glad to see good players helping the rest of the community, the CV player base needs a serious boost in the game to counter the likes of camping in higher tier.

When it comes to rebinding keys etc and if you have the interest and the money to invest you can always buy one of these.

You can save multiple setup which you switch in between as I do when playing regular ships or CV´s. Also do a color scheme that fits you which can be different for the different setups. For example I have red for the arrow keys for CV and same for WASD when not playing CV.

With this you don´t have the need to rebind the key´s ingame as well.:child:

I see carrier guide I like.

I see first such in depth guide in a while for carrier's I like.

Unfortunately carriers will change this year and no one know how drastically it will change so it will have to be updated but I have no doubt fara will be able to update this awesome guide.
Keep up the great work :D

Thank you Fara for supporting the CV community and we need more trained and skilled players on the circuit for better matches.

This is more of an irrelevant question, but what would you suggest on how to gain the experience needed to do decently? Co-op, training room, just randims? I really want to learn carriers, but I don't want to be a burden on my teams. I'm watching your excellent videos and i thunk i learned a thing or two but my APM is crazy low at the moment and i just plain don't have the experience.

Once you hit T6, I'd probably play some Co-op games to practise your alt attack bombing skills and alt fighter strafes. Eventually you will have to take the plunge and play in randoms. It's the best way to learn by baptism of fire.

You could play in a division or when the game starts let your team know via communication you are new and will try your best but to endure while you learn.

I kinda already have a Hiryu...I did enjoy Ryujo before the CV changes. But yes, co-op first makes sense. I hear the CV bots aren't that bad.

*update* First draft of the guide with videos is complete. It's my intention as I get more clips to add them in, but for all intensive purposes the guide is finished. As and when CV changes occur I will probably come back and revise as required.

I have a question. I haven't yet checked your vids. But it is more personal than game mechanics related.

Why would I play carriers past tier 4? On tier 4 I am quite good, play more aggressive than most battleships and regularly deplane the enemy.

I tried tier 5 but going up against tier 6 and 7 cruisers and battleships is just painful. Especially without manual drop.

Hey Fara,

i loved your games vs pape in ranked last season on his youtube chan/ twitch. Even if you ended them quite quickly for him. Could you upload some of your replays of last season? Would really enjoy to watch them as i still struggled at rank 5-1.

Best regards Nicolas

Thank you for the time and effort which went into making this. :medal:

Even if you don't play CV's it's worth watching at least the targeting/bombing sections from 5.4 through to 6.2.2 from a 'know your enemy' point of view.

Thank you very much for creating these tutorial for CVs. I recently started with IJN CV line and your videos are really helpful for better understanding of mechanics, captain skills and tactics. Cheers

Expect an update to this guide with parts I missed. Also will cover Carriers and Competitive gameplay at Tier 8 and 10. What happens when you remove them /facepalm.

Hi Fara, gonna bother you for a sec. I happened to explain a few of my tips to someone else in another thread, thought I might show them to you too, the authority of CVs as I know it, and see if firstly, they are justifiable, and theoretically sound, and if so, if they can provide some meaningful addition to this guide. There is no point to make my own guide anyways as my points are few and hypothetical, and besides your guide is already great enough. Should really be more visible. It might even have helped the OP of the thread in question (if he'd have read your guide, and tried to learn from it).

Oh btw:

Keep up the great work :D

I've no doubt in Fara, but there was no "major carrier rework" whatsoever in 2017. XD.

So I'll calmly post my very-outdated CV insights anyways.

Here goes.

The main argument in these last 3 replies relates to a concept of "diminishing returns" and how it can be leveraged against the opponent by an AS Haku. There are some possible tactics and concepts mixed in between, with an interesting concept in the final post about "crippling, but not destroying" your opponent's planes for maximum efficiency. See if it's worthy of a fun little adition to your guide.

If I myself were making a guide, I'd also stress the importance of being "strategically aware" of the power-play dynamics when playing CV. Basically, it's the only class which is in a "mirrored MM duel" and where any play also has underlying significance to the shifting power and control of the overall match. In other words, simply teaching players the concepts of "how far a plane can be stealthed or out of AA range" is technically useful, but mundane. Teaching players how to handle this "duel", and not just the basics of perfect strikes as if they were facing a Pve scenario, is just as important. And normal concepts such as "how to strafe tactically, or to only graze enemy fighters to save your own locked squad" can be more meaningful if explained in relevance to this "duel", or as overall match management. For one it may teach players to think for themselves and recognize situations as situational, and for another it will save their hinds when faced with a CV who understands those concepts. Concepts of "efficiency, diminishing returns, hindering vs. destroying vs. baiting," etc. Priming players on concepts such as these will help to prevent them from being panicked when faced with high-pressure and complexity of managing high-tier CV assets, so they can still focus on important goals even if individual actions go wrong. A guide in tone of a more "humanistic, personal way" may also be less boring and better received, though that's going a bit far.

Cheers.

(Also, can't resist, ahem, SUMMOOOON FAAA-RAAA, Muuuuahahaha)
