[DSPA] cuddlesRO Beta Tester 336 posts Report post #1 Posted March 8, 2017 (edited) Currently I'm giving the missions a go and I find this particular one very annoying. You are basically forced to take a DD at this this because of ROF. But even if I played a tier lower Sims (that is renown for ROF) I wasn't able to do more than 170 main battery hits - and that game was a monster of a game I had). So what gives? anyone find this mission extremely retarded? What DD's are the champions of ROF at tier 8-10? Not going to grind them anytime soon but just for the record. [HOME] RobS80 [HOME] Weekend Tester 969 posts 10,752 battles Report post #4 Posted March 8, 2017 Atlanta or Cleveland are also contenders. Easier in US DD. With US DD's Once the team is comfortably in the lead (you have more caps, enemy DDs are dead etc), smoke up and spam a local enemy BB. Should not be difficult. You wont do much damage at all, but should get the mission quickly enough. Dont forget, the Sims is one gun short, so if you have Mahan or Benson (without AA hulls) and you have 5 guns, you will get it easy.

Corvi Beta Tester, In AlfaTesters 1,147 posts 16,279 battles Report post #9 Posted March 8, 2017 What ships do you have ? That mission is very easy in RU DD's, most US BB, Akizuki, Kutuzow, Atlanta/Flint, most RN Cruisers and so on ..
[DSPA] cuddlesRO Beta Tester 336 posts Report post #10 Posted March 8, 2017 (edited) Yeah well I only have US DD's and CA's and I would not bother grinding something else again (not too much time to play) but thanks for you input. Atlanta or Cleveland are also contenders. Easier in US DD. Erm.. both are tier 6 and 7 respectively . Mission needs to be in ships of tier 8 and up. Did not check, and you mentioned Sims so..... US DD Tier 8 up then. Benson (with a or B hull) is more renowned for ROF than Sims as it has 5 guns and not the 4 found on Sims. If you consider you are able to get 70-90 MHTs with BBs, you can do it with any CA or DD.

VC381 Players 2,928 posts 6,549 battles Report post #17 Posted March 8, 2017 I did this mission with Kutuzov, several times over, easy grind for that stage (I assume this is the campaign?). Chapayev with stealth fire should also make this mission trivial. Light cruisers are the way to go on this. The DD assumption is mostly wrong BTW. Yes you have the RoF but you lack the number of guns and the range, and usually you have other things to do than fire all the time and be perma-spotted. So you need to play a dedicated different playstyle to farm the hits which isn't always optimal for winning the game. Having said that, find a good smoke position in a Benson and the mission is done (you basically can't miss a Yamato).

Raziel_Walker Players 463 posts 8,787 battles Report post #22 Posted March 8, 2017 I struggled slightly with this mission at first too but positioning is important as you want to make sure you always have an available target to shoot at. So don't hug a map border on the side without any enemies.. Getting a gunboat DD or a cruiser with enough guns/ROF helps too.

What does that mean to people like you ? To people like me , it generates a lot of salt from people with no life and the sole purpose of checking someone else's performance in a game. Unfortunately for you that is pretty much the sole reason I hid my stats. Imagine someone like waxx25, a player with shiny super unicum ratings, asking how to get 200 shell hits in a single game. That, I could just put aside as a mere troll thread. Or if he asked this for real, I'd be unlikely to provide valuable advice about how to improve his performance - seen him in action a few times, had to fight against him once, it did not even hurt. Checking other people's stats is usually a good thing to do to give an adequate answer to their problems. It becomes bad as soon as below average stats are used for insults and bashing (although it might be justified in extreme cases). Hiding stats, however, will easily get you prejudged as either a troll or a "Dunning Kruger" As for the topic, I concur with previous commenters: any cruiser at T8+ can do this, even the T8 heavy cruisers if they stay afloat long enough. BBs not so much - they rather have a hard time shooting 200 shells in the first place (200 shells = 17 Montana/GK full broadside salvoes = about 8-9 minutes of constant firing without any pause; and that is without considering their hit rate of about 30%) Edited March 8, 2017 by _Kyoshi
