Im using very small computer called: Zotac Zbox EN760

It has I5-4200U, GTX860m(2gb), 16GB So Dimm DDR3 with SSD

Been using it to play warships from the start and works very well with high med settings around 60-100fps

Your computer will run Warships well so you dont need anything new components to play it.

Just make sure you have latest drivers installed.

WoWs runs on anything. I'm playing it on an i5-3x laptop with integrated graphics, and it goes at 40fps and is perfectly stable. Who plays this game for the scenery? Ships, guns, things going "boom", what else do you need to see?

Mobile I7's are worse than desk top I5's

Hell some are only duel core, and only called I7 to make people think they are buying a really good lap top,

its all about the marketing, not the performance

I've got some Clevo power laptop with an i7 cpu it out punches my desktop i5 on benchmarks. However desktop i5 performs better in games.

Whether that's because I've got a 1070 in my Desktop vs a Xfire 7950 setup or the CPUs I'm none too sure...

From my experience, dont expect this game run any better on a new system :(

My old fart of an computer rocking an Intel core 2 duo E6850 @ 3 Ghz, 8Gb of DDR2 ram, Nvidia 295 GTX, and some old slow HDD`s in fact runs this game faster and smoother than my new current setup!

New setup is: I7 7700k @ 5,4Ghz, 64GB 3200mhz ram, 2 x 1080Ti, ASUS ROG Maximus IX Extreme. Disk`s are:

Samsung 960 Pro 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD as an OS drive

Samsung 960 Pro 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD as a game drive

And some normal HDD for etc things.

So a BIG middle finger up for WG for messing up the coding in the game. clap clap clap great job numbnuts!:child:

Gaming laptops can be a difficult one actually. I spent a long time browsing. You'll see confusingly named gfx and cpu that sound good but actually suck...

This was useful to me https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

I wouldn't even consider anything outside of the top 100 gfx cards on that list as they're going to be pretty bad. Get a desktop if you have the room.

I hope you didn't get dual 1080 to play Ships only :amazed:

I feel silly enough getting a single 1070 for it as even mine is overkill.

Do you feel bad the 1080 Ti is out now? :teethhappy:

? got the 1080Ti... look and read closer :D:D

And no, did not get them to play ships only :child: But are they worth it? honest I have to say no when it comes to gaming. Since so few games support it... but when they do. Bloody hell :D:D

Oh dear... Yeah sorry lol. What a setup!

I assume you're 4k screen'ed up as even a single 1070 squishes 2560 res.

The only real reason to have more than a gtx 1070 at the moment, is to play in 4k or VR atm. And investing in one now for games coming in 1-2 years is just throwing money away as you could buy a similar performance card for half the price next year instead.

As for the OP, WoWs runs perfectly well on 3-4 year old setups, unless as mentioned above you want to run it at higher resolutions. The only thing it desperately needs is to be running from an SSD.

Sadly no... I have the Acer Predator Cruved LED G-Sync X34A.. And I dont even like that monitor..... terrible backlight bleed... But I am hoping that sometime around may month this year there will be some good 4k screens comming from either AOC, Asus or Acer. ( without that backlight bleed )

Well.. that is a truth with modifications. For pure gaming yes a high end vid-card setup in sli is only really needed for 4k or VR with ultra details. But I also use it for more than gaming.

And for wasting money.. also a truth with modification. If you update the vid-cards when the next high end card(s) come out you just sell the "old" ones for a nice prize. And the new cards then dont cost mutch.

Every PC needs an SSD now. The load times are stunning.

I used to get home and have to do stuff whist PC was booting. Now I barely have a chance to pour a drink :teethhappy:

Indeed, though the annoying side effect of SSDs (and also streaming) is that your basic high capacity storage HD is as pricey per TB now as 5 years ago.

Fill me in a little on your specs and I'll do what I can to help.  I'm on an i7 and it's smooth as greased pigshit.

Well that's certainly a version for the new millennium! Clever, and made me laugh out loud! :):honoring:

I'm used to an old fashioned, but slightly less controversial definition of smoothness: "As smooth as David Niven on an ice rink"

Well, I can't really afford to buy another computer right now (just emptied my wallet on a Nintendo switch)

so i dont think that would really help

Thanks for the replies, yes I agree present spec is fine for WOW's, But I also play Cod and a few other games and it struggles there.

Just adding a GTX1070 will help but it will be bottlenecked by the CPU and Mobo in my mind.

So do I wait to see how the new Ryzens pan out or go with the i5-6700??, bearing in mind my max budget is £500.

I'm quoting from a comparison review of Ryzen versus i5....

"The problem is, people don’t want complicated answers. They want simple answers and they want you to pick for them. In that case, Ryzen 5 is the way to go. It burns Core i5 to the ground in multi-threaded applications performance and doesn’t give up much in single-threaded performance."

Gaming laptops have issue of barely adequate cooling, which means it get hot AND noisy. If one wants something reasonably portable, miniITX case with full graphics support might be an option, though cooling is still on "barely adequate" side.
