they look like utter crap, personal opinion

were they copied from some 15y old game?!

if Michael Bay would've been kidnapped by North Korea and forced to make a nkr version of Battleshit, that's how they'll look like

 

the smoke disperses too fast, for comparison look at the ship's smoke stack(s)

For the gun muzzle explosions, the smoke should last ~5 seconds longer on 203mm+ guns and especially on battleships. 

Right now there's just a big explosions that completely disappears after a second and it looks kinda underwelming.

There should be lots of smoke coming from those explosions and it should stay around for a couple of seconds before fading.

Looks like some one has taken that gif of the Missouri firing and added it in game. Effect look like it has about 5 frames, very fake.

Explosion when ship dies is not bad, but big flash and ship is still intact and then slowly sinks? Effect should accompany the ship breaking apart/disintigrating or not happen.

The new torpedo water splashes are looking good, but the new smoke and fire are very bad and unrealistic. A bit like taken from a cartoon.

I haven't seen any detonations so far and i think they should be removed from the game completely, so i don't really care about how they look like.

I, in contrast, like the new effects. The gun smoke could linger a little bit longer. Maybe a proper solution against stealth fire.

The effects look nice on your own ship. But seeing other ships fire, it looks kinda silly tbh.

I like the new water splash effects, especially on the torpedoes! But the new smoke / gunfire / fire effects are like others before stated a bit wired looking.

They seem to have a low frame rate and they move a bit with the ship... all in all it doesn't look that harmonious any more... The quality of the effects doesn't fit the overall game graphic.

They look so low quality so maybe think about getting different settings for this one, to make it more volumetric and realistic, so that is fades properly and also stays in place for a while.

With such a big effect you also have to look at the motion of a ship. It looks okay if your ship is not moving but if it is moving at full speed this really locks wired.

 

I personally think this needs a rework! Or at least a switch to turn it off and stick with the normal ones until it gets a better quality.

The new effects look great. BUT... I tried to hit an evading Mutsuki one game and due to all those splashes around her it was almost impossible to recognise the movements of her:Smile_sceptic: . This sort of is a buff to active/evasive tanking.

The splashes look nice.  The fire however looks horrible. The fireblast looks way too big and while the flash is fast enough, maybe a bit slow, the smoke should linger a bit more. 

Also the fire is waaaaay to bright and it looks totally out of place.

Fire seems too yellow and looks like comic. Smoke disappears way too fast!

You're going into right direction, but there must be some more fine tuning.

And IMO gun firing sounds should have more echo. They still feel like "Boom." and not "KAAAWOOOOHM!!!!!!" :cap_rambo:

First battle on this PTS and my reaction was to wonder what the hell had happened to my Kongo, before I realised the huge bloom of orange and black along her flank were her secondary guns opening fire. Not noticed the effects on her main guns as had been zoomed in to aim.

 

I like the splashes, agree they can make it hard to see the ship that's being fired at, but bigger splashes give more sense of impact.

I also like how the fires now illuminate the ship they are burning away at. Fires look a little less superimposed and more 'attached' to the ship, to me. Are quite bright though, maybe make them a bit more smokey and smouldery (or have the fires become less intense as they burn out and get water pumped over them by the crewmen with hoses)?

Can take or leave the huge death explosion, does seem over-dramatic for most deaths, perhaps only have it for detonation or devastating strikes?

Agree about the smoke from the main battery fire, it does dissipate rather fast. Maybe have it linger a bit longer, depending on size of gun.

I really like them in general but the gunfire animations are far too fast so it looks fake. I think the animation speed needs to be slowed down a lot so that the look of the fire rolling out of the guns takes a little longer and the smoke sticks around.

 

 

On a side note - the rain effect at the start of some matches (this has been around for a couple of patches) looks utterly awful as there is rain hitting the screen but not the sea or ships so the effect looks false.

On my end it is hitting the ship! I got puddles all over the ship and little splashes from the rain hitting it. I hoped for so long now that we will get also different weather through out the battle without decreasing the spotting in a cyclone but nope... Fighting in light rain with big clouds in the sky would be so cool...

The Fireflash disappears way to fast and the effects on Battleships for example, should be more thin and with quite a bit more smoke.

 

The Explosions when a ship gets destroyed are to much Hollywood aswell in my opinion. Should differ from how the ship got wrecked. If the Ship explodes everywhere like a big bomb thats kinda unrealistic to me. Maybe if it burns down from fire. 

