Titan_net Players 120 posts Report post #1 Posted June 4, 2017 Rumor sais next ranked season will be Tier VI. So I spent the last days looking through the forums for a good idea what ship to focus on. The general consesus was "take a ship you like". That means I am screwed because I didn't keep a single Tier VI ship and dislike all of them. So I rebought a few ships and here are my thoughts, feel free to comment: Destroyers Farragut: Suborbital guns, short range torpedos, (no great captain) Gaede: I remember hating this.. the guns are just schei**e and it turns like a bb Cruisers Nürnberg: Urgh, the guns fall apart at long ranges, the ship falls apart at short ranges Budyonny: I liked the ship while grinding, but now it feels boring. With fire flags it may be playable. Graf Spee: sleep 20s, roll dice, sleep 20s Molotov: May as well throw dice instead of playing. Aoba: Might as well take Molotov Cleveland: I don't play US.. so no idea BBs Not a big bb player.. so no ideas here. Still don't like any Tier VI ship. What next? One of the japanese dds? I remember sleeping a lot while grinding through hatsuharu, never played the other one at T6. Gnevny? Also never played it.

Leander might be a solid option too. Edited June 4, 2017 by loppantorkel
[UTW] ShinGetsu Weekend Tester, In AlfaTesters 8,985 posts 7,359 battles Report post #4 Posted June 4, 2017 Budyonny with IFHE, Cleveland with IFHE, and don't underestimate how punishing Aoba can be thanks to 203mm AP with fast reload in tier 6. Molotov is too fragile imo, though the guns are insane at her tier. Same for Nürnberg. As for the DDs... well, Shinonome is the safest bet IMO. Very decent guns, and 3x3 torpedoes with one minute reload.
[-5D-] HotshotJimmy [-5D-] Players 498 posts 5,250 battles Report post #5 Posted June 4, 2017 Leander all the way or the Warspite. I prefer cruisers so it'll be the Leander + 19pt captain
[SCRUB] Aotearas Players 8,460 posts 13,076 battles Report post #6 Posted June 4, 2017 (edited) For DDs, the Farragut and Gaede are solid picks. The former is the best brawler, but the Gaede with the 150mms can pack a nasty punch to use as an ambusher, also it has the benefit of being natively able to stealthtorp. And then there's the premium Anshan which is essentially just an uptiered Gremy. For CAs/CLs I think the choices are mostly between Clevelandn Budyonny and the premium Molotov. Leander might work, but that can be a bit iffy as her AP dpm isn't nearly as good as the Fiji at tier VII so I'd have to see how she stacks up in a 7vs7 environment. For BBs, Fusou and New Mexico (premium Arizona) offer the heaviest broadside, but Bayern and the premiums Warspite and Mutsu can overmatch other BBs at the expense of broadside weight. CVs is Ryuujou, hands-down. AS Ryuujou is more versatile than AS Independence as it retains some striking power whilst having good fighter cover and balanced Ryuujou simply outdamages a balanced Independence (and strike Independence will get shut down by any halfway competent Ryuujou CV who knows how to use fighters). Balanced Independence is still nasty, but assuming equal player skill, my bet is on the Ryuujou. I', not that good in CVs though, so take what I said with a pinch of salt. Adrian1914 Beta Tester 300 posts 5,993 battles Report post #7 Posted June 4, 2017 A Leander camping in smoke along with a Cleveland, or a Faragut smoking a Cleveland imo has a pretty insane burst damage potential, if ships can be spotted for lon enough. If the season is trully t6 only, then my picks would probably be Cleveland, Fuso, Budyonny and Rujo. - Shinonome might be good with it's nine decent torps, and u can put a 19point captain in it without having a dedicated Fubuki one. Also it has an extra turret so it might help in taking cheeky popshots at spotted targets. - Anshan also seems a good pick, considering it has okay consealment, usable torps and very good guns and speed. Gona wait for a second opinion about it cause I haven't really played it that much. - Molotov I've seen videos of it that it has pretty punchy guns and can ouput a lot of damage, but I haven't played it might pick it up in the future so I'd also like to hear from a player that has used it. EsaTuunanen Beta Tester 3,552 posts 8,863 battles Report post #8 Posted June 4, 2017 Gnevny? Also never played it. That's pure gunboat. Soviet 130mm guns with AP good for plinking side showing Arizona/New Mexico up to AFT ranges. But someone forgot to install motors to turrets and without giving steroids to gulag slaves hand cranking them Scharnhorst has faster turning guns. And suicide range torps makes Farragut look like torpedo boat. Anshan would be version with access to less suicidal 8km 60 knot torps. As Pan-Asian ship just needs own skipper. [NWP] tank276 [NWP] Players 891 posts 9,271 battles Report post #11 Posted June 4, 2017 From the ships you mentioned Budyony seems like the most solid choice, together with Farragut. But there are other ships apart from premiums that you dont mention which I consider also good i.e. Bayern.

For cruisers you forgot the Leander, 8.6km detection range and with that ship you almost don't need destroyers for objectives.

But it is fun that they are many bids and many solid ships, Warspite? Hmm Might be an interesting season, I like the bid Anshan , sadly I am pretty mediocre in it. I might try several ones, but I am only playing for a few rewards. When the progress stops I end my play.
[2DQT] RUSSIANBlAS Players 8,241 posts Report post #17 Posted June 4, 2017 The upcoming RN Gallant looks like a possible Ranked Choice. Balance of guns and 8km torps... Wallet Warriors Unite! I want to win Ranked in a BB but not sure what to take at T6 since they're all so evenly balanced. Maybe Dunkerque for it's speed, rate of fire and turret placement. It also has sonar to flush enemy DDs out of caps.
CleverViking Players 503 posts 1,982 battles Report post #19 Posted June 5, 2017 Personally going to play mainly DDs in ranked (like last season) and since I've sold my freedom boat I'll be sailing around in my Anshan and maybe some Gaede (also possibly a bit Fubuki, just for giggles). Might try my hand at Cleve as well, we'll see. Only have 10pts on it but it's pretty darn powerful even without IFHE

Its the opposite for me. You forgot that there will (probably) be CVs in the game, so Cleveland will play a vital role. Will play Cleveland, use the terrain to support DDs and blast planes out of the sky. With IFHE and DE it should be one of the strongest picks. For a DD there is no better pick then Farragut. Sure the torps are not great, but the guns and USN smoke compensates for it. Hydro ships will also be playing big role (since there will be no radar). So the best ship for t6 ranked will be HMS Gallant (if released and If it will have hydro as rumored).
