(https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/special/special-japanese-fleet2017/) Once again the in-game mission contains the "Tier 8+" restriction. "Must be playing with a Tier VIII+ Japanese ship " Why do Wargaming keep doing this. Is there a major problem with the popularity of Tier 8+ battles?

DukeH4mm3r Beta Tester 104 posts 3,006 battles Report post #4 Posted January 20, 2017 I've noticed this trend towards having weekend missions or specials limited to high tier ships. Don't blame them, I avoid high tier matches because they're boring as hell and full of stat padders. Prefer tier 5-7 as gameplay is more dynamic and balanced in my eyes and it's just more fun. So to make these lack luster specials high tier only just makes it more boring and starves other players of any mission rewards.
Vanhal Alpha Tester 5,609 posts 5,569 battles Report post #5 Posted January 20, 2017 Why do Wargaming keep doing this. Is there a major problem with the popularity of Tier 8+ battles? Statistics. I would guess that to make people buy more premium time they need to force them to higher tiers. The oppresive economy clearly didn't make the premium to sell enough, because its blocked people from even wanting to go there. So they changed it and are trying new methods. First making the MM utter catastrophe for anyone wanting to hang on middle 5-6 tier, and a bit less heavy hand with the mission requirements - vide ARP missions when it started for good. [COOOP] Shirakami_Kon Players 2,624 posts 12,776 battles Report post #6 Posted January 20, 2017 Good luck with that. I play tier 8+ a bit (namely Tirpitz and Yamato a bit lately, I have Mogami too but I can't keep up with that) but I don't play it "that much", I didn't even get ARP Takao because I can't force myself to play that much those tiers, I play tier 7 quite a lot though, but that's where most of the fun of this game ends. They can put all the tier 8+ missions they want but they won't be forcing players to play those tiers more than each player wants to.

celephais ∞ Players 52 posts 2,550 battles Report post #12 Posted January 20, 2017 So there's an issue with high tier game. Shouldn't they (Devs) try to isolate it, find it and try to fix it? Instead, "Restrictions". So are they incapable of thinking then? Because "restrictions" doesn't seem like a solution, rather a continuance of the issue. Personally i have lost hope after the latest debacle with RPF, it feels to me like talking to Trump....So i find it rather pointless to psend time and thought to provide any kind or form of feedback to improve the gameplay experience, hopefully for everyone and not just my personal preferences. GL to everyone nevertheless.

And it is pretty consistent to boot.
tenacious_torps ∞ Players 1,373 posts Report post #14 Posted January 22, 2017 FTP players are likely to stop lines at tier 7 where you still reliably make enough profits to fund the grinding of another line. Add to that how tier 8 is the new tier 5 due to prem camous making 10 viable for people with frankly mediocre skills and there is little intrinsic incentive for ftp players to ever go tier 8, if they don't add some by outside factors. Mission design seems the obvious place to do it. Is it healthy and sustainable? Very unlikely. Will it work short-term? Probably. I guess they wouldn't be doing it yet again if the last round of ARP missions hadn't shown the intended results. But it pisses people of, so at some point the motivation will break and make them much more likely to leave for good than to go back to lower tiers with intentionally reduced attractiveness. All in all yet another reason to have little trust in the long term viability of the game. I can certainly see where that NA contributor, who quit recently, was coming from. Shoving things down people's throats rarely works, as any man successful with the ladies knows, the trick is in making them want to swallow.

Torpedo soup. HE fire from thin air. Just boring. I don't do those campy games. I play aggressively, my ships are often set up for brawl and close range, and if the game doesn't fit I just do the damage I can and then off to the next one. You can get good, intensive games though, there are a lot of people out there looking for the same and when we all meet up (both sides) it most often ends in an amazing battle where we congratulate each other will well fought at the end of it. These are the games I play WoWs for. Edited February 3, 2017 by krautjaeger
MeTaLMooSe Players 688 posts 5,902 battles Report post #19 Posted February 3, 2017 It's just a marketing ploy and insurance to ensure all happy captains continue their grinds to their dream ships. And continue to purchase premium time and ships or play lower tiers to fund the running costs. If everyone stopped at tier 7 the game would stagnate. If the tier 10's didn't have small fry to munch on they'd feel disappointed at reaching the dizzy heights to realize they were only amongst equals. I think WG learnt alot and made alot of mistakes with WoT. With WoWs they have to extract their profit whilst keeping a smaller playerbase content. A tightrope indeed to walk. [-5D-] HotshotJimmy [-5D-] Players 498 posts 5,250 battles Report post #21 Posted February 3, 2017 Is it not because missions where you're suppost to get like 50 citadels would be fairly easy say in my Fiji but slightly more trickly higher up? Plus if you made all the missions less restricted the players wouldn't have an incentive to progress up tiers. By making it VIII or higher I used to find myself pushing hard to get further up until I was able to do these things.
