Poland:

1 ship. Destroyer ORP Błyskawica.

100% of Polish ships in game are paper ships.

Blys existed and had a fairly decent war, although I suspect you're trolling :hiding:

And it`s awesome ship. I don`t get what is the OP`s point. Paper ships aren`t bad ships. Not all of them. In fact some of best ships in game are paper.

Edit: My bad, I thought he ment "paper armor", not ships that are fictional.

Amagi was scrapped, but her sister Akagi was turned into a CV

The CV named Amagi which was completed in 1944 was Unryû-class

I think that the Montana is a bit special however. The design was finished, they had made actual plans where and how to build it and it was already decided that it would be built by the US authorities. So it is a paper ship, but a ship that came very close to actually being buildt

The informations useful but I don't see a point. Also wasn't there another Montana ship called the Buffalo or something? Tier X premium?

Same could be said of the Minotaur I think. Just the funds and will were lacking to build such a ship.

I see point. They gonna boost nations with 1/3 paper ships instead of finishing nations that had 100% real ships.

What I also find a bit strange is that the british tier 9 and 10 are paper ships, since the british actually had an actual Minotaur class and Tiger class that could have filled those places?

Well there is an easy reason for that. The Tiger only had 4 guns in 2 turrets... Soooo it isn't going to work well at Tier IX and X haha. Hence why they had to go with Neptune and Minotaur. Also Tiger got outfitted with missiles not long into her life. And as for the real Swiftsure class? Could make it a nice Tier VIII/IX premium. It was an updated crown colony class iirc. Its really why the Neptune and Minotaur weren't built, they were already out of date.

Even all the resources needed for making it were definitely available and allocated.

But just before shipyards got previous ships out and there would have been space for laying its keel admirals realized time of battleships was over and they didn't need more battleships but more carriers, destroyers etc..

Alternately if IJN hadn't managed to keep real design of Yamato class so well protected secret USN would have definitely built Montana class (or something lot bigger than Iowa) earlier.

So Montana can't be put into same group with all "wet dreams"/vague sketches etc imaginary ships.

Amagi was scrapped, but her sister Akagi was turned into a CV

Because of too much damage from earthquake.

Also because of Washington Naval Treaty it was to be converted to carrier instead of being finished.

So it was definitely real design/ship building project, which just never got finished because of events.

Nope, Buffalo is something close to Des Moines, aka t10 USN cruiser, but with 4 turrets and 15 sec reload instead of 3 turrets and 6 sec reload 203 mm guns. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Iam actually glad WoWs has some paper ships. The Kriegsmarine stopped to actually build large surface warships after the Tirpitz, the Japanese also barely had any ressources left to build new ships. The 4th Yamato-Class ship was even canceled.

So what? Letting the lines like the german BB line just end with T8?

I like these "what if"-scenarios. I dont wanna win the historical accurate battle of Midway for the 500th time for the americans.

We already saw historical WW2 scenarions countless of times, it would be boring after a couple of games.

Would also love a WW2-Shooter with a german invasion in England or even a huge axies-invasion in America in the 50s with a lot of paper-weapons.

I just saw enough french WW2-villages.

The small 9000 ton Swiftsure is tier 6 or 7, essentially a Fiji with only three turrets and better AA, but HMS Hawke could be tier 8 with three mk 24 turrets (think a mini Neptune)

The large 15,000 ton Neptune and Minotaur were completely unaffordable after the war but parts were build for them.

ain't a shooter, but is built allover around "what if's"....the mother of all mothers ^^:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzer_General

campaigns can be completed differentley (how blitz r u?) and maps like invasion of palestine, england or north america can be unlocked by good progress (edit: there's also a lot of experimental weapons in it, as well as a ton of modfiles with alternative maps, units and so on). there seem also modern clones of it (opensource lgeneral and tobuy panzer corps):hiding:

Besides imagine a WoWs without "what if's" ...would be a bit boring at some point. But u need a certain instinct on that paper models. At the moment, with some exceptions, its quite balanced i think. But i am fearing the RU BBs :teethhappy: what would that be, like 70%-80% paper? But i guess they aren´t really in sight.

Every nation will need paper ships, some more than others. Then of course there are the high tiers which will be paper heavy(perhaps only destroyers will have primarily built ships, without counting CVs which shouldn't be present in every tree).

I see your point and I agree; most of the cases I am fine with paper ships. They probably make balancing easier, and IF well implemented, I'd love to see experimental ship plans or unique ships even as premiums, much more so than retextured tech tree ships. For example, Kostenko's battleship, or Popov's monitor, the Novgorod.

Hovewer, the other side of the coin is that where do we draw a line? Because right now we are going to get russky DD-s which are a real ships but are a "bit" new to the so-far time frame of the game, and - granted, it's purely subjective - I'd rather give WoWs a year of planning limit than a number of ship plans limit.

Also wasn't the Amagi laid down and destroyed in an earthquake, or was she made into a CV...

Yes was Amagi.. however some of the listed paper ships were actually laid down like H39, Montana ect so i wouldnt Count them as true paper ships.

If you think it's unfair that Montana is included then there are a lot of other ships that should be removed from the list as well.

As Daemon93 mentioned the high tiers (9, 10) will be quite lacking in completed ships anyway, except for destroyers. That's more of a design "flaw" by WG than anything else. Nobody really built a battleship directly comparable to the tier 10 Yamato or the tier 9 Iowa. Neither did anyone build a gun-cruiser directly comparable to Des Moines.

I guess that if Rusky will get some day over 50% of paper ships, this game can be classified as "Fantasy"
