waxx25 Players 1,296 posts 11,488 battles Report post #1 Posted February 8, 2017 I suspect I know why WG made this season tier 7 but I won't go too far into tin-foil-hat theories. This next season will be dominated by the cruiser Belfast and the destroyer Leningrad. I just bought the Lenningrad myself and.....wow. It is everything you wanted your Kiev to be, stealth, speed, 8km torps and a decent hp pool. It simply has no competition at its tier, the Byska comes close but doesnt match it. Belfast.....do I really need to say more? an example of what Leningrad is capable follows, mind you this is my very first game in it and it was a defeat.

KptStrzyga Beta Tester 4,868 posts 5,014 battles Report post #3 Posted February 8, 2017 (edited) My bet is on Błyska (faster turrets so much better than Lenin in knife fight and more of stealth shooting) and Sharnhorst. And Saipan. Edited February 8, 2017 by KptStrzyga
[-RDE-] PotatoTorpedo Players 98 posts 30,624 battles Report post #4 Posted February 8, 2017 (edited) Leningrad? Not impressed. My Blyska has 6.8 km Stealth and more guns. Leningrad has better stealth, faster firing guns, higher top speed and better torps. It's a close call for me between the two. Both very good ships. Along with the Sims, one of my favourite ships in the game, we have some great (premium!) DD to choose. Edited February 8, 2017 by PotatoTorpedo

[NWP] __Helmut_Kohl__ Beta Tester 4,156 posts 18,919 battles Report post #6 Posted February 8, 2017 How could Lenin ever be better in a gun fight?! Even when Lenin gets all guns at the target, Blys still has 15% more DPM. And Blys can stealth fire from 10.4 km.
albinbino Players 662 posts 11,080 battles Report post #7 Posted February 8, 2017 No need for premium ship to be competative in tier 7. Just get Genissau, which is easy OP ship in its tier. If you like cruisers get the russian one.
[NWP] __Helmut_Kohl__ Beta Tester 4,156 posts 18,919 battles Report post #8 Posted February 8, 2017 Gneisenau, Fiji and Mahan should indeed be just as competitive non-premiums.
ParEx Weekend Tester, In AlfaTesters 1,449 posts 7,711 battles Report post #9 Posted February 8, 2017 Yep, but thats it. I really dont think we will see a lot of mixed games in this season. A lot of ships I like will not be competetive I guess. How about Lollanta? Pepsi, Sims? Guess these will not be seen a lot...

Leningrad is faster and harder to hit - a missed salvo hurts the Blys more with its slower reload. Leningrad has better stealth and maybe can get the first hit in. The two ships are very close. It all comes down to RNG and skill. Edited February 8, 2017 by PotatoTorpedo

My guess is that its gonna be alot german BBs and british CLs, but there are many more choices, often depending on playstyle. Not as bad as the last Bismarck vs Benson. [SICK] Exocet6951 Weekend Tester 5,151 posts 11,809 battles Report post #18 Posted February 8, 2017 If there are as many Saipans as the last tier7 season, Leningrads will quickly be replaced by Blyskas.9 plane Saipan DB squadrons can melt steel beams Stalin ships. Still absolutely certain that we'll see Shiny Horse, Blyska, Saipan and probably Belfasts as top picks. Secondary picks? The poor man's version of those same ships, Gneisenau, Mahan, Hiryu and either Fiji or Myoko.

Makes no sense at all. What is the difference AA wise between Blyska and Leningrad? You could argue the Leningrad, being faster, is actually harder to hit. Speed really is all she has to protect her from CVs and that can be a problem too, tends to drift into turns like a lot of the Russian DDs do. More against torp drops though. creamgravy Players 2,780 posts 17,292 battles Report post #24 Posted February 8, 2017 Leberecht Maass and Akatsuki are very similar to Błyskawica and Leningrad. They all have good speed, good guns and good torpedoes. Akatsuki is my no.1 fav at the moment. The only ones with a unique advantage are... Shiratsuyu - The only tier 7 destroyer with great concealment. Other destroyers can't push into you, assuming your team mates have played this game before. Sims - The only tier 7 destroyer with amazing AA, better than most T7 cruisers with the right captain. It'll crush CV heavy meta.
