What are the best DD line for killing/hunting other DDs?

IJN gunboat line with t8 and 9 being best, USA still good close range, but the best destroyers now are british Dds. Good gun DPM smoke on demand, defensive hydro.

RN DDs. good guns, decent concealment, defensive hydro and short smoke cooldown .... RPF+BFT and you are a killer ... so far my experience in the Lightning is excellent ... I fail more often than the ship does ...

In 1vs1 gun fight there are a lot of good dds at t9 t10.

It will seem like I am being pedantic but bare with me for a second.

The best line for hunting other DDs depends on your definition of the word "hunt".

 

For example, while the RN DDs are very good in fights against other DDs, with the Daring being exceptionally good, the line overall is not great at actually chasing down other DDs down because they are also the slowest DDs in the game. Basically if someone wants to run away from you, you have no way of stopping them. RN DDs rely on your opponents being willing to fight you. If they do decide to fight you though, you can kill any other DD.

On the other hand, nothing can match the Kleber (and the french line in general) if it has Radio Location and if its Main Battery Reload Booster is not on cooldown. Other DDs simply cannot get away from it and it also has plenty of torpedoes and is exceptionally difficult for its targets to hit it with torpedoes because of the speed. Additionally,  it is the only DD that can fight against other DDs while under fire from the enemy fleet and actually get away with it. Granted WG hit it with the nerf bat a bit too hard and its stealth should have been nerfed to only 7.5km but no DD can get away from it or fight it in a 1v1 except maybe the Daring because of smoke and heals but it will be a very close fight.

 

So if you define "hunt" as the ability to fight other DDs then the answer is the RN line. If you define it as being able to actively chase and engage enemy DDs then the French DDs are the best.

 

The harugumo is terrible at fighting DDs because it takes full penetration from BBs and it's slow and fat. It's just not possible to fight an enemy DD if it has big friends slinging shells at you. Its DPM is also pretty much on par with the Daring so there's that.
