Yup, I love how people latch on to one thing like sigma value in this case and don't accept anything else because it isn't the buff they think should have been applied. Especially something like sigma which has gained this mythical reputation as maker or breaker of BB viability despite the fact nobody in the community knows how it really works and that probably 90% of players won't actually observe the difference it makes in their day to day games.

Fuso has a horribad sigma, and while she shotguns around a lot, can often enough nail you from 20km

 

But hey, this is a British ship.

They could literally have her facerolling on tier5, and people would be complaining that she's weak.

But just imagine USN AP (Des Moines AP) on a BB... Aka penning everything that would usually be an autobounce. That right there is the definition of OP on t7. But thats not enough, since they are putting that onto a ship that is freaking tank. (From what I've seen, the tankiest t7 BB). But thats not enough. She has def AA. But thats not enough. She needs the best sigma in the game so she can be VIABLE!! Lets get this straight. All of this combined isn't enough to call her OP, but she needs MORE BUFFS to be VIABLE!!

People should really do some reality check, or something, or go back to "WoWS: 101", aka learn the basic mechanics before trying to discuss about strenghts / weaknesses, aka balance...

As I understand it, she was already a great tank, and the new somewhat different heal should make her even better at that.

People wanted some buff to guns, and she got it.

 

So I really see no problem with her (other than I find having another big counter to smaller ships a bloody bad idea right now - Too many BBs!).

Seems to me like HMS Hood will be here in May 18th, probably coinciding with an update (hence Thursday).

Exactly on time for the anniversary of 'Rheinübung', so the right time for the upcoming event, and just as the current event for Duca D'aosta ends.

But I still check the premium shop every day, hoping that WG just goes: she is a BC, close enough to a BB, so no need for balancing, if need be, we'll just fix it in post..

Hood obviously needed to be buffed, it was basically a tier 6 BB with a lot of HP.

It had WORSE guns than the Warspite a tier lower, but hey apparently asking for a ship to be competitive is being a 'teaboo'.

Because of what it was, it will be bought by everyone who is British and has the cash. Unfortunately many will be tier 3 players and it will be a turkey shoot for the seal clubbers. Before the nerf?

It would have been a large unwiedly ship with excellent tanking for her tier, and guns more than capable to damage, with good AA, great speed, and a large amount of HP.

It would have been forgiving to play, leading to long survival times, leading to good average damage. Much like the German BBs, the on average lower firepower being more than largely compensated by the fact that you live longer.

 

With this buff?

You could literally catch a cruiser angled, citpen him from the bow while citpenning him though the citadel plating angled at 67 degrees all well.

You could literally catch a DD almost broadside and get regular pens, like a German BB with 305mm guns.

Angled BB? Just fire AP on it, the superstructure/pseudo deck common at tiers 5-7, be it 16,19 or 25mm will catch a few shells, you will overmatch, and the low fuze time will grant you easy regular pens, exactly like on USN 203mm AP.

 

 

Unless you're a potato that's just going to max range full broadside snipe with HE, or yolo charge into caps with battles that have 3-5 torpedo boats, you're not going to be challenged in any way.

Just shoot AP at anything at every angle, rake in regular pens, kite around since you have good deck armor and nothing will overmatch, and use your upgraded heal to repair 60% of the damage done via regular pens done to your bow/stern, turning that 69k hp pool into potentially well over 100k. 

 

 

Also, at this point it's not a sense of humor anymore, crying on the forums every week that WG hates the Brits, that the ships are weak, and that anyone who wants a balanced Hood is just an excitable foreigner (a term that doesn't even work, considering that the Brits are just as much of foreigners on this Cyprus-based company's forum).

It's, like WoT, WoWP, and now this game, just another persecution complex that unfortunately has been running rampant on these WG based forums since 2012.

As someone who's seen all of it, let me tell you, I've seen every reasoning, whining, excuses and conspiracy theory on the subject you can think of. And these people aren't making jokes, they're dead serious.

Well she's been nerfed heavily in her long range AA fire according to Notser so air dropped torps will be a major problem and there's the turret rotation speed... Notser has hinted this could be the trait for RN BBs... As for the upgraded repair of 60%, listen to the small print in Notsers recent review, it's not as good as the Warspite.

 

For me this doesn't feel appealing as the style there seems to be only one style of game play which is very limiting. Keep the enemy 10-15km away and don't brawl. How long before Hood players are accused of yet more camping.
