun at WGs grand schemes. Nearly everyone on the forum agrees that Belfast is OP, and that the smoke changes are at least in part to indirectly nerf a premium ship that they will not directly nerf. Therefore the logic of Belfast is OP Emerald is being nerfed harder than Belfast Emerald must therefore be more OP than Belfast trumps any amount of stats or figures you care to throw at it. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
