Molotov sits too high in the water?

Despite having had the ship since it came out I haven't until now noticed how high in the water the Molotov sits. It is clearly showing the red of the hull which indicate an unloaded ship rather than one with a full combat load and this is exposing about 40% more citadel height than it would if the hull would be lowered to its deep load marker. Don't know if this is intentional for balance purposes or not but it does explain why the Molotov is so easily citadelled.

Picture of Molotov sitting high in the water.

She doesn't though.

First we have an actual combat picture.

Molotov1941-1942.jpg

Take specific note of the stern and that protector boom. The picture is too grainy and the shades are weak to use most else.

Compare to this, which is extremely similar to the view in the port.

What we can see is that the point of the transom stern pretty much just touches the water in both cases, and the booms are about even distance from the water. However, the booms are not the same, a simple triangle in the upper picture, while a more elaborate crossbar is on the lower. It should be noted that the upper picture does appear to be maybe 30cm deeper in the water, but the shock effect on the water and the grainy quality makes it hard to really determine the correct waterline for such a small difference. However, it is clear that any difference, is pretty limited.

In general the pictures of Molotov and her sisters shows a consistent red paint above the waterline, while still having the stern just touch the water (ingame this will lift out of the water at times due to the wave motion and the ship movement). Thus I don't see enough evidence that points to her sitting too high. Just that she sits high, and did so historically.

Because historically the Molotov rode higher in the water than the Kirov. I don't remember if it was due to the fact that it was 1/4 Chapayev (you can see the joint on the ingame model) or that it simply built less dense than it's predecessor.
