Turkish Premium Ship Project

Captains

As one of the larger groups in World of Warships, the Turkish community would like your support in getting a ship from the Turkish Navy added to the game.

The ship chosen by the community is the destroyer TCG Gayret, formerly HMS Oribi of the Royal Navy. In her wartime career this ship had a large variety of tasks, from spy hunting in the English channel and supporting Commando raids to convoy escorts in the Mediterranean and Atlantic - where she even rammed a German submarine!

Now we need your support to complete this project. With your votes we hope to launch this historic vessel into World of Warships, so spread the word to your fellow Captains.

O class is also in tech tree right? If so, it's basically just asking for a(nother) reskin so I don't see why this shouldn't happen.

I do hope WG will eventually put all the 'minor nations' in an EU tech tree just like they are doing with Pan-Asia ( don't think Turkey can/will have a full tech tree, might be wrong though :Smile_hiding: ).

For now there is no O class destroyer in tech tree. Maybe after the RN destroyers arrive they can add another O class destroyer to tech tree. Because of that this will be better than a re-skin premium ship (my opinion). And yes Turkey can't be have a tech tree but there is very historically important ships we have like Yavuz and Midilli. :cap_hmm:

certainly some of the Ottoman WW1 ships would be interesting. Must confess I know little of their WW2 era vessels.

Probably not. It's a smaller WEP destroyer with old inter war mounts (tier 6.5) Not exactly a straight copy/paste job either.

HMS Orbi is unique as she was never fitted with 2x4 torpedoes, your stuck one quad launcher and a 4" Mark V AA gun. (Unless Turkey fitted the second set?) Tier 6 would still be fine though.

Weapons.

4x 120 mm/45 CPXVIII (Gallant guns)

1x4 Mark IX* torpedoes (Fiji Torpedoes)

Consumables.

Torpedo reload booster, Speed boost, Standard smoke.

In game AA.

Gayret 1946 DPS Base range (km)
102 mm/45 QF Mk V (1) 3 3.5
‎40 mm 2-pdr. Mk VII (1) 14 2.5
Oerlikon (2x2, 2x1) 19 2

Edit:

Wonder if WG would ever do a crowd funded premium?

Not to forget the following ships either: Yavuz (Battlecruiser), Reşadiye (super dreadnought) and Sultan Osman 1 (another super BB)... They would be quite interesting addition to the game. Perhaps the cruiser  Midilli as well.

German (and other nations) ships with just a Turkish flag does not make a real line....Same as having some ships from my own tiny nation that would be meaningless given they were usually either French or British built....

Well Yavuz for example, served in Turkish Navy from 1914 until its scrapping in 1973 and had both historically and militarily important role for the Turkish Navy and the nation. If you start nitpicking and only include ships built in each country, even Blyscavica or Kongo could not be included, as they were both originally built in Britain, also all of the "Pan-Asian" and Commonwealth vessels - Lo yang, Anshan, Perth) were originally built by someone else just to mention a few.

Besides...

Aren't most of the tier 9 or 10 (even some tier 8) ships in this game just "paper ships", which never even existed except in the ambitious dreams of their designers?

At the least the ships mentioned were in reality built for and owned by Turkish navy, nevermind that Britain actually never kept their bargain and delivered them. One reason Turkish people were initially highly supportive of joining WW1 on the side of the Central powers was precisely because they were taken over by the Brits (they had been purchased by a huge crowd funding effort and this outcome really pissed a lot of people off).

Of course, Turkey would probably have joined the central powers anyway, so delivering them just before that might have been construed as stupid. So in retrospect we understand the decision. However, they could still quite legitimately make an appearance, as Turkish premium ships without fatally denting the largely fictional "historical integrity" of the game.

This would also make sense commercially, as there is a large following for this game in the said country and offering some appropriate "goodies" just makes good business sense, does it not?

Oh BTW, just to avoid any confusion here... I AM NOT Turkish myself - I am Finnish. But I do support a good cause in terms of providing more diversity of nationalities represented and more interesting ships to include in this game. Just until I myself or someone else comes up with a better game, of course.

If every ship in the game would be only British, French, German, Japanese or American it would be a tedious platform indeed.

The problem is about Turkish ship project, we actually never get a clear answers from developers. We asked almost all different questions for ex:

1- Are we going to see any Turkish vessels in game soon or later?

2- How we should follow a path for Turkish vessel project ?

3- How we gonna attract attention to developers about Turkish vessels?

etc...

All of these question's, answers are same "We cant say anything right now, also we cant say any positive or negavite comment either" so everything is blocked.

Well maybe @Tuccy or another WG stuff's has a quite nice answer for whole Turkish community

Thanks for interest

Well, the way forward eh? The obvious thing is to gather more following. Get 100 or 1000+ more comments on this thread (when the forum admins start noticing, WG starts noticing - keep them busy, don't just sit and wait for someone to take notice and comment or like, go after them). Get more Turkish players. make all-Turkish Clans and make them prominent. The only way to really affect any chance in these matters, is quite sadly, to raise additional commercial interest.

Mention this to people you are playing with in the game chats and get them to "like" it and contribute a comment and so on. It is all up to you really and WG will become interested by default, when they are convinced that the market is there. For this end, perhaps research more on the aforementioned ships (blueprints, history, stats) to justify, why they would be so interesting to gamers, as to sell well as premium ships.

That should be no Problem for Sultan Osman I though, since she was demonstrably a monster.. THE super dreadnought with record weight of broadside for all time (14*305mm guns people!). That alone warrants a feature in this game. The other ships have similarly interesting histories, point them out. Put out an address with a 5.000 active players signatures on it (note that they do not necessarily need to be Turkish, just people interested in ships and perhaps, history) and send that to WG.

There is a lot of stuff you can do, but you have to do it yourself. There is no such thing, AS WG sponsored path to success on this one. After all, who's gonna believe in this idea, if you don't? You have to "sell" it to them just like a pair of granny's old socks. So be aggressive! Now giddy-up Sailor, Yohou, hoist that anchor  and get on moving!! :cap_rambo:

Example. Do like this, do it a lot and don't be shy about it! :

Say: "Hi, take a look at my thread and comment please:"

And BOJOING! marketing done (see what I did there Hehe?)

Actually I forget to do this all the time too. DOH!:Smile_facepalm:
