32 of my ships have never seen a proper battle - unusual?

Anybody else have a large number of ships that they have no intention of playing as things stand?

(I realise that collectors might have - but I am asking about non-collectors)

 

I have 91 ships in port, but 32 of them are ships that I have not played in a random battle! (*) That still leaves a healthy total of 59 to choose from of course.

So why have I not played them?

 

Well, four of the ships I will play someday, but not right now due to higher priorities.

The other 28 wont be played due to these reasons:

Unwanted prize from WoWS "Santa" containers	8
Unwanted prize from WoWS in-game event	6
Tried  in Coop, but have abandoned the experiment	5
Given by WG in split of Japanese DD line. Not interested.	4
Bought in a sale for possible future use.	3
Tried in coop and realised that I was not good enough to play it (Pensacola)	1
Very strong ship IMHO, but hate the playstyle of RN cruisers (Leander)	1

 

I know that I am a weirdo - you don't need to point that out - but are there any others out there with lots of unused ships?

 

(*) I only play random/co-op battles.

Also, I did play Tirpitz by mistake - but I am not counting that.

Only real ones I have like that are the random tier 2 ships that were give aways, or all the ARP ships, because i dont have much interest in playing glowey kongo/myoko

I haven't used Fubuki and Hatsuharu I got after the IJN DDs split. I will probably sell Fubuki, and some day I will take Hatsuharu to reach Akizuki. But IJN DDs are not much fun anymore for me.

That's my story in WOT, over 100 tanks, most played just 50 games and some premiums I bought or got for free unused. This time I'm being smarter and not keeping most of my old ships as I pass  over them. I'm planning which lines to stop at the lower tiers and which to continue. That way hopefully I won't have lots of ships with under trained captains.

In any case... I dunno why you keep the ships then? I do have some (coughalotcough) that I never play. I'm not really bothered by it. Then again, I'm a collector.

There is no point, really, except to see if anyone else is in the same situation and to provoke a discussion. If every thread had to have a point then there would not be many!

All ARP glowsticks are unused. S.Dragon I run occasionally but not really into IJN cruisers.

Everything else gets played when the mood suits, My trouble is lack of captains as I've started retaining 'keeper' ships in port so have to nab captains from other ships etc.

Compared to WoT there just isn't as many utterly crap ships as tanks imo.

Oh and Blys. Whilst I have played her I really cannot make her jump through the hoops others seem to be able too. If I could I would happily gift her to another player. She looks nice though.

I have 177 ships in my port (5 not yet unlocked 2 CVs and the last three Ger DDs) and i played them all... at least once...the bad ones that is, like the Smith and the Tier I ships.

I do occasionally take out ships for a spin, which usually just collect dust in my port.

 

But since theere is always something to do, it rarely happens these days.

I like a clean port. Any ships I don't like to play for 3 days got sold. Including premiums.

I am a bit of a hoarder. I have plenty of ships I basically never play. But keeping them is worth it.

 

Nagato. Not played in about a year. Tried her in ranked and she's fab.

Atlanta. Not played since 2015 but I might give her a try in division sometime

Bismarck. Well I just loved this ship so kept her. I have a tirpitz as well so no reason to play her, but if there is an event needing a tier 8 bb...

 

These are just a few examples. Mostly I find it's the lower tier ships that I've kept I don't play. But they aren't taking any space up so they will sit there. I try to have at least one ship from tier 3 to division with, but I sold svietlana after getting ishizuchi for Xmas. I have imperator too so I have enough tier IV

Today I mentioned in the Waifu thread my love for heavy cruisers, but somehow this didn't reflect ingame for a long time. Lost my interest, so my heavy cruisers in port were collecting rust for a long time. I'm now starting to use my Myokous and Atago's more, and I'm especially beginning to get somewhat decent results in Atago and ARP Takao, and with that more fun. Still regret using free XP for New Orleans and Admiral Hipper. Collecting rust, as is Prinz Eugen. But I have to learn to play Pringles no matter what - it's my current avatar after all. 

 

Low tier ships are rusting away as well, since I don't play at the low tiers as much as I used to do. And I have two CV's. Never played, but I haven't found the courage to play so far, except for a session in the test room where I got rekt by bots.

I suggest that you change your attitude about ships being unwanted and boldly take those ships out to the sea every now and then. Then again, when you have a lot of ships, some don't get played all that often.

After ranked we need more ship lines and an event I think. My grinds are all up at tier 7 8 and 9 now and I find myself lacking the will to furiously grind ships like I do through low and mid tiers.

I probably use no more than a 3rd of my fleet on a regular basis. A few I wont even consider get rid of for because reasons. But some do get the occasional outing in co-op.

I know. But I also have other tier 8 BBs. It's a bit crowded. What I meant is tirpitz can train captains and make money. Until my Bismarck captain gets 19 points the Bismarck is a bit redundant
