Vanhal Alpha Tester 5,609 posts 5,569 battles Report post #2 Posted August 3, 2017 I would get your usual weekly missions, then: - Remove the "in single battle" requirement. - Replace all the achievment requirements like the Kraken on more grindy but less RNG-y requirements, like instead of 5 frags in one battle, make this 15 in any number of battles, and so on. - No more specific nation kills requirement, and the damage nation requirement only applicable to nations with all 3 lines: BB, CA and DD. - In the case of missions designed for specific class or nation, reduce the minimum tier to 4+. - For the above requirements, current rewards like in the Battle of Savo are ok. Weekends. Look at NA. Something like this. Irregular missions - look at RU. PS. I may have not understand the thread topic entirely (and on purpose), but it's really, really, REALLY time to finally do something about totally lackluster EU events and missions. After all EU players dont want to get spoiled too much from EU missions, EU players would do fine with the basic RU missions. 1. Copy/pasta with a few edits to here (note that I wrote this before this week's mission changes, which I actially like): Suggestion: split the weekly event. One frequent critic of these missions was: "I will neverever complete it cause its so friggin hard/RNG/whatever", that people ignored them. Designate the first 3 missions as "basic weekly mission", sum up the others in a "advanced weekly mission" - and a new one: "weekly challenge mission". Give the basic weekly mission a small reward after completion. This way people have a sense of accomplishment from easy and relaxed gameplay. advanced mission: just a single one. Let it run parallel to the basic ones. It is infuriating to finish a 3k base XP match but not being able to complete the mission cause it happened while you were on the 1st basic mission. The more if requirements are very hard or RNG related. In exchange, before anyone calls that we want more free stuff, adjust the rewards. We had plenty of weekly missions so far, by now you should have some data of what worked good and what didn't. weekly challenge: challenging missions that are not "in a single battle": We know you can count achievments, how about "get X Confederate" or "get Y Kraken" or "get Z High Caliber" during the week? Devestating strikes, first bloods and whatnot, plenty to choose from. Finish all of the weekly challenges for some extra goodies. Without this being gated from other missions. Stuff for your 1%. Without too much RNG. To sum it up, you have: something to do for casual players: 3 basic missions, similar to the current ones with similar rewards. Stuff achievable by most players and they have an easy goal to aim for. I'd expect maybe a third to half the playerbase to complete these. a single hard mission for the good players (advanced mission). Mission difficulty like weekly #4 or #5. Reward 1M credits or things like 10 camos, a pack of flags and so on. Maybe 10% completion rate. something to do for the hardcore crowd (weekly challenges). Stuff that isn't easy and stuff that does not rely that much on RNG as much as the advanced mission. No "in a single battle" stuff. For example: get a Kraken or 5 Confederate or 10 first blood achievements within the week. Or get 10k base XP, but only matches with >2k base XP count. Just no clear sky before it is fixed/reworked. But mostly achievement based stuff. Things that keep good players playing. Reward wise, similar to the advanced missions. ~10% completion rate as well. Generally I think the weekly missions should less be about gating players than simply an appeal to play more. For me personally it's not a bad thing if a broad audience completes many of the missions. I would like to add that there are currently no missions that count the team play statistics such as damage upon your spotting potential damage capture points which I want very much to be included in the future, for example a mission "Collect 300 capture points." (over any number of battles of course). With those units collected over any number of games RNG-elements are levelled out. Such a mission also points the player towards more teamplay oriented aspects of the game (in contrast to "get X kills of Y", which awards a rather selfish style). For me it looks also appealing to combine daily challenges, similar to those we have gotten with the Dunkirk event ("Gain 2000 Base-XP"), as part of a combined mission with 5 parts (first two easy, repeatable challenges "X damage/XP" or "Y ribbons") as a "complete challenge 1 at least once" with a bit more challenging missions. Rewards: ships, commanders, credits, signals, special signals, port slots, commander slots, exp, free exp, commander exp, doubloons, camos, flags, consumables, modifications, special modifications, premium time, containers. Third - Time frame (hour, day, week, month). What is my offer: Three difficulty modes with 3 missions in each other: You can choice one, but if it too hard for you, you can drop it (with loss all progress) and take another. And you can complete all three alternately. 2 weeks for all. Lieutenant (easy) - Any ships IV-VII - get 1m damage in any number of battles. One part with a 5 Missions Chain A second part with a single mission with two requirements being First : Complete the mission chain Second : Specific Type/Nation skill requiring mission. So, Chain mission (Tier IV to X): First : Kill 5 Ships (In any number of battles) Reward : Credit Container*2 Second : Deal 50000 Damage (In any number of battles) Reward : Consumable container*2 Third : Be the first to spot 2 ships & Get 20000 spotting damage (In any number of battles) Reward :Flag Container*2 Fourth : Hit 100 Main Battery shells & 15 Torpedoes Aerial or Ship (In any number of battles) Reward : One of each container Last : In a single battle earn an heroic achievement and join the top 6 of your team. Reward : 5 Random containers and a "special upgrade" The parrarel "hard" mission (T VIII to X) : - Finish all 5 stage of the chain - In a single battle Win with a Britsh Light Cruiser, dealing over 125k damage and being first of your team. Reward : 24h Premium, 10 Containers (From which you can chose the type, thus having a SuperContainer chance), A special upgrade (different from the chain). The idea with this, is to have a chain that everybody will be able finish, easy to get with not so bad rewards but not great either, that's a total of 14 Containers and a "special upgrade". In parrarel a much more difficult mission, requiring the player to have the necessary ship type but giving much more important reward. This would allow everybody to get most of the