Favuz Players 359 posts 6,636 battles Report post #1 Posted June 1, 2017 Personally, i like to check my stats (use eu.warships and wows-numbers) after every session i play. I log out and check how i did, even if i easily recognize when i've played like a moron or not without checking. I was wondering if you guys do like me or not. I am a merely average (or below average) player, but seeing that i'm slowly and constantly get better is satisfying. I think it's a way of improving my game. For example, i have noticed a bad habit of dying too often when i'm playing BB How about you?

[TEA] Robber_Baron Players 1,322 posts 7,981 battles Report post #5 Posted June 1, 2017 Slowly getting better is satisfying indeed. I think I had a WR of 47% the first time I checked, I'm now at 57%. It can be frustrating if it drops a bit after a bad session, but seeing it rise on the long term keeps me playing in those moments. Stat checking also shows that I can play some ships quite well, while I should stay away from others. (at least for Ranked that is. I'm doing bad in Scharnhorst so far, but keep on hoping I learn how to use her.)
The_Tyke Players 456 posts 10,463 battles Report post #6 Posted June 1, 2017 I put never, but that is not entirely true. I do check them, rarely. Last time I looked someone had started a thread about the amount of detonations that were occurring after a patch in the game. I think that was about December time; so that was the last time I looked. But only at that one figure. Prior to that, . . . . I really couldn't say. The only stat I am interested in is the 'am I having fun' stat.
[BRITS] fallenkezef [BRITS] Players 1,788 posts 1,955 battles Report post #7 Posted June 1, 2017 One of the things that annoy me about stats are the idiots who then use them in the forums when they don't like what you say. It's like "I can't argue your point but my stats are better so my opinion means more than yours." That being said, I did check my stats today and I'm quite happy with my improvement from when I came back to the game two months ago.

Only in the short run. In the long run, WR depends entirely upon you. So win rate over a prolonged period of time will tell you something about how you play, over a session it is mostly meaningless. Could indeed be possible. Since I've played very little for the last six months, it's no surprise that mine went down.

If somebody starts a whine thread and complains about everything he faces ingame being OP, but it turns out he's just bad and not willing to learn, I think he has every right to be faced with his stats.
Favuz Players 359 posts 6,636 battles Report post #16 Posted June 1, 2017 I think that, in general, when someone brag about a ship or nerf/buff, i'ts normal to check his stats, maybe he's bad in general and doesn't know how to play this game, so it would be better that he learn to play properly before requesting changes to ships. Another thing is checking a player stats and judging his opinions only from them. If he's a potato, everything he says is [edited], if he's a unicum, everything he says is right. That's not good, someone can be bad and having a legit opinion (understandable and even embraceable).

To be honest those posts fail on their own lack of merit without needing stats. But i take your point CV OP, DD OP, CA OP, CL OP, BB OP. According to the forums everything in this game, with the possible exception of poor Emerald, is OP.

The only stat I am interested in is the 'am I having fun' stat. This! While I do see how it could be interesting to keep track of one's stats, as a mark of personal progress, I, for my part, don't feel that way way at all. I don't compete either against myself or against other players; I simply want to have fun. I have read some posts where people have expressed feelings of constant worry, with bad games ruining their stats, and so on. To me, that sounds utterly bewildering, since it would seem to suggest that simply having stats, and caring about them, entails losing a lot of the "having fun" part of the game. But to each his own. This is not to say that I don't care about winning - I always play the game to the best of my ability. But I don't really care about whether I win or lose a certain battle, as long as it is a good game and I can have fun in the company of fellow gamers! Ferry_25 Players 4,392 posts 12,107 battles Report post #22 Posted June 1, 2017 (edited) Not that often. I still think stats are telling part of the story. However when looking at mine, they pretty much reflect the feeling I have about my performance: mediocre. Nothing too bad or too epic. Looked at them just now... My sudden plunge can be explained by 2 horrific sessions I had this week. You know, the losing streaks in which suddenly nothing seems to work anymore happens. And I know: we all go through them. Used the Alt-F4 hack to keep my sanity (more or less) intact. Edit: just found this site. For me it's new. I like the clear per ship performance. Actually surprised I didn't do as bad as I thought I was in Losemore.... http://www.wowstats.org Edited June 1, 2017 by Ferry_25
[BBMMX] 1000guns Beta Tester 166 posts Report post #23 Posted June 1, 2017 I like stats, I like numbers, so I check them often. I like to see if I had a good session and/or when I had a bad one, reflect on the mistakes I made so I can become a better player. The same saying that goes in my business life "numbers don't lie" goes here in WoWs as well. Yes, the fun factor is a very important one but one can only get better by striving to improve his/her own numbers sometimes

Agreed, The last few games I have played in a division we lost all 3. However, all three were higher than average Damage and XP with all stats bar win rate showing improvement. More importantly they were great fun enjoyed with friends; games like these make some stats look good but others bad. I suppose it depends on the value you attach to them in the long term. I would rather be consistent on damage, exp and playing for the team over pure K/D and WR. I'm no where near good enough to carry but i like to think i do my best to help where i can.
