Blown up ships and planes are scattered over the ocean. As the smoke lifts repeat champions OMNI-Masochists, firmly on their throne, look upon the fallen challengers. They have defended their title, and may now enjoy their victory. A throne is comfortable.

But being the king makes you worthy prey. Your treasures will never be safe, and the temporary silence deceives. Even as the sea calms already new captains and old veterans gather again to wrest the crown and proclaim themselves the new KING OF THE SEA.

The World of Warships competitive community proudly presents:

King of the Sea Tournament II

The next test for the King will be held on the:

4th and 5th of March starting at 16:00 CET

Signup will open on the 25th of February at 18:00 CET here. Be ready, it is first come first served.

If the last tournament is anything to go by, we expect the spots to go very quickly so have your team roster sorted out and ready to submit as soon as the signups go live. You cannot sign up a team without at least 9 people (max 12).

General rules:

  • 9 vs. 9, Tier 8
  • 12 members per team
  • Up to 3 teams per clan/community
  • 32 Teams
  • All teams progressing past the first round will receive a reward
  • Map pool: Trident, Shards, Islands of Ice, Sea of Fortune, Neighbors, Warriors Path, Loop

Good to see another tournament coming up. Good job organising the last one!

As part of the runner's up team last time round I have to say the prize of 10 containers was rather, to put it politely, pants. Don't get me wrong it was incredibly satisfying to get to the final with the bracket the team I was a part of had but it was a bit of a slap in the face to open 10 containers getting 3 premium smokes / defensive AA and 3 liquidator signals in each. This is compared to last time round the teams getting premium ships. I'm saying this as constructive feedback for the next time as really when we're dealing with what's ultimately an e-currency and easily created by WG with a click, that was a terrible main prize for 2nd and 1st place.

For future tournaments it would be great to see the 1st and 2nd prizes something more like this:

1st;

Flag

100 FTW camouflages

30 days premium

5k doubloons/premium ship about to be released

2nd;

50 FTW camouflages

7 days premium

2.5k doubloons

That's also a bump in camouflages for 2nd as last time 3rd and 4th got 20 camouflages for the 25 that 2nd received. The added effort of being in the final just isn't equal to the change in prize pool.

I could totally understand you may think I'm being biased towards second place getting a boost but 1st has a greater boost in the prize.

Finally I'd just like to say I'm grateful for the containers but none of the consumables/signals were at all needed in my port.

I Agree with Ginger on the prize pool thingy. The rewards in King of seas 1 were worse compared to Winter King.

Ataw, pls dont forget about teams on other places than 1st :look:

Thank you for your feedback about the prizes!

It helps us a lot to get constructive ideas what players want so please be vocal about it. Since we don’t pay for the prizes we don’t have the final word on it. Sponsoring prizes worth over 250.000 doubloons is not something WG gives out lightly and we are thankful to help us. Prizes are a subject we talk about every time we start organizing a new event.

March prizes will be better than the last ones, but we can still improve there. If we get a bigger prize pool in the future we will put a little more into the lower ranks than into the first place.

The message was as much to WG as the organisers, glad to see you'll have the prizes sorted!

Albeit the tournament after we had two teams in the final.

 :medal:

Couldn't resist a little friendly banter!

I understand as organisers you have put a lot of your free time into organising all three of the King of the Sea/Winter tournaments but the rewards unfortunately are on a steady decline from the first tournament in the series.

It is rather disappointing when earlier in this topic you mentioned the prizes would be better than last time.

I'm sorry to say they just aren't.

It seems a shame, when community events are put on and people take their free time to organise such events creating free publicity for Wargaming, the company itself can't give out better rewards as the competitive scene and the publicity around it grows. It is ultimately just a click of a button as it is their own currency they'd be rewarding teams with.

Hopefully there is time for Wargaming to bump the prize pool, not just for 1st and 2nd as Kamikazesushi pointed out above.

Thank you for your feedback, we will take it into account for the next event and will try to put more pressure on WG, but we can’t promise anything. To be honest we can only take what WG offers. Your Feedback helps to strengthen our point.

From my personal point of view I would love to offer more to all, but maybe we started to high and forced expectations we can’t live up to. For an almost monthly event we get a lot (if you count the doubloons), but maybe the flags/camos value in doubloons are overrated. I promise that I will do my very best to get as much prizes as possible. Ask MrConway, he knows how annoying I can be about free stuff ;).

This is not aimed as a critique of organizers, but at WG. WG is even promoting this particular tournament on its website...and yet, people play it just for the fun of it abecause the rewards are really crapy. It might look good if you count all prices in dubloons but its not because camos are extremely overpriced.

I am not sure if WG gives you any choice in the price selection. If yes, I think that reward in actual dubloons would be much more valuable. Even geting 50 % less than the camo price would be preferable for me.

To make an example - Winter king top 8 reward included 1 day of premium(plus some camos). It was delivered on friday so I used it on saturday on double XP weekend. This gave me about 100x much more(both XP and money) than a few tournament camos. Dubloons would even give you freedom when you activate the prmium time and you can even use it for other things if you prefer, like respec some captains. I would say not many people are happy with the camos and even less would buy them for this price....
