[NWP] __Helmut_Kohl__ Beta Tester 4,156 posts 18,919 battles Report post #5 Posted August 11, 2017 The new smoke nerf is still not live and it will be a variant of the first one, so it should not effect Perth and her marathon generator. (Which is why I bought her. )

creamgravy Players 2,780 posts 17,292 battles Report post #7 Posted August 11, 2017 New smoke mechanics have been included in 0.6.9 but haven't been fully activated (i think) Perth has a Smoke Penalty value of 0.42 if you fire main guns (secondaries have a value of 0.0001) After a very quick test in the training room. 1. Ships are spotted for a few seconds longer after going in smoke, esp form planes 2. Perth occasionally gets spotted when firing guns in smoke. Edit. A full broadside makes you spotted for ~1 second. As a work around only shoot 1-3 turret salvos.
[MEN] Captain_Singleton Players 3,184 posts 20,113 battles Report post #8 Posted August 11, 2017 dunno, seems ok to me, but i hold the mouse to fire one turret after the other, rather than full salvo...
[NWP] __Helmut_Kohl__ Beta Tester 4,156 posts 18,919 battles Report post #9 Posted August 11, 2017 The new smoke mechanics are still being tested and NOT in the patch notes. It must be a bug.

It's all under the hood changes that 'hasn't been turned on', all the new smoke penalty values can be seen at https://gamemodels3d.com/games/worldofwarships/vehicles/destroyer For most the mechanics should be no different from 0.6.7 but Perth is unique and won't have have been fully tested. 20 minutes ago, Salentine said: i just tried it's fine... You can replicate the bug in the training room. Make sure your plane spotted to remove any new smoke blob blocking LOS to a ship. I'm undetected and fire a full salvo. (enemy ship and planes are near enough to spot me) I get detected by both ship and planes in my smoke. The new blob blocks LOS to ship but I'm still plane detected. Causing me to be ship spotted too. Finally undetected after 5 seconds.

[NWP] __Helmut_Kohl__ Beta Tester 4,156 posts 18,919 battles Report post #14 Posted August 11, 2017 Those changes are from supertest. Like you said, not activated. Perth only has a long lasting generator and short lasting smoke. I don't see where it uses a different mechanic.

They don't read that section.

[COUGH] The_Tipsy Players 22 posts 17,162 battles Report post #21 Posted August 19, 2017 It is a bug. I have a 19 point skill captain on my Perth, so i have played it a lot. The smoke mechanics of the Perth are unique - lots of short duration puffs allowing you to move at quarter speed and remain undetected. 2 new issues: 1. Spotted between puffs - every few seconds. I think stationary stationary, but certainly at quarter speed - you are detected between each puff. This is new, this is real, this is a bug; and 2. The smoke counter - instead of counting down the full smoke cycle - counts down a few seconds for each puff, and then starts again. This gives you no clue as to when the smoke is going to run out, which was the whole point of the counter in the first place. I have played the Neptune and i don't think it happened with that ship - but as it only gives a few puffs, it may not have shown up the way it does with the Perth. WG - please fix!
