gazzbott2point0 Players 32 posts 3,699 battles Report post #1 Posted July 2, 2017 Since the Ranked Battles have begun iv noticed a sizable increase in abusive players all desperate to get their lucky stars. Most of the hate chatter iv noticed is usually from the players that have died 1st and who are suddenly experts at the game and for reasons unexplained cant be bothered to just exit and move to their next ship and try again. Personally i find it quite amusing, though i do wonder about the maturity of these players :/ Whilst i would say at least 90% of the player base are generally polite, or just don't use chat in general to any new players who read this i would say, take no notice of anyone who calls you NooB. idiot, bot etc, etc. And to any players who read this who do like to abuse their teammates because of their own inadequacies i would say.....well nothing....not worth my time :) Thoughts on a postcard please Happy Sailing
[HABIT] Tungstonid Beta Tester 1,568 posts Report post #2 Posted July 2, 2017 The more competitive a game/game mode and the higher the possible prices, the more toxic players will become. Usually it is a mixture of finding a scapegoat for one's own inability or failures and sub-par abilities of the team that leads to frustration and toxicity. gazzbott2point0 Players 32 posts 3,699 battles Report post #3 Posted July 2, 2017 i can understand frustration, i'm sure we've all had battles where we've looked like winning and suddenly the team collapses, but abusing the team is hardly nurturing a winning mentality in my humble opinion. I'm one of those people you refer to, and don't worry, I already have a chatban so r3tards can't be called r3tards no more for the time being and be nice and cosy in their safe zone, playing phor phun.
CaptainThunderWalker Players 357 posts 3,178 battles Report post #5 Posted July 2, 2017 Why are people so salty? Sure people are idiots, and usually I - if I die being aggressive - I say "Cap X" or something if necessary, but I never insult. Better give one last order as you hope your fellow teammates understand the point of Domination, and have a small chance to win, than to leave them to their own devices and lose for sure. And in other occassions the (cross)teamchat is hilarious. Yesterday evening there was some guy asking for a woman in the World of Warships crossteamchat. Needless to say, we led him along for a bit, before I mentioned my cat was female (it wasn't clear whether the person who asked was male or female at this point, and I needed to set bait for him). Then he responded he wanted a human female, and then we were like "you are at the wrong place" and started to suggest dating apps, and then I threw in Grindr as a suggestion for crumpets and giggles. It got worse when we went from apps to nationalities - someone mentioned Ukrainian girls are gorgeous but can't cook, and then that dude told us he just wanted... ehrm, intercourse, and couldn't care less about the cooking. Simultaneously I wrote "Chinese girls can cook. They are sweet too." I paused a few seconds, thought everything over for a bit, and then I said, "But in your case, I'd suggest a Bangkok ladyboy." [COOOP] Shirakami_Kon Players 2,624 posts 12,776 battles Report post #12 Posted July 2, 2017 You don't need ranked for that. Yesterday I had an Akatsuki in a random battle behind my Gneisenau insulting every single one in out team because we were all noobs that didn't cap. After 5 minutes of cries I just mentioned the irony of a DD complaining about anyone capping anything but I was just a noob that should go play doll and shut the f*** up. The guy was so behind all the team complaining he even scored last in our team.
Ferry_25 Players 4,392 posts 12,107 battles Report post #13 Posted July 2, 2017 Toxic ingame chat is part of the package. I usually don't mind that much: not getting impressed easily and when it's way out of like I just report misb in chat. In the heat of a match things can get a bit rough. Heck I'm guilty as charged for saying some things which will probably never be published in the top 10 beautiful written prose of love myself. Even lost some karma on doing that (and rightfully so I must add, retrospectively).
[IRQ] AnotherDuck [IRQ] Players 2,930 posts 7,510 battles Report post #14 Posted July 2, 2017 One thing I've learned is that if someone calls you a chaeter [sic], pat yourself on the back for a game done well. You had to have done something right. I do agree with WoWs being generally friendly for a PvP game. And in Ranked, I've had mostly people actually trying to help. 2 hours ago, SHDRKN4792 said: You don't need ranked for that. The only time I'm behind a Gneisenau when I'm in a DD is when she's planning to torp someone. That's generally what I do, but I'm not about to get in the way of that. Besides, I tend to keep more at a 7 km range, rather than the 6 km those German torps go.

That guy was on my team behind my Gneisenau ranting about no one capping because he wanted the cruisers and the BBs going in the caps without any spotting at all only the get focused from every direction without warning only to let him go behind us unspotted to get the cap himself risking 2/3s of the team. Strategy that we were so noob we couldn't understand the magnificence of the plan. I know it's not very polite from me to say that, but I've never seen a DD player that retarded. After failing in convincing us in following his masterplan he went all the way around the map I guess in hopes of flanking the Benson in the area which pushed him to the border of the map trying to not get spotted and sunk him there while trying to pass to the north middle of the map without even shooting back at the Benson once. I don't usually care about stats, like I'm anyone to tell anyone to "git gud" but this guy was so special that later that day since I still remember the nick he used I checked his stats to get an idea of what kind of player it was. Which I surprisingly couldn't do, but well, whatever.

Oh, I've seen that. Quite recently. Was playing in Bismarck with my usual strategy (quite similar to a certain Mr. Jenkins), and there was a Mahan following me the entire way from the western spawn on Haven to the D cap in the southeast, where I finally sank (we won, though, as I left a few wrecks in my path). Im a pretty likeable guy and im also competitive. I play this game to win and earn ranks, credits and XP. And i dont think i need to bother explaining the typical WoW player to you? Their is so many players, even at T8-10 that doesn't seem to understand simple game mechanics. And when you play ranked, its only 7 players on each team and those i talk about that can hide behind the numbers in random is much more visible in ranked. And since many of these do stuff that no one can explain and make you loose hard earned stars and go back on the ranked ladder, then the salt comes out. I have been one of those loosing my crap in chat many times, nothing im proud of but there it is. I know many disagree with me on this but i think a lot of the rage/salt in chat comes from the lack of actual communication in the game. I know a lot of players would abuse this but if the entire team could communicate in a kind of TS/skype environment where you could make up plays and tactics, it would be something different entirely. Because i think a lot of the salt comes from players dont understanding what the others do and why.

There are many people who dont understand what you are typing because they dont know English. Dont say that in a bad manner, they just dont know English. But the worse are the people that THINK they know English, and they understand something completely different from what you are saying.

Ranked is just Randoms 7 vs 7 with additional prizes... Sure it is mostly just venting. And in general it doesn't go that far, except with idiot carriers who have a way bigger part than 1/7. Is it going to have effect? Probably not, but here's hoping that maybe one out of a hundred feels ashamed and goes somewhere else than ranked to practice his first manual planes/drive his 41%/21k dmg ryujo. And ranked may be mini-randoms, but by lack of better, and also in WG's own wording it is the closest thing to a competition they have. I have this naive idea that when one is participating in a pseudo tournament, one should at least try to win, and not play for the bloody lolz... And I would appreciate WG making clear that that would be more something for randoms, and making clear that something like practicing carriers is more something for PvE. When people do that s*it, yeah, it pisses me off - and I don't know why I would not be pissed. WG is also are to blame for making too many low ranks unremovable imho, which is the major reason for this nonsense.
