It's weaker than Bismarck against planes, that are rarely ingame. It's weaker than Bismarck in a specific situation where you can get within 4 kms of a smoked up DD/British cruiser.

But against BBs and cruisers (BBs currently matter most, as there's so many of them every battle), Tirpitz is now better than Bismarck.

 

If you're trying to say that Hydro can help you against torps, then we're playing absolutely differently. Either you know you're gonna get torped even before you see torps (in which case you'll change course/speed and dodge them), or you don't (in which case not even a Tier 10 german hydro can help).

I tried this out (never played Bismarck) and felt so dirty... I was playing pretty badly but still managed 100k damage of which 25k was secondaries (12k direct 13k fires). So stupid...

I'm playing from the beta , never complained for nothing ; yesterday in my Fiji i went against a division of 3 tirpitz .

After 10 mins we were deleted , nothing can go near a tirpiz now.

Hydro > torps ? As a Bismark player i'd say no for the type of play that you have with the 2 bbs , hoping the reach short range torps are better for me.

Can someone explain how an Amagi or a Carolina can counter a tirpiz now? Running until the end of the map , then?

No i really think that the tirpiz now, in the the hand of a good player is unbalanced.

My opinion ofc.

lol m8 I was I mean I'm serious! Had a game with 3 enemy Tirpitz in a division obliterating everything on the other side of the map and then finished the rest of us who were mostly at low HP. No sarcasm involved. 

 

Sorry if I made you to think that I'm making fun of you :(

Tirpitz now has torps and powerful secondaries. But everyone knew about the torps already, and they are a powerful tool for intimidation. Just the fact of having torps mounted on a ship can keep enemies away, which is why people are so scared of tiny triangles on the minimap (DDs). But people know this, and by now people also know how good or bad German secondaries can be in certain situations. Yes, getting hit by dense secondary volleys every 3 seconds creates a very annoying sound but in the end the damage is nothing special at all.

I played a game with T9 Freddy yesterday, full secondary build captain. Despite quite aggressive pushing from our team no enemy ship ever got closer than 12 km, not even the enemy Tirpitzes. My secondary gunners just enjoyed the scenery and watched the main batteries hammering red ships.

 

Tirpitz has always been a ship you didn't want to get too close to simply due to the immediate torpedo threat. Now you have all the more reason to stay clear and keep 11km or more distance to her. At that range even her main battery dispersion can drive the Tirpitz player nuts.

So yeah, the range was a welcome addition, it gives Tirpitz back her taste of being Bismarcks sister or late war successor, and it makes her a good captain trainer for my German BB captains with secondaries and AA builds alike. But it is also very easy to play around this trait.

I second your point about the damage ( Vs a DD btw ,with pointed target , i assure you that you WILL do pain ) and that's why my bismark , specced for secondaries ,have the demolition talent. And it works very well. We all love fireworks.  Tirpiz can do the same now with the right talents + torps to end the work.

 

Either way what i wanted to say in my post before was more regarding the t8 bb balance . In a Bismark you can manage a Tirpiz but in an Amagi or a NC i have no idea how to counter a Tirpiz. Not asking for nerf , just thinking about balance.

I cant say about NC, but a amagi can pummel a tripitz before the tirp can get into sec. range, amagi has a big alpha strike with its 10rifles, and the tirpitz's armor is not good against long range fire, so id say keep the tirp at 15-18km range and give it the 10 gun salute and the tirp is in big trouble. (as always feel free to correct me if i missed something).

Just had a couple of goes in it - ridiculously OP. The secondaries melt anything within 10 km. Amusing to play - took out a Bismark who cannot have had the secondary build - and finished him with torps. Felt dirty afterwards! Practiced in PvE first and got 132k credits!!!
