I hope that the moderators will read this and take the points seriously, rather than leaping to remove the thread once the trolls jump on it.

1) Blindy push on with buffs to BBs going back pre german ships.  The one I'm specifically thinking of is the sub 10km accuracy buff.  Wonder why cruisers are reluctant to engage below 10km and would rather sit back spamming HE.

2) Introduce a buff to AA, and wonder why CVs are practically extinct.  Also, don't bother implementing promised improvements to CV interfaces, making them even less appetising to play.

3) Change economy, making CV even less enticing to play.  Effectively remove the purpose of escort AA cruisers, and CV scouting from the game.

4) Blindly push on with skill changes in the face of strong opposition from the community.  Here's the point - to specialise your ship previously you had to:

a) work hard to make a strong captain with many points to spend.

b) sacrifice a number of weaknesses to achieve a strength.

Now, basically, you don't.  Further introduce skills that no one wanted (RPF debacle).  Alledgedly this meant you could specialise each captain to a specific ship.  In reality it meant there were STILL one or two build which most people fit.

5) Get a "new map designer" - who makes all maps pretty much the same.

6) Take the novelty Cyclone and stick it in to way to many games, making every one charge the middle and - again - give the advantage to one class of ships.

7) Nerf torpedoes to the point where specialist torpedo boats are laughable.

8) Remove "unintended" open water stealth firing.  And 20 seconds detection for DDs after they stop firing?  This has made people OPT for shorter gun range.

Here is what this has created:

No more specialist stealth builds.  Instead, way more smoke camping.  Cause that's so exciting.

BBs become yet more powerful as natural counters are further nerfed.

BBs with improved stealth.

I'm seeing a game where pride in "we own the game and know best" is taking far more weight over "we want to make the best game we can".

I'm seeing a game where the rule of unintented consequences is dominating over game design, generating yet another lurch to introduce something else to attempt to regain control.  Balancing needs a gentle touch:  You operate with a scalpel, not an axe.

No amount of Dasha is going to persuade me that this is a move in the right direction.

I'm trying to remember, what actually made the game fun to play.

It's becoming WOT-on-water - hide behind islands, hide in smoke, don't move, rather than the open water, longer ranged game where positioning was king.

It's a sad, sad thing.

It's a long way from WoT still.

The peek shooting non critical tips of tanks is utter bull and puts me off investing anymore time into it. Utter cheese gameplay

Couldn't care less about SF, main problem is being detected for 20s after shooting.

Next ranked season gonna be great for sure.

So how long It should be?

There are multiple topics on this already, in my opinion 15s would be a nice thing to try. Even 10s wouldn't sound that bad to me... for DD's ofc. CA's 5s longer and BB's 10 seconds longer. Or make it depend on gun caliber.. but that is 'complicated' and would confuse 'new players' so WG will never do it.

More in some cases, less in others, probably depending on class, ship and caliber.

Well I've had time to reflect now.

here is the new meta, thanks to the changes to this game.

See how much of this sounds familiar.  See how much of this sounds fun.

1) BBs are even more terrified to move forward.

2) This is because CAs are even more terrified to move forward.  Get spotted, suffer being shot for 20 seconds by the entire enemy team.

3) This is because DDs are even more terrified to move forward.  Get spotted, suffer being shot for 20 seconds by the entire enemy team.

4) CVs now have to contend with new controls, which are...  awful.  Mis-click once and don't notice it and you're now sailing directly towards the enemy because it's helpfully selected your carrier.  And manual drops seem more difficult to pull off.  My imagination or just a fumble-handed control system?

5) Fire your guns first.  Get spotted.  Stay spotted for 20 seconds.  Die.

6) Sit and wait til some other poor sap on your team has been spotted and will die.  So that you can fire back.  AKA, always have a meatshield.  This is gud teamplay comrade.

The game meta is now more camping, more smoke play, more huddle together for warmth regardless of the game type/cap disposition, more selfish, more BORING.

It's prime time Saturday night.  There are 22k on.  And falling.

WG - take a long hard look in the mirror.  Swallow your pride.  Realise that you dun fucked up gud.

Back out of these retarded spotting mechanics before you lose players.

Edited to more the point.

That's what happens when you rely on high profile patches with sought after content, regardless of their impact on gameplay.

The numbers soared when German BBs were introduced, and are now nosediving again.

RN BBs will do the same mid 2017.

The real question is what will save the game from being deserted in 2018? Second RN BB line?

Either way, there's little doubt that WG is now relying on short term players spending a lot in a short time before they realize that balance is awful, then moving on.

It's called the Gaijin school of marketing :^)

Which is exactly the same for 99% of the time as before the patch.
