Is it worth coming back

Hello all

I have been giving this game something of a break for the last few months, after DD's (especially IJN ones) were nerfed to the point of being unusable, and the constant and consistent whining of the BB "skilled players" caused every other class of ship to be nerfed, whilst BB's themselves where buffed, until things reached the point whereby a BB could pretty much out perform every other class.

I myself am (or was) a IJN DD specialist, although I also ran Cruisers as well.

 

Simply, have things changed? Is it worth me reinstalling and getting back into the game now, or is the game still a brainless BBaby meta? Are torpedo's (particularly IJN ones) actually useful again, or should I just leave things be for now and keep a weather eye on future updates?

Now Island are OP + needs nerfing/BB arcs are bad because you cant counter-battery mortars like Omaha/Clevleand/Atlanta cowering behind island.

Also a BB only living 5+ minutes when under constant barrage of 4 cruiser is completely unfair.

Go figure.

More Radar BBs on the way (even if not, the test alone shows which way WG is ticking)! (Premium) BB (which we know by now is WGs way of testing things for further ships) with defensive fire pushing close range AA to insane values every cruiser could only dream of!

Only you could decide that, but if I had to act as a trustee of sorts, I d recommend you to stay away and spray the word around so WG feels the sting on the diminished influx of new players.

Yugumo got Shima's 12km torps -> good. 

Not seen any game with more then 5 BB's lately -> good

Never had a game with less then 5 BB's ever -> bad

They gave USN CV's AP bombs, that should worry some BBabies I hope.. -> good

 

So things changed.... if it made any noticable impact in your enjoyment, only you can judge that. I haven't been playing much lately but the last few games were ok-ish enough to not uninstall the game.

I came back too and it's still the same, slightly worse I would say. Can't bare to play Random battles anymore with the DD that are afk most of the time at the start/hole game or just rush in and die (could be because of all the nerfs to DD though). Then the BB that sail around the map edges being useful as a spare tyre with a hole in it and hiding behind islands.

 

The new operations are fun but once you have all the stars there isn't much incentive to keep playing it. It's great not to have to care for win rate which makes everyone mellow. No abuse, no slagging peeps off because they are bad because if they are you are not losing anything by it (IE: win rate) just the first time rewards but once you have them, no worries.

 

BB are still the meta. Can't beat them - join them. Been playing BB just to show the BB cowards that getting in close can win you games.

 

Barely playing this game myself, could play it now but I just have no will to do it. Last few random battles I tried were dire - lost all interest. Decide yourself though, only way.

It's still pretty fun. All classes are viable. IJN dds may be slightly worse off. If you have something better to do than to play a naval multiplayer game, do it. It's just entertainment in the end.

IMO the heavy BB spam is fading indeed. And also ( I know: I claimed it before) I feel like the horrible steamroll games are getting less frequent. That was my main issue lately: boring short matches in either you lose half your team before the fifth minute or vv. Also I've noticed the role of DD's is shifting more to scouting rather than only torpspamming. Lots of players have discovered the wasd hack regarding that. Torpedo's are more becoming an area denial or forcing broadsides tool. Lots of cruiser whining though. Guess they must learn the dark secret magic of wasd as well. When using that getting oneshot isn't that common.

All in all I'd say: give it a try OP. Your call of course.

Since you've mentioned IJN DDs. I personally sucked with them while they were the most OP line in this game (except maybe CVs), they got nerfed yes, but recently there were a few buffs (faster turret rotation, better torps on Yugumo, torps are a bit stealthier as well), and all I can say is that I've really enjoyed the Kagero grind and I'm enjoying the Yugumo grind, as for the Shima, I keep hearing mixed things about the ship so I guess I will have to judge it myself

i mostly play cruisers but i start to like the full-stealth DD gameplay. i am only telling you this because if you want to come back and occasionally play battleships, but mostly other ships, then you could come, you would help to solve the BB-overpopulation and you would have a lot of targets. if you want to casually sail a BB then you most probably wont enjoy many battles.

It's the same game except for new PvE content. So, I guess, not worth coming back.

2 either go yolo or camp at max guns range

3) enjoy the game like 70% of players

 

optionally play pve - I kinda find them interesting and fun especially if you have few friends to division

The game is a brainless meta regardless of class, and since the stealthfire nerf DDs and CAs play like BBs - which means they play like pu$$ies.

 

The two highlighted lines made me laugh.

The IJn DDs are fine, and if you were a "specialist" you'd know that.

Sad to see this negativity. I have played since oct 2015 and you have more maps, ship trees than ever. Sure some changes have been bad , but overall I think the game has improved.

I think it is easier to like the game if you do not just have a few favourites and hence look more to the big picture. That a thread like this drawn people who likes to trash rather than the opposite is for me sad. Now when the RN BBs finally at the horizon and some other lines my own pleasure is larger than ever.

Well I really enjoy it - I don't play battleships often as they are slow and I get bored - the Hood is at least quite quick but the size of an island! I play RN cruisers and IJN destroyers and have huge fun in both. Had not looked at my statistics recently but did yesterday and been serving up a 60%+ win rate for the last couple of months and although I regard myself as distinctly average, with a pretty average damage rate, I have a good positive Karma score of over 100 and seem to get very little salt and usually have friendly chat with both friends and enemies. I always play solo as wouldn't want to let down a division but try to play as a team player and get plenty of help from team mates.

So i would say "YES - Go for it!"

I think it's not as important to judge where the game is now as it is to judge where the game is heading.

 

Doesn't matter if it's good or bad now. Is it improving ? Because coming back just to leave again one month later is pretty useless.

 

In my opinion, regardless if the game is good or not, it's not heading the right way at all. The rare times when WG tries to do good things for players, they do it the wrong way. Rest of the time they're more focused on things that are not necessarly beneficial for the gameplay and the playerbase.
 

So I'd say it's useless to come back, because if you left before you'll probably leave again eventually. The same happened to me.

You have a game that offers you 4 types of ship with 8 (?) nations ands yet you decide to play one type?

Are you not shooting yourself in the foot before getting onto the front line?

There is so much variety to experience to it is a traversty to complain, especially if you are F2P.

Personal choice. Only my nation's ships interest me. Same with WoT and WT. i enjoy playing Brits. Others feel differently, fsir play to them
