Hood is already back in RU shop (in fact you can get Hood, Belfast and two 9-point captains for about £40!), so i expect she'll be back in EU fairly soon.

would say get hood , nelson pure oil tanker,,

Yep, Nelson is as tanky as a wet box of dry matches.

She catches fire when someone looks at her and citadel damage when someone sneezes at her. From the other side of the map. In a DD.

Neither, both are pretty bad ships.

They both suffer from very weak AP, which is sadly quite key for a battleship. It's a bit like having DDs with a max speed of 25kn.

When the RN cruiser line was launched, people joked that the RN BB line would be HE only. Sadly WG seems to have taken it seriously.

Only thing the Hood does badly is turn. Her AP is more than good enough for me to citadel or at least get high damage volleys on other BBs. Can't comment on the Nelson as I don't have her and probably won't bother.

Nelson, at least you can hit crap. Hood has poor shells and lacks in accuracy, she is by far much tankier and faster, but I play battleships to see those 20k damage salvos. And I aint seen them with hood.

I don't see what is good about Hood. Historical value? Other than that - get Scharnhorst. It can dog fight Hood or Nelson and win it. It can be a nightmare to cruisers and pain in the arse to DD's due to low caliber guns often does decent damage. Plus it is much more fun to play. Afterall, it's a battlecruiser.

Hmmm toughey.

I have both but am noobmungous so don't take me to seriously.

Firstly if you are a collector or interested from a historical point of view then Hood all the way. Why it wasn't Rodney I will never fathom out???

Hood is solid if unspectacular. She is fast and can flex about. She can tank when angled and has very nice firing arcs. She has self defence DefAA and a massive health pool.

Her guns have the short arming fuse so are broadly similar to Nelson in that they rarely citadel BB's but obliterate cruisers and DD's.

Her gunnery is comfortable but ultimately nothing is special. You just use her speed and HP to last the duration for your team.

She's a solid standard BB that's fast with an unusual AA quirk and soft guns.

Nelson (first impressions tonight although terrible windowlickery going on). Absolutely, utterly no armour. Nope none, nuffink, zilch, nada. Takes citadel hits like a Rocky Balboa (that's a bloody lot!) and so her heal is a gimmick. I'm sure if you have 'normal teams' that can breath through their nose and not dribble you can angle to a degree but most BB shells are going to hurt.

She does though have nine whacking great guns with comfortable gunnery and the same 'soft' shells as Hood with an HE bonus. I started using the AP more though.

She can twerk her booty though for an ugly fat chick giving some unexpected torpedo beats. If you end up in a bad position there is no way to extricate yourself so its bye bye time.

CV's will love you.

Give her a month or so to settle in as it's new ship wrecking time syndrome at present.

She's probably not as team useful ultimately but her damage potential output is probably better than Hood.

If I had to choose only one it would be Highlander  ..... Hood. It's just more flexible.

Hood and Nelson are 2 faces of a coin

Hood is much more tanky and faster and better AA, but the guns are more inconsistent.

Nelson guns are very acuurate, but it is much more fragile and needs proper positioning.

I have both, though havent had much time to play this past month or so, due to work and life commitments but I played 3 battles on the bounce last night with the Nelson and she feels very very nice, great guns, plenty of damage output (I averaged 90k over the 3 battles) and had 3 wins.  Yes I know 3 battles are no were near enough to form any conculsions but she felt good, reasonable rudder time and the armour didnt feel as bad as is being described and I did come under an awful lot of fire (New ship syndrome lol, lets kill the new ship) and the heal definatly saved my butt on at least one occasion.

Look forward to divisioning up with my clan mates and taking perhaps a couple of Nelsons out, now that would cause some problems to the enemy team.

Its all in personal Preferance. Lets see what Nelson gives ya...

Nelson- Strong Heal, All three turrets are forward facing and are well armoured, Weak armour on the ship, easy to citadel and very bad AA

Hood- Average Heal, normal placement of turrets( 2 infront, 2 back), Well armoured, powerful AA defense, and a very Healthy Battlecruiser for tier 7.

What do I suggest?

Well wait for Hood. Once you get her, then you can get the XP for Nelson because To be fair, Nelson is a good ship to earn Dreadnought Achievements in. Else you get Missouri then Nelson just Because Missouri will PRINT credits for you.

I have HMS Nelson and HMS Hood,  both doing fine. HMS Nelson outperform HMS Hood slightly.

Both is imho more fun to play than Scharnhorst and they bring great big guns too the battlefield

Nelson is free. And a lot better than Hood provided you know how to play it. No-brainer question

they have very different play styles, Hood is very much a get in close and Nail them hard and fast, Nelson is a bit more, hang with your buddies, if you are singled out with Nelson you can duck and dive but you will get nailed quickly, its imperative that you stay with friendly ships. in many ways she is the BB equivalent of Atlanta, a support ship that can rain down hell but is quickly destroyed if singled out.

If you actually want to play aggressive, impact and carry the game, lead the charge and inspire your team-mates to give the other side a damn good thrashing while looking about as awesome as it's possible to look in a ship, you only have one choice. Hint: it's the not the slow fat one :Smile-_tongue:

I've been much more impressed by Nelson than Hood. Nelson has a much higher skill cap than Hood and rewards good positioning and aim. Hood on the other hand is easy to do okay in, but difficult to do well in since you are praying for good RNG to get any high damage score. Hoods tankyness and lack of any real weakness ensures you dont get many bad games though.
