My supershort guide:

Im not trying to be sarcastic but in my opinion go ¼ speed or wait the first few minutes

and when you get a nice view of the situation you decide where to go full on.

that means you have a cautious playstyle, I'm not that kind of person. By the time you have a good view of everything thats happening your DD may already be fighting her/his counterpart.

Yep, this doesnt fit all BBs but I have learned that if you are early spotted and/or make

the wrong destination/overpush then you are screwed in BB.

yep, thats why I generally hate people calling BB's the easiest shipclass in the game to play, because BBs are very hard to master.

No you're not screwed. You might get focus fired but if you know what you're doing (covering your flank with cover, planning an egress route, etc) you can limit the incoming damage while you're focus fired. Also, coming close to a cap (with the proper team support, if you have no support obviously things are different) is not "overpushing" only because you are an obvious primary target. It's doing your job.

And then there's the 2nd part of it - If you're left alone, as an advanced BB you'll have golden chances of dealing enormous damage and wrecking the enemy team ships within your range (and given that you're advanced, your range covers a VERY large portion of the map). And if you're focus fired that might mean that you'll lose a good chunk of health (that you can repair), but it also means that your (far squishier) teammates (who in most cases, can't repair their own damage), who're doing the actual capping, scouting and destroyer hunting are not being shot at.

That is specially true if all your team BBs (including yourself) are the same kind of chicken, while the enemy team BBs are not. Your whole team is screwed if you aren't there to stop enemy BBs pushing a cap. There are few larger king-sized NOPEs for capping an area than having one or two BB sitting 10-ish km away from it turning the whole zone essentially into a no-cruiser area, while the other team's BBs are still strolling at 10 knots next to their own spawn. Cruisers won't dare popping out from behind cover, or coming close to the area, which essentially means your DDs have a free hand at capping and your cruisers will get the same freedom to go around wrecking enemy DDs.

The BB role is not look for the golden devastating strike from 20km, the BB role is to be a tank and a damage sponge while the rest of the team anihilates the enemy. And you can't and won't do that if you move at 1/4 speed "until the picture is clear". That's exactly the kind of completely wrong "advice" I made fun of in my "guide".

great guide pity majority of BB players  ive encountered tend to stick at map borders trying to snipe.

Thanks!

Any other additions I should make?

I implemented some corrections, added the pan-Asian DDs to the radar ships and added an explanation to what turtleback armour is for those who are newer to the game :)

Thanks for the guide. I am very new player. Tier 4 max. I am fast learner and I read. Mostly I play destroyer in which I don’t suck that much. But I am trying to play all types, mostly to learn their style to know how to kill them (concept from world of tanks ;). Witch B.B. I struggle. Mostly because of my poor aiming. I know that comes by playing. But do you have any general tips? I think I understand when using, which ammo type etc. at least I think. But boooy, that aiming. Recently I learned too shoot like 2 shots to see where they fall and then the rest, but any other advice? ;)) thank you

As primarily a destroyer player, I really hope more BB players read this and GO FOR THOSE BLOODY RADAR CRUISERS. That feeling when I'm in my Shimakaze and there's a Des Moines only 9km away, but the Izumo behind me prefers shooting at the Bismarck...

Overall a fairly good guide to a BB's general overall strategy. I play battleships (have Tirpitz, currently grinding Amagi) as an off-role of sorts, and lots of these tips are ones I would give to people as well. Consider giving a short list of tips for individual BBs as well. A North Carolina (bow-in troll) plays very differently from an Amagi (broadside devastator) or a Bismarck sister (CHAAAAAAAAAAAARGE!), after all.

Those radar cruisers are a bloody nightmare for my GoKu, they hug the islands and can lob shells over places I can't reach.

You might want to put some titles/headings into that text. The people of this era are ever less willing to read huge walls of text.

well i actually read all of it.

Might put an update for freshmen with sum more radars ingame. I see salem, krohnshtadt and stalingrad missing... Also learning their radar duration and range could vastly improve ur survivability. For dds for sure but other classes as well.

I just might tend to slightly dissagree at a single point, when in Gneisenau and Jean Bart i sometimes use forbidden cautious approach at start. In those two i have the speed to close in quickly where i am most needed. Full speed to a cap that has no targets for me tends to put me out of position. By the time i realize that we have no nme at our flank it means that our opposite flank is about to colapse and i lost a lot of time and space needed to reposition to reinforce. So i do find half or quarter speed mid centre approach safest way to get into flank action asap when sh*t hits the fan.

So what do you do when there are no caps, just unlocked the Russian tier 3 and 4 BB's, they are so bad that quite literally I am considering uninstalling the game. I watched Notsers video on this tier 3 BB and he did tons of damage, I am doing nothing, after 3 battles, all losses, time to give up I think, low tiers suck, and I just know it is not going to get better, and what is it with 36 seconds reload, way too long, not impressed at all.
