Akizuki has 1000m/s starting velicoty ( but very light shells so they slow down during flight a lot ).

Kutuzov also has very fast shells.

You need to specify which velocity you mean though, initial velocity or impact velocity at different ranges.

For destroyers it's more or less a tie between IJN and RU DDs. As mentioned the Akizuki has the fastest initial velocity, but the shells maintain the velocity very badly.

For light cruisers (150/152/155mm guns) it's the RU cruisers with the highest velocity shells.

For heavy cruisers (200/203mm guns) it's the KM (German) heavy cruisers but also the Zao (tier 10 IJN CA). Special mention for the Molotov's 180mm guns @ 920 m/s.

For battleships (283-460mm guns) it's the Izumo. No contest. Dunkerque is tied but has only 330mm shells so it's not as impressive.

Theoretically Akizuki with 1000 m/s

but practically I would say Moskva's 985 m/s shells, they are barely initially slower than Akizuki, but maintains almost the same velocity at even up to 20km, giving it a better time to target than even Yamato at the longest ranges.

Values are not available in the client, but basically it's about air drag, mass and initial velocity ( there are threads about this, one in particular where the penetration values for all gun's are calculated for various distances ).

Basically, USN BB shells for instance have low inertial velocity ( just as the 203mm cruisers ) because they use heavy AP shells, but these shells have a very acry flight path and they retain their speed really well due to their mass.

The shell flight path and penetration values are closely matching real life calculations.

How can i find impact velocity at range?

I don't think you can.

Unless someone has made calculations using the drag coefficients.

I know he has them, but he never made lists / diagrams for them. You need velocity/mass/angle/krupp if you want to calculate penetration at any distance.

Can you give single information right? It seams you can not.

Well somebody must go behind you and give right informations because it seams you don't know crap about game. Hindenburg has fastest shells. Really?

I also don't agree with his ideas about smoke, but he's being helpful and giving factual information so I don't see the need to ask for individual ships ( OP didn't ask for it either ).  That he says that hindenburg has faster shells than Moskva doesn't matter :Smile_trollface:

He gave WRONG INFORMATION here. Opened for slfastest shells. Only one ship has fastest on flight and impact. There are no multiple answers. Moskva has ast least 50 km faster shells than hindnburg.....he gave just wrong information.

I thought about it, but yeah you're probably right.

If not for my sake then at least for other forumites.

Everyone makes mistakes, there was no malintent, let's just move on.

Coming to think of it, I made an mistake as well since ->

Duca d'Aosta: Initial velocity: 1000m/s (AP, HE 950m/s) :fish_glass:

... that is on par with Akizuki ( and with heavier shells they don't bleed as much either I think don't own one so not 100% sure ).

Yeah let's move on.

Moskva 176 kg 985 ms one of flatest lines in game.

Duca 50 kg 1000 and 950 ms not so flat

Akizuki 13 kg 1000 ms

I'd say Moskva has the highest impact velocity at anything past 5km range?

Moskva all the way in any practical situation.

Also "funny thing" DM who has "heavy" shells have shell of 118 kg which is almost 50% lighter than Moskva.

BUT in my limit experience (have DM played moskva on ptr) I would say DM has better penetration on angles.

P.s. my bad. It is he shell. Ap is heavier. 152 kg. It explains penetration.....But it does not explain why moskva ap9 and he has same weight but DM ap is so much heavier.

Moskva has higher calliber, USN is the heaviest from the 'normal' 203mm.

Also, didn't USN still have better normalization than VMF ( and RN CL's have best together with Hood )?

The Zao 203mm shells are slightly heavier then the DM ones, but they don't have the USN auto-bounce angles so they lose out against angled armor.

But Zao AP has bad air drag right? I mean, the AP pen drops hard with range, has to be drag. Otherwise the shells would have better pen at range, and they don't afaik.
