For me was worth to get DM and play all the other tiers for it.

Trust me that with DM you'll be able to tank also against t8 BBs, your penetration is just... AMAZING!

You'll see when you'll try it!

Baltimore armor is godly compared to Pepsicola. Sure, it's just cruiser armor. But you can bounce stuff unlike Pepsi.

Stock reload sucks, upgraded it's much better.

Radar is very strong, but you rely on your team to get into the right position. This ship can't carry a bunch of potatoes or BallessBorderhuggers.

I know the feeling, I couldn't get the Baltimore to work either. But you've made it this far, so push on and use the Baltimore to familiarise yourself with the tier X matchmaking. So by the time you unlock the DM, you'll know exactly what you're facing and you'll have an amazing tool to deal with a lot of problems.

One remark though, shell arcs won't improve on DM :)

I'm suffering through this ship since june already. Can rarely muster up the motivation to take it into battle. 1 positive thing though: the matches are always blissfully short. I am on the verge of giving up. My top commander was on that ship but I took him off it: he'll be on Gearing when I've unlocked it. My only "hope" is re-speccing it to AA since I seem to notice the CV's are risen from the graveyards lately. I did have 1 match in which was a CV present. That was about the only time Baltimore shone. Ship to ship combat? I suck in this 1. Quadrupling it's armor by taking cammo didn't help either... Each ship which is looking funny at you, regardless what angle is an automatic citadel.

Even Des Moines is a floating citadel. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I get citadeled on the Des Moines, when in other cruisers, that same hit would not have been a citadel.

Is it worse than New Orleans? Please say it isn't.

it LOOKS like it would be better, with that 90deg aft section now gone, but i still eat juicy penns every so often

the front armor is a little better and seems to bounce more stuff but really...... its just another (slightly buffed) pensacola

I began this game doing the US cruisers. That was my goal. I got to the Pepsi and thought hmmm... this sucks. So it was sold and I used the Cleveland to get enough for the New Orleans. Got that and boy did it suck hard. So much so I bought the Kutuzov for ranked battles. Sold the New Orleans and waited for something I really wanted. Rn line was announced. The rest is history...

Honest opinion is I loved the Omaha and Phoenix with their guns and torps and also the Cleveland was an absolute hoot but then again more CVs played back then. Nowadays i'm finding everything else out classing the US cruisers APART from the Des Moines. I hate that thing with a passion. Its just so dam good.

Honost question: can Des Moines be considered as a faster shooting Pensa/new Orleans/ Baltimore clone?

Pepsicola was a horrible experience. But then I got the New Orleans and I missed the Pepsi, since at least I had a few good matches in her, and NO seems to get citadeled iff a wave crosses your bow a bit hard.

I love my Baltimore...playing aggressive is the way to go. If you stay in the rear and snipe...well...I can understand your frustration...Those guns are amazing at close and mid range, you can angle the ship and bounce a lot of shots while you can still fire 6 guns at the enemy...

The US CA line is a prime example why you should not skip ships.

Each ship in this line T5+ prepares you for the further progress and ultimativly for the T10. If you skip a step/ship you are missing a part of the learning curve.

If you play each ship to a point where you understand it and end up doing at least a little above average (compared to US CA Serverstats, nothing else) you will end up doing well in the T10.

You skipped the Pensa and most of the NO. So there is no surprise you complain about the Balti because you never learned how to play the ships.

Prediction: unless you grind out the Balti to a point where you have good results in ~10 battles in a row, you will suck in the DM at least in the first 50+ games.

How did you guys like New Orleans vs Pepsi?

Actually New Orleans is ever worse than Pensacola, as it'll see tier 10 so often, and it's barely even viable at tier 8.

Anyone who complaines about Pepsi, NO and so on has clearly chosen the wrong line. Just don´t play it. Skipping ships from T6 upwards is generally a bad idea in my opinion since mostly u get prepared for a certain playstyle. (in this context i dont understand the KM Yorck but different story)

Personally i like the US CA style although i am only mediocre at best. It took me quite a while to get results above average on T7/8 but i am looking forward to the Baltimore anyhow.

I hated the Baltimore - stopped playing US cruisers because of it - and tier 9.  But didn't like any of the US cruisers above T6 except Atlanta so probably my poor play. The RN line seems easier - maybe because you know you are made from paper - the NO and Baltimore give the impression of being tough but get citadellef very easily . Played the DM on PTS but got bored with the shell arcs.

[quote name=

Q: USN Cruisers balance?

A: They have better AP and pen angles They have performance issues mostly stemming from Pensacola Sub_Octavian personally doesn't think NO, Baltimore and DM needs a buff Line split is an option to improve the line

Don't hold your breath waiting for things  to get better anytime soon. :sceptic:
