The report system is just absurd

Am I the only one who thinks that the whole report/karma system is just overly subjective? First of all I don't see the point in having enemy team able to report me, I got reported so many times after I citadeled a broadside cruiser with my Yamato or when I decimated the enemy team with my CV just because they got butthurt. The mechanic is just stupid and good thing it doesn't give any benefit so far. My karma is only 37 while I have clan mates who don't play CV's and get several hundreds of karma. When you play a CV you either get reported for not covering an idiot teammate who went on his own on the other side of the map or by enemy DD and BB captains that get angry when you torpedo them. You just can't win

 

Here take a look at this match and tell me what did I do to deserve 3 reports not just one in this match (I can send you a replay if you want to see the whole match).

Yup, certainly broken. Usually it takes me only two or three, at weekends often only a single match, to run out of reports.

Here's the problems I have with the report system:

 

- ''Poor Play?'' What is that supposed to mean and why is there an option to report it? What are WG supposed to do about broadsiding, spotter-using Emeralds?

 

- ''Bot'' - It would be helpful to know what a bot is and what WG's approach to afking is. Because that's what I use this option for, though I don't know if it's even punishable, or if ''botting'' means something else. is it something players can even recognize ingame without software and technical knowledge?

 

As for karma, I don't care and I don't pay attention it. Most players don't even know it exists.

First a disclaimer: Yes, I know karma doesn't matter, it should be ignored etc.

 

I have noticed a curious pattern about getting reported. Most of the time it doesn't matter whether I play piss poorly or like a god - I receive no reports or compliments. This is to be expected and nothing unusual.

 

However, I may play a perfectly average game, not good or bad, yet when I check karma afterwards I notice that, say, three people decided to report me for some inexplicable reason. This puzzles me. Why? I would understand if it was one of those games where I suck big time, but normally it isn't. Maybe it just random dickery?

 

Anyone else have similar experiences?

one russian youtuber explained how reporting works in ru server:

plays poorly is just so you can vent yourself, nothing follows

bot - if enough reports for certain player is received then they will check, and if suspicious then warning and if it continuous then ban for some time etc.

poor language - if enough reports then chat logs are checked and relevant action is taken, warning, temp ban etc.

in ru server good karma means smthg though, here it is nothing ... i suppose they are afraid to spoil us once again ...

It is there for you to feel better. Not for any other reason.

 

Overhaul of reporting system had been discussed in the past countless of times. Is there really need for another thread OP? Better to keep all in one thread than dilute it.

Same with the 'weekend warriors' thing. Actually I think that one should be pinned.

Pretty sure "plays poorly" subtracts from Karma. That may do nothing on the EU server but afaik on the RU server there are rewards for having high Karma.

- Player who does not support a push or somehting similar and/or use the map for sightseeing

- Those player who does not move or where the map does not load (happened to me too sometimes) but they dont even try to get back. I report those only after(!) the match, when they did not show up or like 5 minutes after start, regardless if we win or lose.

- well, i think this is self-explaining: Those who rant, who flame and all those "nice" people we know from Wot

Nope. I'm pretty sure "misbehavior in chat" is also a dumb automate. I've been 24-hr banned at least 2 times after doing absolutely nothing except urging some hopeless potatos in quite kind language like "go cap ffs, we are losing the game". You just get your conviction after enough reports, and it seems that the threshold is lowered when your previous ban was less than 1-2 weeks earlier...

I'm not very patient with "casuals", afkers or plain potatos, so I started to gather some statistics...

Plays poorly = potatoing. In all kinds of meaning of this word.

Bot = either obvious bot (sailing in hopelessly obvious manner + engaging only in obvious occasions), or some total potato which behaves like a bot. Also if some retard really angered me he gets both reports. Plus all kinds of idlers get that: total AFK, late loaders (>2 minutes, in DD or CV especially). I would really prefer Bot_6 in my team than a guy which doesn't load or play at all.

Chat = this includes not only bad language, spam, moron remarks, but also "shut up, you are dead", "stfu you pinky sh*t" or "stfu, I don't care" when politely asked to follow the team strategy, after he had (and missed) the chance to express his opinion earlier.

 

Generally - useless piece of code, which causes as many frustration as it vents

Yea tell me about it... Just now I had a round where DD in my team was bot. He was doing nothing exept keep distance from enemys as much as he could, and ended with only 100 exp at the end of round.

I told to team to report him as he is bot, and I end up reported multiple times -.-

I mean; laying in the back, no risk (hardly) and ruining a very nice battle over and over again with you pussy planes? I will never report a DD player who's outwitting me or makes a excellent ambush against me. Or a BB who's one shooting me in my cruiser.  On the contrary: I'll compliment him/ her for that. But when I manage to outwit a dd in my ship, dodge his spread only to be taken out by the plane pussy with 75 torp squads who's boat is 12 light years away from the action? or the "friendly" C*nt Vessel" who kills stealing my target which I played to outwit? I'll throw every report I have at him. Agreeing more than ever to Babykim I only have 7 reports to give every day. My advice to CV players? Turn of your computer and go out in RL: that's a way more easier way to ruin someone's moment than in this game. I truly hope this class will disappear 1 day from wows.

Oh Ferry, but the "covering I'm giving?" Well IF you're awake and that's a big "if" with CV's. Somehow in the vast majority of the game I play my "friendly" CV's wake up in the 5th minute (at best). Sending heir strike airpestilence over the map borders, doing a senseless drop and returning their planes straight back, right over the DD's heads, revealing them to the chasing fighters to be wrecked in seconds.

So as long as your playing world of warplanes light: just keep sucking on those reports OP. No sympathy from me there.

I'm having problems with the Karma system as I normaly don't notice when I get them. So I don't know the reason for when people compliment or complains about me.

 

But I have never been chat-banned or things like that, so I believe you never are innocent if you get banned. And I like to report players that can't talk to each other in chat in a civilized manner. Usually just by behaving people will respond reasonably.

 

But maybe MM could put most of the people who gets plays poorly in the same battles, so maybe all the sniping BBs and all the I want to go around the map along the border cruisers in the same battle. That would make me very happy Or maybe they just could give better rewards for BB tanking and CV spotting

Just remove it, since:

- Reporting for "Poor Play" and for "bot" do nothing

- "Misbehaviour in chat" make no sense since you can even abuse report for fun. Plus we already have a "disable text" option that is more than enough. (Actually we need a way to mute ping spammers on mini map and for voice chat (f3, f4, f5 etc...))

Only because someone is not able to use his brain and use that option this does not mean we have to do random bans.

- Chat bans are game breaking/fun breaking (generally, in every video game)

 

Put instead a real report system with real and sensed reasons, where reports will be sent to real person (from WG staff) that can inspect them to see if them was right or not. If WG staff doesn't care about this because of lazyness or anything else, put something that can be public visible so everyone can judge and then take the right measure. Obviously this will cover not only chat, but who break the game play, peoples that are afk for half/whole match, peoples that play really poorly etc...

Well if you take your own advice and turn off your computer and go out in RL you will not feel that your moment is ever ruined. See easy

The only way to fix this abuse is to remove it all together. The fact of the matter a few division can troll a player by chat-banning him for 24 hour takes communication out of the game. These reports should be handled by a real person and wrongfully reporting someone should get you in trouble.

There should be at least a wordfilter applied. Things like "please dont go that way, you have no support", shouldnt be answered by "stfu noob" and 7 reports that get you chatbanned ... If you use certian words and you get reported, sure, get banned, but like this every idiot who spams reports at you can get you banned in notime.

You dont get a message for being reported for chat misbehavior. The message only pops up when you get reported for poor play. If you want a lot of reports you dont have to say anythign basically. Playing Saipan nets you reports pretty much every game you play, same goes for most other CV's. Playing Minotaur gets you reported constantly because "hurr durr noob smoke kemp" or "Minotaur why dont you go rush and spot", playing HE spamming cruisers get you reported all day long when you burn down BB's at max range without them being able to hit you, and so on .. I got hundreds of screenshots where i get reported after good games i had ..

Chat reports are not registered if you haven't said a single word in chat.