rewards, players able to only do the chain would not feel spoiled by not being able to do that extra hard mission because it is tagged has a hard mission made for long time players with lots of ships and because the rewards are close to what they got already in the chain. At the same time the long time player with all ship line grinded can get a weekly 24h premium and goodies to reward him for being a long time player with many ships in his port. Of couse rewards can be tweaked and changed weekly, I used containers cause I feel it's a good way to balance things without giving it too much thoughts, but the most important is the idea of it, having an easy chain for everyone and a parrarel hard mission for the hardcore players. robihr Players 3,168 posts 9,352 battles Report post #17 Posted August 3, 2017 i really dont mind current weekly missions if you changed only 2 things in them. remove nations criteria and remove mission chain. so instead of current format where you have 5 stages mission you simultaneously run all 5 stages as 5 separate missions(maybe even 6th that has criteria of finishing all 5 missions ). i get mostly stuck in grindy part of the stage so i usually dont finish 4th and 5th stages even though i get their requirements often while doing the grindy part. weekly mission structure: no brainer (play 3 battles/win 1 battle/kill 1 ship) little skill (sink 2 ships in 1 battle/do 50k damage in 1 battle/deal 20k fire damage in 1 battle or smth similarly easy) grindy mission (hit 50 ship torps/ set 50 fires/kill 30 ships) skilled mission (do 100k damage in 1 battle/ get 60k scouting damage in one battle/tank 1.5 million damage) heroic battle mission (earn kraken/high caliber/confederate) complete them all mission (finish 5 previous mission) mission rewards can be same as before. They have both popular and more hardcore parts, promote specific gameplay and teamplay. They are also more skill-based, better commanders will complete them a bit faster, while they are still doable for mediocre players (though more time will be needed). I tried to skip most irritating parts from current format, i.e. RNG based requirements, "in-one-battle" tasks, necessity of playing/killing one nationality and class. Constant progress, no "choke points". Battleship themed missions (7-10 days) Stages 1-5 are parallel (you can do them at the same time). You need to complete at least 4 Stages to unlock Final Stage 6. All missions are doable in any tier V+ battleship in Random battles, over any number of matches. All missions, besides final stages, are also doable in Co-op nad Ranked battles. For cruisers, rewards should be tied to damaging destroyers and cruisers, for battleships, to sinking cruisers and battleships, for CVs it should be for scouting, shooting down planes, and doing tons of damage. Depending on the time limit, anyone with the appropriate ships should easily be able to complete at least one of these chains, even if they don't play that much. A week or two seems fair to me, but something like this would be excellent for permanent missions (once per 2 weeks or once per month maybe?), as it encourages each player to play their appropriate role, in support of the other classes. With appropriate and desirable rewards, it will further encourage people to focus their efforts on a class they play well, help them to continue to be their best. I would also suggest rewards/missions based on other metrics, even more specific, such as a cruiser defending a friendly destroyer, a BB that doesn't stay on the map edge, that sort of thing, but I doubt that something like that can be done in the current state of the game. I'd encourage metrics like that to be made available, so you can try a stick-and-carrot approach: reward people for playing their role, supporting their team, giving people who don't benefit their team as much fewer rewards, something like that. The only thing that interested me would have been the Kamikaze. Then people mathed out how much wins & gametime that would take to get, vs the event duration. Until I get a a valid campaign/system to get a Kamikaze(/clone/sister ) ship, I'm not coming back to play; that was the last straw in a series of crap EU shitty player shaftings. And yes, the weekly missions did their part to contribute. I think a look at ranked gives a good look at relative player size, wasn't last season something like 8.000 US players in ranked, and 27k in EU? You're really gonna continue shafting the biggest server? -------------------------------------------- Here are absolute, non-negotiable 'NO-GO' 's for these weekly missions: * the 'tiered' system: some-one can complete 'part 4', but it won't count because he's at 'part 2'. Extremely frustrating if it is one of the more 'unicorn' requirements. * hostile nation specific requirements. IMO, it is perfectly valid to hold a 'British ships' week; weekly missions for British ships. (just have to vary things, obviously!) What is absolutely not fine: 'deal X damage/sink Y British (insert any nation) ships. Likewise, I'd give strong preference to missions 'use a DD' rather than 'sink the enemy DD'. Any missions that encourage poor tactical gameplay are crap. * "in a single battle". NO. (for the most part) * strong dislike: deal X flooding damage. GRAAAHHH. Reworked mission examples: over the week: (DD week) A) Silent hunter, hidden fisher. deal X ship-based torpedo+flooding damage. B) Counter-strike: deal 300% damage to enemy DD's (as opposed to sinking; this allows it to work reasonably well for all tiers etc). C) Earn X base XP. D) Insert main battery requirement. Deal Y% fire and direct damage? E) Take Z enemy cap points/spawns. Gather XY XP capping & contesting spawns? F) 'spotting' contribution. Mission payout: each part, A-F is running at the same time this week, each gives a small reward (flags most likely). As you complete 2, (any 2), you get the reward for 2. And so on. ----------------------------------------- IF you want to keep things like 'get 5 kills in a match', I also have an approach to make that semi-grindable: Alternative completion options: Get 5 kills in a match. OR: in 2 matches, get 4 kills each, OR, in 4 matches, get 3 kills each, OR, in 8 matches, get 2 kills each. Getting 4 kills in a match would also count as a '2-kill' and '3-kill' match. I was thinking of a "Kraken light": in 2 consecutive matches, get at least 5 kills combined. (But please, keep it civil and don't overdo it. ;-) ) Or perhaps you could cater the missions to the individual skill level. Let's say you have mission A1 "5 ship torp hits in one battle" for 10 signals, and mission A2 "10 ship torp hits in one battle" for 15 signals.