 

The Torpedo hits should only explode on the ship where the torpedo actually hit the ship only. In the moment the ship is exploding in the rear when hit in the front. Too much U571-hollywood movie  style!

effects are worse than a lowbudget f2p flash game.....

@Kandly I hope will receive answer at least on 1-2 of the questions down there

 

MORE IMPORTANT IDIOTIC JUMPY-FLASHING incoming fire alert indicator is absolutely unacceptable  - it distracts you too much  players which kites dont need that crap, we are good enough with current switch Detected Incoming , that new jumpy crap is for monkeys that sails @ strait line for hours....

 

I hope we will receive option to PICK WHICH OF THE UI VARIANTS to use(current IFA, Detected, Smoke screen timer place icons 0.6.9.0 and that new crap for all that will like it very very much), if there is no such option and such mod bay bay wows cash out the account xD

 

when improvement will stop meaning invisible torpedoes, smoke screen borders, ships sticking in islands, land on place of visualized water, shape shifting mountains/islands/rocks......

 

Why dont u just give us 2 variants of the game like WoT SD & HD  not some retarded hiquality sound, also why when i pick low effects that cancer did not disappear like in wot?!?!  add option OFFFFF

SD - for all of us that DONT WANT flashy pining eyes game or just with low performance PCs

      - for all of us who have problems with eyes after playing youre "improved" game  (2hours in PT gives me headache & pain in my red red eyes)

HD - For all nice effects (when u made such :Smile_trollface:)

      - when you want to make a nice video from good replay^^

      - for all hi-end pcs form current year^^

 

 

.....oooh and btw why there is no option to remove that supply ship in port, that annoying [edited] is chasing me all around the world ports, cant get decent screen shot of my favorite ships :Smile-angry:!!!!!

I think the new effect are really good. The fires upon the ship is i think the most realistic fire effect ive seen in a game. And the big explosions when a BB shoots of a full salvo is just epic. Loving the new torpedo splashes and explosions as well. Only thing i had a little issue with is if you aim at the bow of an oncoming BB and he fires at you, he totally disappears in a ball of fire and its hard to hold the correct aim until the fire goes away.

 

One of the best updates this year in my book.

The gunfire is a step in the right direction for historicity and visual impact.  With more tweaking like some suggestions already have mentioned it would be a step further for immersion. It is true about the weird rain effect not touching the sea in stormy conditions.  Could do more with that.  The audio and visual improvements definitely add to the atmosphere despite suggestions they are dated, in HD they are really great to watch and I have gone into full BB Brawl setups to get the best out of it.  First time I bothered to take screenshots of the game. :Smile_ohmy:  So don't stop improving this,  I hope you can do something about sea spray to add further effects to the motion of the ships and work on the fluid effects of the water to add further to the immersion.  Especially things like wakes and such like.  Definitely more of this please. :cap_like:

I personally think the firing flashes are a bit too big and the animation looks weird as already mentioned, choppy and too quickly played. I appreciate the intention but the new looks don't have a realistic feel to them.

I thing the new effects are a huge step forward, but what I have noticed is that they sometimes cause immense frame drops (from constant 60fps to about 15-20fps). When the animation is finished, everything goes back to normal.

And it definitely is not my pc, I have an i7 4770k overclocked to 5.5 GHz, 32 GB RAM and a GTX1080!

I really like the intent on the new fire/hit graphics but sometimes they look really poor quality. jarringly bad at times.

specifically Its when you are looking right at them ... if they are just happening on screen and you are taking in everything its not bad and really gives you a "YES" moment but if you are looking straight at them they tend to give a "meh" moment.

every "kill" looks like a massive "magazine explosion", blowing up the ship completely.

 

thats too much

 

I like the new water splashes and the fire animation, but the kill-explosions are overdone !

As far as kill explosions go, they are very nice. Hope to see something even more spectacular with magazine detonations.

 

Water geysers (both from shells' splashes and torpedo explosions) could last a little longer. Same for smoke from both muzzles and fire after sinking ships.

 

Muzzle flashes and fires are way better then previously, but for me, they need to be little tuned, at this point they seem little over the top.

Yep, fire and smoke on sinking ships disappear before the flames/smoke touch water

It works fine in the regular release, I mean better than the new.
