I give up, I was an IJN DD player since Beta and we've been getting nothing but nerfs with every single patch, some were justified, I'll gladly admit that but most of them not so much. I'm done trying to compensate the ridiculous imbalance of DD lines with skill (which I don't have have).

Until a day comes when WG finally decides to buff the IJN DD line, SIGNIFICANLY, I'll not play this game. Goodbye and have a good day.

So long. Meanwhile, I'll carry on playing my (free) Kamikaze R, which is heaps of fun, my Shiratsuyu with an insane number of torps and occasionally my Shima which admittedly is tamed since the wall-of-torps era, but still lots of fun.

- Kamikaze ® - single most OP ship in the game, hardly difficult to have fun with that (if one has a taste for clubbing, that is)

- Shiratsuyu - agreed, it's fun

- Shimakaze - launch wall of skill -> wait 2 minutes - > repeat. Not exactly what I'd consider fun.

Try the Hatsuharu these days, or the Akizuki after the detection range change...

Akizuki has been, crippled but not destroyed... Atm. I use her as a DD escort, staying with the team, spotting torps, spamming HE, pew pewing at planes, works quite well. Hatsuharu, was a pain for me, guess we can agree on that. Then again, she's only tier VI, so the grind isnt THAT hard right? No need to re-buy her either...

The thing is, in the CBT I think no one really knew how to play. Sure, we all could aim and fire etc. but you often saw straightline sailing BBs at tier VIII, and IJN DDs were very strong in those days. You could argue there is some powercreep happening in WoWS, but that happens all the time. Look at WoT now, the maus has been buffed right back up into competitivness... Maybe this will happen with IJN DDs too, who knows? Just play the ships you like, and stop worrying about the ones you dont like :great:

Oh no worries, I even manage to have fun in the Hatsuharu occasionally ;-) Just pointing out that the examples given by Glig69 for "fun" Japanese DDs aren't really representative.

And yes, it's an absolute shame that so many BB players have learned those WASD hacks by now, although it makes the occasional "maximum range with slow torps" devastating strike all the more satisfying...

couldn't help but laugh, ijn dds are still extremely viable, they are torpedo barges and area denial vessels, if you use them as they are supposed to be used then you wouldn't have an issue.

Oh come on - the Hatsuharu never very good, so no real change there.  Dunno about the Akizuki - not played her.  And if you can't have fun occasionally clubbing a seal, then I feel sorry for you.  If you don't like your Akizuki ... play something else!

Today I also had my last game in Shimakaze. Gameplay is a joke. I cannot impact the match at all. Shima is afucking joke and I regret every minute I spent to grind it.

That sounds like a "you" problem - shima's are still ridiculously overpowered - those torpedoes are just godlike, but if you have been attempting to use your guns in a long range fire fight then its definitely your problem.

IJN DD's arent made as gun boats, they are made more as torpedo / area denial vessels.

And the reason they did this is to make smoke a little bit more usefull - learn to use the smoke and your ability to move your ship.

Will probably sell my akizuki as there is no reason to play one with russian DD's in the game that are better in every single way and don't get outrun by a battleship.

Shima is not OP. You can't contest caps against gunboats, long torpedo reloads, torpedoes get spotted from the moon. And with F3's: you have to get within radar range to launch anything.

The Imperator Nikolai and Gremyaschy would like to say Hi.

When I'm queueing for battle in my Kamikaze and I see a Gremy on the enemy team I immediately assume I will get into a close-quarters gun battle with him and lose.

I've also stopped YOLO torping battleships from 2-3km in it, because I've found even with a full broadside of 6 torps they tend to survive and I get f**ked by their secondaries.

WG should defenetely

  • nerf the torps to max 100 damage and 10 km detection range (setting the torps range to 3 km might be a bit much though...)
  • set your detection range to 15 km once  you torped (20 for the shima since its torps can reach that far)
  • and break your engine once torps are fired (because of the recoil)

then they can start nerfing CA because they fire up too much and it is unfair

after that, they might think removing the planes from CVs ... or event disabling alt function until T10 (to make it fair since no new player learned to use it yet)

maybe in the end, we'll all just have BBs but no main guns because some crackpots do actually know how to use them ...

let's all ram each-other ... that will be fun won't it ?

It's called "catering to the lowest common denominator".
