AFK players (result of "stuck in loading" bug)

Hello,

 

More and more people are experiencing this "stuck in loading" bug.

Literally you get stuck in loading screen, where you can even observe the battle in the "your team tab".

The "Start battle" never appears and you have to "kill" the game client manually and restart.

 

Many people come in late in the game, or do not come in at all.

I have PMed several AFK people to see what is going on and they all said the game client got stuck in loading screen.

 

This is seriously effecting the game, as if a team has for instance AFK CV the game is automatically lost.

More and more players complain about this problem (I have reported the bug back in 0.5.XX, did report again just now) so please WG look into it ASAP.

 

1. Description

Happens when a division enters a battle (rarely solo game). On occasion (happening more often with every patch).

The problem is that at loading into battle you do not have an action to return to port.

You can track progress of your team (like watching TV literally) while you are stuck in this "lobby". Effects both (tested only on two) division members.

The only solution is to "kill" the game process, restart the game, and the client starts battle load again.

Unclear.

3. Result

Team handy cap. AFK rage.

It takes at least 5 minutes to kill the client from task manager, restart the client, login to port, wait for the battle to load. 

Very high percentage of players give up in the process, leaving a handicapped team.

4. Expected results

I would expect to be able to "go to port" from the loading lobby if there is problem entering battle. Still far better than being stuck there.

5. Technical details

Latest game client. Tested on good and stable pc.

 

I can even imagine how will this effect the upcoming ranked, but if it will, expect another sheet storm on its way.

I've experienced this several times, but not playing in division. Hopefully this is something that WG will fix soon!?

Last Saturday was terrible. I had a game were the two top tier BBs were sitting idle in spawn until the game was already lost. When they finally connected, they did what they could, but our team didn't exist by then. In at least two more games one of the top tier BBs never entered the game, and in another one it was the aircraft carrier which was missing.

 

Strangely, on Sunday I didn't notice that in my teams at all, apart from the typical Destroyer starting a bit too late into the game.

 

By the way, I've had this happening to me a few times since Closed Beta. It's not something new and it doesn't happen only in divisions. I was always playing alone when it happened.

Have had the same problem. You could be right about it only happening when in division - I can let you know if it happens solo as well.

This happened a lot to me but it was in the time my desktop was simply no longer up to the task anymore/outdated and it started to affect other applications as well. I bought a new desktop, solid video card and SSD memory and it never happened since

Why do you insist doing things more complicated than necessary?

Ctrl+Shift+Esc opens Task Manager directly.

Whilst I gave never experienced this myself there is one guy I division with and he will not manage to get into about 30% of games.

 

Solo, he says, he has no problems.

 

Several times I have had to intervene when another player asks in chat for everyone to 'report the afk'

Happened to me a couple of times (SOLO), quick answer is to go to your desktop in windows, start task manager, right click on your world of warships task, scroll down to end process tree for the game, then reload world of warships, then your back in that game withing 2 minutes (Not 6-9 minutes), about the same time some BB players just start to move from spawn. 

 

Now imagine some older players, who (may) not know this and reboot the computer (or even abandoning the game after reboot)

After all even ALT-TAB to desktop, right clicking the WoWS task in the taskbar and "Close/Exit program" does not work (at least not on mine Win10/7).

 

Even the MM prob has some timer of when it loads the game auto on client restart, or when to "abandon" the game and load into the port only making that ship "still in battle" (same scenario when you exit the battle).

There is no port/current battle switch implemented ... and i think its a major lack in GUI design. Am I wrong?

 

And talking about minutes 2 ... or 4 ... or 6 ... it doesnt matter! It relies on the players quick reaction, some knoledge and computer power.

4 minutes late in a DD mean I didnt compete the caps and could effect the game result right from the start.

Not to mention that 2 minutes late in CV can mean a difference between finding your ship afloat or sunk into the bottom of the ocean by the enemy CV first wave strike force.

Saw that bug at least 4-5 month ago. As soon as I see that it occurred (loading battle bar filled, but my icon is still like I am loading, and no start battle icon) I immediately restart WoWS

Hey guys, yes this 'bug' is still here... however there is a very easy fix to it.

 

When a MAJOR patch occurs is when these issues become their worst.... I was having them until I made a very simple change, when there is a MAJOR patch.... uninstall game and do a CLEAN INSTALL then you will NEVER have these issues again !

From time to time I also have this issue. Interestingly when it happens it is always the second match I play.

Had it as well,both in solo and div. mostly it happens the 2nd or 3rd match. I also notice it pretty early: you still get the loading bar. If you don't get the "start battle" button within 5 seconds of it reaching the end, you've got the bug. Just kill the game and restart. This allows me to be backin game within ~20s of the actual start.

It happened before, but much more often lately. I usually have this in solo games, rarely in division (other people experience the opposite). Sometimes I even have to restart the PC once or twice to get the game client working again.

 

If this happens in division, at least you have people around who can tell the team you are late because of game freeze and not being afk on purpose, so the fleet can adapt to it and even protect you if they like. In solo you simply get reported for being a bot.

 

Worst thing about this is getting a 100% "first win of the day" bonus with 0 xp...

Has happened a few times lately, 

for me it also seems related to the chrome browser, as chrome will freeze up and wows will stick on the loading screen until killed and restarted

I had this problem too a few times lately. If I notice that the loading time is too long Its best to restart the client quickly. You lose around 45 sec on that but still can join the battle at the start.

I haven't been stuck in queue / loading screen in a long time and I haven't done a clean install since 5.4 

 

Clean install should give the exact same file system you should get after running a file integrity check through the launcher ( I would assume.. ).

Used to have that issue, went away once I stopped using mods. Disclaimer: Linux user, so might not be transferable to Windows systems.

Used to see that issue quite a lot until I replaced my PC with a newer one with much more 'grunt'. Only problem I get now is British Telecom's miserable internet service dropping every now and again.
