Hi,

Has anyone else noticed that when playing the Prinz Eugen or Lo Yang, you are nearlly everytime, in a tier X match?

I love the look of the eugen but its just not viable vs t 10 superiors.  Please sort this out wargaming.

Thanks

No, this is a specific question about these two premiums. I have played tier viii and seen u also play high tier too often but this thread relates to two ships which are pretty much there all the time.

Both are fine ships for coop-brawling. Use them there, you will see mostly T6. :honoring:

There is no "special" matchmaking, T8 is just in a bad position.

Just one of those thing that the MM at T8 is pretty poor. I want to play my Eugen more however the MM at T8 prevents me from really liking it.

WGs MM re vamp never ceases to amaze me.

Whereas before everyone got up tier punished, now it's just for specific tiers. With T5 and T8 being the main losers and T7 now being a mini T10. I laugh when I get top tier in the Scharn again and again.

I do not think the MM is the problem in itself. I think the change have come because of premiums camos for tier 10. With those, people can earn money like a premium when the play tier 10, and that seems to have increased the number of players playing tier 10 ships a lot, and when a lot of players play tier 10, more tier 8 players than before need to go into those matches to fill the bottom tier. Something that is made even worse by the suspected fact that few players play tier 9 compared to tier 8 and 10. Such that when tier 8 ships are not top tier, the rarely end up in tier 9 matches.

And love the movie you took the profile picture from :)

Yeah the T10 camos haven't helped as it means T10 has become a right when something like a Yamato is a privilege.

I'm fairly sure there was an MM change that gave T7 massively preferred chances of being top tier

I think tier 7 so often become to tier now, because the large increase in tier 10 gameplay "soak up" the tier 9 and 8 ships. Tier 7 gets top tier because the tier 8 ships are busy being farmed by tier 10s. It seems to me that the change came exactly when they introduced the premium camos. After that, I have mostly been playing tier 10 myself, and tier 5 and 6 I have mostly given up on.

what's wrong with that? More damage for you to farm

Maybe like that for someone with your winrate, but average players will get farmed by rather than farming the tier 10s

Bloody hell chaps.

Why so many crying whining threads about getting uptiered?

All I have to say on it is:

I think the problem is the sheer number of T7/8 games played relative to any other tier, this has the effect of dragging anything below T7 into their games and anything above T8 into theirs.

personally I feel the tier 8 always getting shoved into tier 10 matches probably makes more players leave over time than anything else wg do

when players get constant tier 10 games and find their premiums aint that great against tier 10s or the ships they have grinded (looking at you new Orleans) are so bad at tier 10 they just give up on the game

Premiums should always get -2 MM!!! WG WAKE UP! /sarcasm

Funny thing though, whenever i take out my Kamikaze, usually end up with a Saipan in the enemy team lul.

I swear my Lo Yang has never seen a tier 8 game ever. You may argue that it can stomp tier 10 DD's but when you are leveling a new captain - because Pan Asia - and everyone sees you going into cap that doesn't really work.

CE, and the concealment module on the Eugen, don't open fire until you have to, and pick on others that are already engaged shooting some one else. I don't have a problem with the Eugen's MM, and i'm not even that good.

Confirmation bias.

That's just unlucky MM. Same as switching to HAS because there's no CVs around and *bamm*, suddenly CVs everywhere. RNGods Old Testament style: clingy jealous, vengeful and prone to temper tantrums. That's just how RNG is.

That's just unlucky MM. All T8 ships have it bad, if you feel that way about it try asking WG for a refund...

Hey guys. Decide. First I hear "T7 is a sweet spot", and obviously T7 has much worse MM than T8. T7 gets T9 which is much more numerous than T10.

Maybe the subjective "feeling" comes from T7 getting poor T5, because T6 which is clubbed by T8's already contains some strong ships & premiums :yes_cap:

Also, I noticed that MM depends very strongly on time of day. During daytime, especially on weekends, there is much more lower tiers playing. At night only sharks remain ;)

I think tier 7 so often become to tier now, because the large increase in tier 10 gameplay "soak up" the tier 9 and 8 ships. After that, I have mostly been playing tier 10 myself, and tier 5 and 6 I have mostly given up on.

I don't want to check again, but last time I looked still many more played T9 than T10. Not to mention T8 - so "soaking up" is probably marginal.

T8 can't be "busy farmed by T10" because there is much more T7 than T10.

And you're right, T5 and T6 are currently scr*ed because they were artificially forbidden from getting T3 and T4, so the best they can have is +1 MM, never +2.

WG just brutally offset the problem from the area when people are still prone to quit if clubbed too hard (T3-T4) to slightly higher tier. Offset, not solved.

The money must flow... everybody must be pushed to advance to the end of the food chain. :coin:

I think the problem is the sheer number of T7/8 games played relative to any other tier, this has the effect of dragging anything below T7 into their games and anything above T8 into theirs.

Still, much more T6 ships is "dragged" into T8 battles, than T10 ships, even if T6 are "spread" between T5 and T8, and T10 only between T8 and T10.

Incorrect.

First of all, because more people are playing lower tiers than higher tiers it gives the larger numbers. But because at T5 your MM is -1/+2 it cuts your MM since you cant see T3 meaning your chance of seeing higher tiers is increased. Where at T7 you have this large number of people in T5 and 6 with this slanted MM at 5 pushes up the chance of you seeing them giving you the normal top tier.

The reason T7 doesn't see 9 as much as 8 sees 10 is because of the slim numbers playing T9 and 10 compared to 8. So with the slanted MM pushing 5s up and the large number of 8s but slimmer 9s and 10s they need to be put some where which is normally with 8s. If there was more 9s and 10s around the balance of MM would change

7, 9 and 10 are sweet spots. 5, 6 and 8 have less favorable MM.

Unless there is a large variation in ships queuing for certain tiers, we can assume that on average there is a linear decrease in ships the higher the tier. So the largest pool consists of T5 and T6 ships that are uptiered due to MM limitations. Then there is a pool of T9 and T10 ships, that will combine to drag T8 into their battles because they can't ever go up (until there are so many T9 and T10 that they only fight same tier).

You can't just say there are more T9 so T7 has higher chance to be uptiered, because there are way, way, way more ships below T7 that have nowhere to go.
