This ship is so much fun and, most importantly, she is a unique ship. Arizona is more or less a New Mexico with thicker belt armor but worse guns and non-existent AA. And people playing it as a cruiser screw their teams... Its a knife fight BB, to get up close, not to turn around and kite. Short range those 283s will bring you a world of hurt. [XTREM] walter3kurtz Players 1,037 posts 10,820 battles Report post #10 Posted January 27, 2017 Scharnhorst takes some skill though, if you think you can jsut charge in because turtleback and torpedoes, you will be focused and die in 30 seconds. You need to read the battle and know where to go in any battleship, without being too far from action or risk ending the round with a terrible score and low damage. Cruisers and destroyers are more forgiving in that sense, but they can die pretty fast when taking any sort of risk. If you think you can be stealthy and hide behind smoke / islands, you can go for Belfast or Blyskawica (that last one has no option to train captains for other ships because Poland). Oh it looks like we have different concept for cruisers, well: My favourite cruiser is Atlanta, 13km range, efective range of 13 against BBs, 10 against cruisers, 6 against dds. Also its an ambush ship, totally OP at <5km. (AR and BFT for <4 secs reload is nasty) German cruisers are amazing because their torps angles. British because they can get close and smoke. Japanese because good camo and can support dds and ambush other cruisers. Americans meh, im at NO so dont really want to talk about it But with bad arcs they are better for close range. And we come to the russians, fatties with good guns great for long range spam. (at tier 6 atm) I play all the lines in the game, the only one im thinking about stopping is russian cruisers, just boring. So I really think you should think about whats a cruiser role is. AA and speed are poor tho. However vs Scharnhorst, really, it has to be the german BB. It's a strong contender for being the best premium, tier for tier obviously. The Captain Skill changes have some cool possibilities with Scharnhorst. Plus MM is very favourable at T7 as opposed to T6 where you will be facing T8 much of the time. You have an answer for almost everything and the only negative is underwhelming AP pen of lower calibre main armament/wonky dispersion. HE is very effective also. Perhaps you would be better off for a while longer choosing a Prem BB or CA at Tier 5 or 6 and learning a bit more about the game etc, rather than jumping further up the tree. I made that mistake and whilst your stats are quite good (much better than mine lol) you will probably struggle in a higher tier match and be a burden to your team. I actually think that I see more tier 8 battles in my Tier 6 ships than I see tier 8 AND tier 9 battles in my tier 7 ships... The current MM is really fubar for 5,6 and 8... Why do you want a premium ship? Because: - they are premiums - they are shiny - they earn more money/xp - they are better then their counterpart (pick one) We would advice you better after that. Treat it slightly more cruiser-ish. I'd recommend Arizona if you're fond of New Mexico. Or if you're, like me, a BB fan. I had to have the "holy 3" (Arizona, Yamato and Bismarck). Still, OP is regarding what to buy, scharnhorst or arizona, and the OP arguing it fits its playstyle. The poster plays cruisers, scharnhorst and arizona are not cruisers and should not be played like one, again, no kite and burn.
