Mutsu and Ishizuchi

So made a load of Half price Doubloons over the summer sale. Was waiting for Mutsu to come on sale.. She is here so bring on tomorow..

Thing is boys and girls the do I get Ishizuchi as well.. You thoughts and reasons behind them please

I'm getting the itchy sushi just because at 50% off it is less expensive than almost any other premium save the Tachibana.

That's a real bargain. I also must say that when I played against a Ishizuchi the ship made a good impression compared with the bad press it's having because of the AP.

According to some people it's a real arsonist's delight.

After two rounds of buffs and for half price Ishi is more than worth it, even though it started as completely shamefur crap worthy of immediate sudoku.

It's much better now, I'd say go for it. Good sealcubber ship to play for fun. AP is viable now, with HE as strong as it always was, and it looks great!

When has it been buffed? Just curious about it.

Quite a long time ago. Can't remember exactly when, over a year ago. It used to be a pretty poor ship good only for flinging HE, but I believe it's since been made more accurate and been given longer range to now be viable.

Yeah that was in the recent patch that changed a lot of the low tier gun ranges. But what I'm asking is whether the AP shattering on BBs has changed.

 

PS: With a 2.0 sigma and 25s reload it's a good gunboat.

Well looks like 2 new IJN BBs in port tomorrow.. I like low tier BB to retrain commanders keeping free Commader XP for making 8 new point commanders (looking at you RN BB). Often take out my Arkansas Beta with a CV commander in with little or no detriment to her Performance. As you say  at 1250 Dubloons seems like a steal

Yup, and RN cruisers just made it better, I took my Ishizuchi out when they came out and battles where flooded with Danaes and Emeralds and I literally got one battle where all my shots were citadels, not one single regular shot.

Itchy Suzy has always been amazing - just remember you are playing a BC not a BB and let the fun commence.

I think that the Ishi was my first premium ship - great fun. (No idea about Mutsu).

 

Buffs - they also buffed her cammo value as well IIRC?

Yeah, along with the gun range, so the detection range of any low Tier BB is at least slightly under its gun range (to avoid them being kited without being able to respond)

Mutsu is great fun when you aren't in a T8 game.

AP was always viable on Ishi. It just got better. It is perfect for cruiser hunting, and for BBs you should treat them all as german BBs and target the upper belt.

I once citadeled a Kongo from the front.

At T4 the ship is way less important than the player steering the ship. On average you'll have far more map awareness and a better target selection than most players. Thus, these stats (after 145 battles in her):

 

Can be achieved rather easily. And makes the Sushi a sealclubber that's somewhat equal to the Imperator. Not in terms of raw gun power, but due to her agility and toughness. 

 

I like playing her, but try to limit myself to +100% XP weekends (to farm commander XP)...

Ishthing is the original fire spammer BB.

 

Folk should remember this when they play RN BBs.

 

I like mine but I barely play her. Probably best with an Atago captain in there maybe.

Both are good enjoyable ships that are fun to play and with the offer why not.

Ishizuchi can be fun to play, but with its lack of torp protection, plane and AA it kinda feels like playing t3. Just feels more barebones than Myogi. And honestly, in a tier where 2x CVs happens quite often, not having any AA on a massively long hull feels like asking for a double crossdrop. But yeah, it's great for firespamming and most of my Arsonists are from there.

but ranked season has clearly shown that the mutsu is not a verry strong ship

Ok I didn't go beyond Rank 12, might be higher ranks is different. But I could basically farm high caliber achievements.

Mutsu* = Nice IJN BB. If You like the Fuso, the Mutsu will be okay for You. Torps are a nice gimmick against overzealus DD players.

 

* still looking for a nice nickname for the Mutsu. The only thing I could come up with yet was "The Elvis", because Elvis Presley once sang that old german folk song "Mutsu denn, Mutsu denn zu-hum Städele hinaus..."

well mutsu is not as bad as thoise stats make it look like  but imho its not a good ship (atleast not for ranked)

and getting beaten by the dunkerque..... well that says a lot

 

if you did well in it im 99% certain you would have done much better in a Fuso

I think Mutsu is like a moody girlfriend: She can be very mean and doesn't forgive mistakes.

Can't say much about my stats with BBs during ranked - and I wouldn't value them much anyway, as ranked is full of potatoes - but from my experience as a mediocre player, the Mutsu just fits in with my other BBs nicely.

 

Warspite: 48k average damage, 57% WR

New Mexico: 49k ad, 59% WR

Fuso: 50k ad, 52% WR

Dunkerque: 53k, 53% WR

Mutsu: 50k, 61% (high winrate due to smaller sample size I guess..)

 

So imho the Mutsu isn't that much different from the other BBs, if you know how to survive in it.
