Well, killer whale it's here again. (my favourite operation)

and a tough one, the time it's too short, to do it all.

I've got Omaha, Emile, Furutaka, Cleveland, La Galio something and Aoba,

Since I don't have any more lines eligibly for operations, which premium ship (t5 or t6) you recommend?

 

No dds, cvs, or bbs.

I have got the Cleveland already.

in this moment it's in port in cool down period.

I need more in those lines.

Lagal or cleveland you miss Budyonny in your collection  T5 ships are worse why play with them and lower your teams chances

the first time I played killer whale (last time that it was on) I only manage to get 3 stars, a lot of 3 stars, there is not enough time to smash the port and then turn to the waves of enemy and the cvs.

So, this time around I'm staying behind to try to nail the cvs, so getting focused it's pretty much the main course. or getting the coastal upper part (forts) and the kolbert, then go back into position to try to sink the cvs while the rest of the team are smashing the port.

I could enter a division, but I don't know well how it works (division chat thing) to try to get a coordinated action of some sort. and it seems divisions are down, anyway.

If you don't have IFHE yet, Nürnberg is an option as well. Squishy as hell though.

Naturally , I have done them, and I played with T6 cruisers. LaGal=La Galissonaire, De Grasse the French prem is even better. RPM and good fire chance.

very fun game, aggressive team, good team.

we left our cv with the run role, while we tackle and sunk the cvs, our furutaka (the last two) was surrounded by seven ships.

run, somebody run.

but just not enough time.

Among premiums I've found Warspite to do really well in operations in general -- however specifically Killer Whale, I don't remember what I got my 5 stars with.

 

In many other operations the Warspite is really comfortable. Tanks a lot of damage with 5 heals, reliable mid-range punches, useful secondaries.

I'm really enjoying Molotov although it may not be the best time to use it. (With all those RN BBs going about atm)

For Cas:

De Grasse and Duca are best prem ships for most operations because they are fast ships, good guns and armed with DFAA. You can outrun your team to go CV hunting or outrun enemies if outnumbered

Molotov is very good support ships, but its AA is so bad for CV hunting. Its HP pool is so low to tank multiple enemies. It is too sluggish vs torp spamming DDs. Its rudder also break frequently so Last Stand is a must.

Perth is aslo very good but only for defensive operation. it is too slow for offensive operations.

Graf Spee is not good for operations. Its slow reload hurts it too much because ou cannot kill ships fast enough to compensate for your team's stupidity. DDs will dance around your guns and you cannot do anything against them.

 

For BBs:

Warspite is the best, good gun, good AA, acceptable speed.

Mutsu is like Warspite but needs manual AA to not being dominated by TBs. its torpedo spamming ability is also handy iwhen brawling with enemy BBs and CAs

Dunkerque is good in some operations and not good in others because its guns effective depend on your position vs your enemies. Its AA is weak without manual AA.

Arizona is very good, but it is slow and long reload so you need to make each salvo count. It cannot run around the map like three others so its influence on the map is a bit limited

32kn is a good baseline for a CA or CL for me. Slower and it is sub-par, faster and it is above average, given 32kn is perfectly adequate to shift around, Perth is definitely not slow (includes the RN maneuverability) If we want slow, Graf Spee is there.

I ran a lot of operations and among the premium cruisers, one hame comes in mind:
Molotov. It works stupidly well in Killer Whale at taking out onshore batteries: one good AP salvo and there goes 22k of 30k HP. By the time the team completely destroys two, you can take down three more by yourself. It also wrecks IJN cruisers broadsiding in Aegis. Limited use in Newport.

The Graf Spee is also a decent ship, as it gets a truckload of HP+Heal. You can take a beat and keep on fighting, although at a low top speed. For fun, I ran in the middle of the fleeing transports and let the secondaries do the job. The limited barrel number mean RNG can screw you sometimes, but the caliber is unmatched among the cruisers, with great ballistics.

PS: I heard positive reviews about the De Grasse. A versatile ship with 3x3 152mm guns, decent shell ballistics and 12% fire chance (like on the Cleveland's guns). Good torpedoes and Speed Boost consumable, but fragile.

Well, the point is that I need ships to outrun DPM ships like Nurnberg and Cleveland before they melt my juicy targets. In operations, your teammates are your competitors too. The lack of range of Perth also forces it to move further to shoot at anything.

The Perth is great for Operation Killer Whale, since her single-shot torpedoes can swiftly take out the anchored battleship and carrier with one torpedo salvo each. Her smoke and spotter gives her added survivability.

The De Grasse is an excellent all-rounder for most operations.

The Graf Spee really shines in Operations, due to the easy way you can get citadels on most enemy cruisers.

The Leander is, I think, a bad choice for Killer Whale, since her AP-only guns reputedly have a hard time hurting the on-shore forts.

The Budyonny is, as always, a very strong ship in Operations.

The Molotov should be great at taking out the forts with her 180 mm AP.

Somehow I like Nürnberg for operations. the guns at the back switch quick from side. Down side is ofcourse only 3 guns on the front. But biggest asset is the torps. You get 6 on each side.

 

But if you go premium...Degrasse or Murmask (yes I know it's a tier 5).

For Leander and other 152 mm guns ships, you use AP when you are only <8 km from fort.

Couple of clan mates used the Duca on this to good effect. The KM Konigsberg and Nurnburg work well too. Basically the higher your DPM the better I find.

well, I am seeing videos about Duca and De Grasse.

they seem good ships, let's see.

Kriegs marine I only have the Konig for the moment, my goal it's Bismark. But BBs are kind of boring and in game often I end up isolate, many others bbs are unreliable to say the least (with exceptions) and the cruisers disappear as fast, so slow lane gridding, not every day.

 

I've got to see Leander/Perth and Molotov
